High School

Got slugged today but left everything beyond there behind after consulting the instructor.

And based on everything you have recently shared in this thread, you're the one who painted it there. You're intolerant, aggressive, lack resilience and egocentric. The other guy might have thrown the first punch, but if you just calm down for thirty seconds and stop taking everything so damn personally, this wouldn't be a problem. You need to learn to live and let live, and stop keeping a running tally of everyone that you think as wronged you. You might not be able to change others, but you can change the way you think, act and behave.
Plain and simple, he's given me problems before. I've had enough of him. There's only so much I can take of it, and I've reached that point. I understand that its all my fault that the target on on my back, and its something that I'll have to deal with.

and its something that I'll have to deal with.
...it's also something you can fix, rather than continue claiming it's not changeable. It starts with you Johnny, it starts with YOU and now. Nothing will change until you start picking your head off the floor and stop being so easily engulfed with every action, word, etc. that they put upon you.

I don't think it's because of someone that's just out to get you constantly. That target on your back may just be the fact that you're vulnerable through irritation. The guy is only bothering to get some kind of reaction. Take time and ask yourself if it's even worth reacting to some of the things he does. Just tell him it's getting old and keep on moving. Eventually, he'll leave you alone.

In my art class, this new girl got in trouble for doing her makeup instead of her project.
"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE PAINTING ON YOUR PAPER NOT YOUR FACE!" is a quote I'll probably remember for the rest of my life.

Speaking of art, I am very behind. I need to finish an essay, finish my painting, and get major progress done on my pastel drawing before finals. Time management is not something I'm good at.

Well that's a little harsh.

I don't take an art class, but I'm behind in history. Good luck on your quest to getting back up to where you should be. 👍

Got all caught up on my AP Environmental Science work. Teacher was cool enough to accept everything with no penalty, he's not about that teaching style. Having an instructor who understands that school isn't the only endeavor in a student's life is nice. :)

Agreed. While I've had more teachers who don't understand that than those who do since I've been in middle school and now high school, it takes a lot of stress off my shoulders. I'm obviously not sure about you or anyone else though.

Well, English III was interesting... and irritating.

We had read the story "The Story of an Hour," and the class had a bit of a argument discussion. See, the story was mostly about how unhappy her marriage was with her husband. It was an example that some use for women's right.
So... why was it irritating?

Because one individual who is very religious says that he agrees that women should be (basically) under her husband's word- she cooks, she cleans, she does all of the decade old nonsense "because it's in the Bible". Of course the girls got annoyed; so was I (I'm not a hypocrite when it comes to women's freedom). That same religious person even questioned some people about if they fully live by the Bible. He also carried it to 2nd period math and 4th period Seminar.

Religious beliefs should not be used to define what ANYBODY can or cannot do... or social "norm".

Perhaps he should read the Book of Susanna, then.

The thing about the person I was talking about is that he's pretty stubborn. It's either he's right or nobody's right. He would still argue from sun up to sun down because of his views.

Two fights at Votech today, and no, I was not a part of either of them.

Fight one: one of my friends who takes HVAC got super offended by some very rude remarks made about his obesity, and snapped. It took five guys to keep my friend off the kid he was going after.

Fight two: two kids in my Auto class were in the garage stall that was made into a locker room. One goes to another school and the other kid goes to my school. The two were just messing around, but it got out of hand. The kid from my school ended up getting a very bloody nose. I was walking over to get the instructor who had to show my group something, and a kid from the other school comes flying out and notifies the instructor.

In other news, I got called down to the office to talk about what happened with me on Monday and Tuesday. Both me and the kid who I went after got off with warnings, albeit very strong ones, since us two have never caused any problems for as long as we've been in the high school until earlier this week.

Other than that above, today was a pretty good day. :)

My school has finished up for the year, but the last 2 days were totally crazy. I heard that a class mate 🤬 over a year 9 and pretty much sparked warfare between the year 8's and 9's. By that, I mean the year 9's stole our soccer ball which got everyone wound up (including me) so we decided to take on the year 9's in a lawless game of Gaelic footy. The year 9's however were soo brutal and rough-there were sling tackles, spearhead tackles, stacks, fights and even a fractured collarbone. The kid that 🤬 over the year 9 fell flat on his face after being tripped by another year 9, which caused tensions to flare. One really funny moment was when this year 9 kid was taken down by a group of year 8's. People cheered, clapped and whistled like I'd never heard in the school yard before. Not to mention that there were about 50 students using the turf.

