High School

I have a problem on my hands between my two friends.

I have one friend (Sam) who hates one of my friends (Maurice) and no matter how much I try I can't make amends between them.

Sam thinks that Maurice is plain annoying and makes rude remarks to mostly everything Maurice says.

Maurice is friends with me and is seldom rude to Sam.

How do I fix this??

Don't have them around each other. My best friend is friends with a kid I absolutely hate and I just ignore that loser when he's around.

They are both my best friends...plus they sit at the same lunch table and we can't switch for the rest of the year. :grumpy:

Today, my English teacher misspelled "Tulips".

After saying it, everyone gave me weird looks, because they didn't know it was misspelled either. Only my friend knew it was too.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

You can't change seats? I can change every day...

I sit at the same table as my friend and the kid I hate. I just ignore him and there's no problem.

You guys eat at lunch tables.

I add to this lol.

Go into friends Hyundai Accent, (0-60 in 18 seconds, ah yeah.) go to Mcdonalds or Dairy Queen, drift around for an hour.
Or try to sneak food in the library, they almost always get you though, can spot food a mile away.

We are can eat lunch in a classroom, outside, or, if we have permission, we can go off campus. My school actually doesn't have a cafeteria so we kinda got the short end of the stick there.

Hey, I eat at a lunch table Patrick. My buddies don't have cars, and the only people outside at my school are the douchebags and druggies.

Don't worry, the teachers probably don't want you to go, because they are too busy "negotiating" with the government, by which I mean going on strike.

Yeah, lol. The whole strike thing's a mess.

Isn't it illegal for teachers to go on strike?
As far as I know, teachers were allowed three days for going on strike, much less than what they wanted. Now, the government introduced Bill 22, which essentially makes it illegal for teachers to have an all out strike. Currently, they aren't writing report cards, not supervising students during recess and lunch, threatening to put an end to extracurricular activities, amongst many other threats.

What they want in return is arguably ludicrous.

At the moment, many students are on their side, because their only source of news regarding the strike is from the teachers, because truthfully, very little students actually bother to read the news. Obviously, the teachers have their own biased views in the situation, so the students aren't being exposed to the whole picture.

That sucks. It's sort of like Kony, people stand up for it without having knowledge on it, well, one-sided knowledge.

Interestingly, the cult following between the two groups (teacher supporters and Kony 2012 supporters) seem to be within the same age group.

A sizeable amount of BC students have actually done something that would "help" the teachers. Several weeks ago, some of them staged a walkout, just an hour before school officially ended, to herd together to listen to some sort of BS lecture from students themselves about how the government was treating teachers unfairly. Essentially, what they did was they found an excuse to get out of class early, and then proceeded to gather together to listen to BS they've already been told by their teachers.

More surprisingly, the union, the British Columbia Teacher's Federation or BCTF for short, actually supported the students in this. When you need students to help you, you know you are in desperation.

School would be better without break or lunch. Perhaps a 10 minute one to snack, and relax. I'd just rather get the 6 lessons done in 4.5 hours rather than 6.

To be honest I would have to agree with you. I would rather spend an extra hour at home getting some time in RBR or GTL or working on my composition rather than sitting outside at school in the rain for an hour (we're not allowed in many buildings, the ones we can go into are always crowded). In fact put the half hour I have to wait before schools and 1 hour before school on Wednesdays? That would give me 8 extra hours a week!

But the reason we have breaks is to refresh. The brain cannot fully concentrate for 6 lessons straight with no breaks.

Here we have 5h 20minutes of school a day.

80min class
5minutes (walk to next class)
80min class
40min lunch
80min class
5minutes (walk to next class)
80min class

It sounds like alot, but we get enough days off to make it worth it.

For this year, they added 6 minutes of classes per day. Those 6 extra minutes meant that we got 6 extra days off. I really like this new system better. I would be in favour of adding 20 minutes extra per day, if it meant we'd get 20 more days off :)

It wouldn't. Because then you end up with no time to talk to friends and stuff, plus you'd essentially have 10 minutes to eat your lunch. It takes almost that to buy lunch in my school because of the queues.

Thats reminded me of another joy of college.

As long as you are not talking over the teacher or stuff like that you are allowed to talk to friends in class.

Why not bring your own lunch? That's what most people do here, me included.

It comes more to how much work you get done. In computers my teacher doesn't care that I browse GTP, because he knows I still end up getting the work done. Though these days I don't really talk to people in class, mainly because there isn't anyone I would want to talk to. I talk to one or two people in Graphics... That's all I've got.

The library is a good place to go during lunch, especially if there is internet.

Not if the school in question (mine!) has blocked 9/10 of all websites, the only ones left are the 'educational' ones and Granturismo.com lol

Well today looks just dandy.
First got maths where we will be learning something completely useless... again.
Then Spanish which to be honest I like mainly because halfway through we just crack off a massive innuendo from something said and our teacher laughs with us.
Then we've got science but were on computers and we have a supply so no work will get done.
Then history which is decent, although it's all prep for mock exams now.
And finally I.C.T which is just really easy, doesn't require much knowledge just have to know how to use spreadsheet and word.

Got History STAAR tests today. Sixty questions. Gives me time to read my new book at least, so I can't complain.
