I am looking for any tips on how to set-up my fully tuned Acura NSX-RM for a long race at the High Speed Ring.

I'm in a same car championship and I think I am pretty fast. I am certain most of the time that I'm losing is down to my lack of tuning knowledge and my rivals having better set-ups.

I have checked all the tunes out and have selected the RKM tune as the base set-up for the championship.
I really like the performance of the car and the way it handles however on the High Speed Ring I feel a few things could be better.

I feel like having a longer 4th gear would help me out here but am unsure how to change it without messing up the rest of the gears.

It is basically the last corner that is the main issue. It can be taken flat out (5th) but you lose revs in the corner and the backend is unstable at low RPM. I need to downshift just before the exit to maintain traction and get better acceleration out the corner. If 4th gear was longer I think it would result in a better lap time as I could maintain full power and high RPM through the corner.

Toe, camber and how to extend 4th gear are my main issues :(
Infact... I am basically unsure about the downforce, LSD and suspension settings for this track and need some general tips.

Any help you tuning pros could give me would be much appreciated. If not I understand :)

Cheers, Steg

Try this one, it ain't for racing softs, but it does work very well.

Thanks mate, I should of mentioned that I'm using that set-up and am looking to tweak it for High Speed Ring. It is the best tune I have used on any car so far and am very happy with it's general track performance.

Thanks for the suggestion though bud, appreciate the help.

Well, with my limited knowledge of tuning, I would think that pushing the final drive further left (i.e lowering the number) should increase the top speed (if that's what you're after), and HSR is one of those tracks which shouldn't really need full downforce, so try it at default settings…

Thanks, I will put aero back to default and see how that goes. Am I right in thinking that will give me greater straight line speed but less stability in the corners?

I am happy with the top speed, I would just like 4th gear to last longer. Would adjusting final drive not lose me performance when the top speed is set as fast as the car can go?

Yep, but if unless I'm mistaken, the NSX RM is one of the more forgiving cars, so it shouldn't be that unstable even if it has slightly less downforce than default…

You are correct, the Nsx is very stable and pretty forgiving, I think I will be faster with less downforce.

Thanks again for your quick response mate.

From what I gather the aero doesn't have much effect in this game in terms of losing speed with more downforce, though that is how it works in real life. I wouldn't worry about lowering that.

I see, do you think suspension settings are key to a good set-up for a specific track then?

Transmission. When I am making a track specific tune, unless it is for an oval, I take my standard suspension tune, then pair it with a track specific gearing. As I'm sure you know, the perfect gearing will have you just redlining as you hit the braking point of the longest straight.

Yeah I'm redlining at the entrance to turn 1. It's really the last turn that is the issue with gearing, I could take it flat out in 4th at high revs but 4th gear is too short. When I go to 5th I lose stability, pull, exit speed and have to down change.

How would I go about making 4th gear longer without messing up any of the other gear settings?

Well, you could go into your fully customizable transmission and individually make it a little longer. I wouldn't suggest lengthening it by much though so that you don't throw it off for the rest of the track

Thank you, I will lengthen it slightly, I was just unsure if this would mess the rest up.

Thanks lads,

I have reduced aero and changed the gear ratio. I am now lapping almost a full second faster and can nail the last corner.
I can now enter the last corner about 3 quarters of the way into 4th gear and can keep the power down throughout.
When I exit the last bend I am just about on the limit of 4th gear and when I enter the turn before the bridge I am just about maxed out in 5th.

I think these gear setting as really working well and somehow my cornering traction has improved ever so slightly even though I have reduced downforce?
Anyway that is certainly not a complaint :)