What I learned in school today is that I'm allergic to pecans, that was not a fun experience (wasn't a major reaction) this puts me behind on my latest hero's journey project, going to email my teacher about maybe allowing me to have an extra day to finish working on it.

Well, that sucks.

Also, only one week before Christmas break! At least where I live.

Has anybody here already cheated in a test?
I've never had to cheat on anything important, as I have a decent work ethic and a pride for intelligence. But I have blatantly cheated on arbitrary things like vocabulary quizzes in English (English words hidden deep in the dictionary that never have value in normal conversation).

Buuuuuut, I have sold people essays and work when they procrastinated way too long and started to stress (keeping calm and cool under academic pressure is a more important assett than the knowledge itself). I've also done math for my sister because I found it fun and easy, and she doesn't value education like she should.

As much as I'd like to condemn you about cheating, I can't say I'm not guilty myself. So just be careful and remember, there will come a point in the long run where the loss from cheating (not actually knowing the subject come exam time, getting caught and disciplined, etc) out wiegh the short run gain you receive.

I was on the way back to the highschool on the Votech bus today and saw a Foxbody Mustang on a flatbed. The front looked untouched, so I just assumed that it had some typical car problems and broke down. However, as the bus pulled up beside it, I saw that the rear end was completely destroyed from what was likely a hard rear end hit. The rear bumper was pushed forward to where the rear axle is. The car didn't look too good cosmetic wise to begin with, but it still wasn't too a good feeling seeing a wrecked Mustang.

We got our band placements for next semester today. I normally get out at 2:30 PM but now I get out at 4:00, which will make getting a job more difficult.

I have a question. Do any of you guys have whats called "flipped classrooms"? I ask because a few classes here are flipped, and honestly it's terrible. It feels less like actually getting taught. In a flipped classroom it feels like the teachers entire job is to hand out worksheets to the kids. I would be willing to bet the teachers hate it just as much as the kids do.

For me, it's the final week before Christmas. 4 days remain. The end is in sight. Except that I go back in January.

Well, I might not be in High School (because in Germany, there isn't a High School), but I'm on a school that's a Realschule here in Germany (Realschule = a little bit under a High School, in comparism). I'm in 9th grade, only one and a half year away from finishing my time at the Realschule. And I can say this: my time on this school is probably the worst I've ever had. It went great in 5th grade, then I got bullied for the first half year in 6th grade. It all went well after that, everything got solved and stuff, but now I'm getting this feeling over and over again. To be honest, I'm a bit more rounder (if you know what I mean). And some of my classmates come over to me and they are grabbing me or something like this, you know, like (warning: extreme example) like a perv would do at the b's of a woman. And because I'm a bit more rounder, I kinda have some manboobs. And they just com and grab me, for no reason. And they know I don't want this and that I hate it, but they keep on doing it. And also, I don't feel well in my class. I've got some friends in my class, but still sometimes I don't feel very well - or even not accepted in my class. Sometimes I'm really depressed on this. It might seem or sound a bit childish for some of you, but try to be me. Try to be a normal student who got bullied for almost 6 months and then gets grabbed and stuff for no damn reason. Just try.

Btw, has anyone else experience with bullying? Curious...

Its finals week for me. Gotta take the English and the dreaded geometry final tomorrow.

Where I live, bullying almost doesn't exist due to my small high school size and the fact that everyone looks out for each other.

I was always given 🤬 for my weight and such from 6th to 9th grade, but again because of my size and weight people knew not to push me too far because they'd regret it. You really don't want to find out what a 5'10, 220lb 6th grader could (keyword could, never have caused any physical harm other than putting somebody in a headlock or something similar) or a 6'3 260 lb 9th grader could do.
Never have had to fight anybody, just scare them enough to shut them up.

I was picked on for the entirety of primary school (grades 1-7 to be more specific). The reasons varied, I'm fairly small and wasn't very "built" then so I'm sure that was a welcome invitation for others to push my buttons. I also have a "lazy eye" so my eyes aren't aligned and straight, which calls for peer scruiteny to this day still, though not nearly as abusive.

You're not alone bud, it sucks, but don't let it get to you too bad. They'll eventually get bored of beating a dead horse if you don't let them under your skin.

THE END IS IN SIGHT. Two days left, and the fast one is a half day, if I want it to be. I'm mostly finished with work, and things are winding down. The break is near.

Finally done with school for this semester. Last final I took was my Audio Tech class, and me and my friend finished first, and had the back studio to ourselves. Needless to say, we had a jam session and I may have forgotten to shut the door.
