So I'm looking at getting one of these from about 1990ish, You can get them here that age for £1000 or less. Just want your advice on whether I should get one or not, and if you think it'll be reliable. Yadda Yadda you get the picture. Don't make bitch slap y'all.

I know Honda are reliable but I was thinking 13-14 years old : \

EDIT:- Do you have any specs for it also, I can't find any?

The Honda Inline 4 engine runs like a top. Many I-4 do, for that matter.

The CRX is obviously no beast on power. I believe for the years you're looking at (early '90s), there was a 1.5L and 1.6L engine offered. I believe it was rated around 105 HP.

Although it's no powerhouse, many people use it for autocrossing.

I'm sure PunkRock can elaborate further.

I don't think you guys in Europe got the HF. You guys got the 160 hp one, and we didn't, though. These cars were built like tanks, and they're virtually bulletproof, drivetrain wise. The body could be a problem, but with the climate in the UK, i don't think you have to worry that much.

I've got a 1991, and it's still pretty much top shape, even for a 12 year old car that lived with our salt and calcium infested road.

I'm amazed. I live on the East Coast and all the CRXs (well, older Hondas in general) all have rusty wheel arches.

Second-gen CRXs are cool! Great handling and while the power seems modest on paper, CRXs only weight around 1800 lbs I believe, which is pretty darn light.

Well it's probably worse in the UK, specially with all that cold and rain y'know.

Heh, anyone got any opinions on 1st gen MR2's?

Yeah.

What's wrong with boxy?
I'm going to attempt to drive boxy cars for the rest of my life. :P

:yuck:

It's heavier, has a bigger engine and it looks too round. Also I probably couldn't afford to buy one. The only MK2 one I like is the GT-S turbo model and they are all imports.

I still say MK1.

Mk1's are so 1980's!

I'm not really looking for a car that's fast, more a car thats fun in the corners. Also cheap, reliable (not sure that's why I asked) and the engine is relatively small (1.4 or 1.6 supercharged I think).

I like the 80's, most of my favorite cars were made then.

Dude, Mk1 : U-G-L-Y

That thing is just horrible looking. On the other hand, the second generation ones are really nice looking IMO.

I drive a friggin MKIII Escort at the moment and I like the look of that. ALl I can say is I have taste, but it's a bit werd.

My current car looks something like this.

Except crapper, although it is a 1600.

MK1's are so much better in terms of looks. And they're lighter so they probably could take turns pretty easy. As long as you keep the engine running right.

No I don't, you see I just bought the Initial D game. DRIFT!!!!!!!!!11 LOLZOMGITSFASTERTHANGRIPRACINGINEVERYPOSSIBLESITUATION ^_^

Anyway I'm pretty sure Cudaman has/had an MK1 so I wonder what he has to say about them.

We has one of the first gen. CRX's... it drove like a kart and you could smoke pretty much everything ( no porsches and so ofcourse :) )

Really go for it... very reliable and great fun

crx is actually a very good project car. when you attend auto-X and you see a CRX in it, they tend to win because of their high modifiablity. I'd drop in a Integra LS engine (i forgot the code) and spend alot of money towards suspension part of the car.

i like the CRX its a great car!

as for the MR2 I like the 2nd Gen turbo better than the 1st one OR the 3rd one....i dont like the headlights on it.....

speaking of the MR2....has antone seen the one from street weapon composites? oh man that car looks good!
