What the..

My Prelude had its first major hiccup since I had it tonight. I was going to pick my sister up from school, I was at a stoplight and it started smoking bad. Pulled over and noticed that there was a rather large puddle of oil under the car. I ended up getting the car towed back home. The oil cooler o-ring ended up being the culprit. Ironically, I was gonna change this last year, but I couldnt find a socket big enough 30mm. I already had the o-ring in my room. Changed it out, and apparently there is no further problems except for the large amount of oil spewed all over the bottom of my car.

That actually happened with my Prelude as well, although I noticed the oil on the ground before I started the car and had it towed right away. Simple fix, and if thats the only hiccup you've had then "oh no!"

HAHA, I was just talking to a friend about this. He told me I should have got a chrysler. I basically laughed in his face. I bought the Prelude with 55k miles on it, now it has 145k. I had this issue, and a clutch slave cylinder go out unexpectedly. Everything else was oil changes/brakes/timing belt/water pump. I approve of Honda reliability 👍

Thats funny that you said clutch slave cylinder as that went on my friends Prelude too, its just a shame that both happened too you.

I saw a white '91 Prelude today, white with no rust at all and it made me Prelude home sick. I miss the ol' girl but after searching on autotrader.ca I'm afraid I'll never come across another 4th gen SR-V for sale again. :(

Mean looking, and I love the Acura front end.

What plans do ya have for the silver one? What happened to the Oddatsea?

The silver one is a good friend of mine's. He's got some rather interesting plans for it.

I've still got the second Rodyssey, and it's build is currently getting underway. ;) It'll be the tow rig for my red car, when all is said and done. I've also got a new daily commuter (1996 Civic DX hatchback) for the new job, which helps with the fuel economy. It's got plans as well, because my addiction is bad. :dopey:

I wanna say the silver one isn't his, and I'm assuming his still has the Oddy, the second one at least.

You got that right, bud. :)

My Prelude has been calling out to me lately. I keep seeing them around my house, which wouldn't mean much except for the fact that I live in a town of 3500 people. Theres 3 for sale around my area, and there is a few that I've seen driving around. Its a sign from my old car, I can feel it...

None are SR-V's though, which is pretty dissappointing.

I'm curious what you guys think of this car's looks. I've had it for my XMB background for a while now and have completely fallen in love with the stance and racy looks. The factory-like look of wheels tucking under the fenders from a simple drop has gotten boring. The owner has been parting the car out to fund his next project, and I'm wanting to revive it for myself. I really do hate copying people, but it just looks too sick. It's like an Accord... Challenge Stradale! I want one! Different front/rear lips and wheels, but extended wheel track + fender flares. I haven't decided on a color scheme, it might be the same, it might not be.

The primary focus of my build will be handling, so it's not complete rice... is it? Regardless, I love it. I'm just curious on other Honda enthusiasts' thoughts.

BTW, JDM H22A coming in about January. LSD 'lude tranny (MP1A auto) has been in for a few months, and I'll be ordering ESP mounts in a couple weeks. Would've gotten their traction bar too, but then I remembered I really want that Apex book in the GT5 Collector's Edition. $75 off the traction bar is mighty tempting, but it'll come around again.

Here's what mine is looking like at the moment:

How's the g35 going?

Looking good, especially like the height. What wheels are those? And what happened to the Mugens?!?!

The G35 is still running strong, although the body is starting to show its age, location (Canadian winters suck, half the time theres more salt on the road than there is ice) and the km's I've been putting on it since moving to my new place. Nothing noticable unless you're up close, but I'll probably have to take her in for some body work in the next couple of years.

Just did a complete brake over haul (calipers, rotors and ceramic pads) that cost me over $1,200 in parts...the sting in the wallet from that and all the work I've done on my house this summer has kind of set my suspension work back a little bit.

The Mugens are just sitting in my shed, i tried selling them but no takers.

The ones on there at the moment are Work E-Wing RSZ's (Thank Toyomatt for clarifying ;))

I'm thankful i don't have to worry about bullshet like salty roads, sounds like major crap.

Salted roads is crap. I'm stuck with them in Wisconsin, as well. :( Luckily, there are ways to prevent corrosion, in the form of POR-15 and rubberized undercoating. :) I've got plans to seal off my hatchback from the elements when my buddy pays me.

I've been wanting to seal up all my cars, but... the EM2 won't need it after this next project on it becomes complete. :) She's getting some much needed attention, starting this Winter. Selling off most of my suspension components, to help fund a rather ludicrous car build. I've always wanted a Lotus-style suspension setup. ;)

Trust me, the last couple of years I've been throwing every sort of rust prevention known to man at her. After she gets her body cleaned up, I'm going to cover the front 40% of the car, and some area's around the back door, in clear bra. Driving 100 km of highway/freeway everyday means my car becomes a target for transport trucks, who love to litter my car with tiny rocks and other debris. The larger ones I can spot and fill in, but the smallest ones go undetected and turn into little rust freckles.

If you had your Mugens here, you'd have no problem selling them. In fact, you'd probably have a hard time keeping them from being stolen. The nearest city from here is filled with guys who think that polished steel American Racing rims from department stores are performance wheels, so when they see anything like that, they go retarded over them.

Toyomatt - How far do ya plan on pushing it? And how did the AutoX season treat ya? Haven't heard much about it.

Well, my auto-x season got put on hold when I received news of a job change. :( I'm losing money on the change, but learning a lot more on my field. Hopefully this nets me a pay raise or opportunities, but that's a long story.

My car also suffered from a busted accessories belt on the way down to Nashville this year, and currently has a wiring/alternator/starter issue that I cannot seem to sort out. The starter motor will not engage the flywheel, currently. :( Not something I want to bring to auto-x and have turn into a bigger problem (since the place I typically auto-x at is about an hour and a half from home).

As far as future plans for my EM2, they start with the following (and will probably become much more than this initial list, but it's design will start here):
- Half-cut/tube-frame front end
- Double wishbone rear suspension with fully adjustable control arms
- Re-located fuel cell for balance and larger fuel capacity (along with upgraded fuel system)
- Carbon Kevlar replacements for hood, trunk, doors, fenders... maybe more
- Finally install my supercharger... after building up my K24A2 a bit. ;)
- Add some heat and sound insulation for the cockpit
- Stitch weld and gusset chassis, without being intrusive to the cabin space
- Install electric power steering pump on Honda rack
- Replace driver seat with a fixed back seat (safety first kids)
- Reupholster interior with Recaro Artista, Recaro classic Gradation (red/orange version), or Recaro Confetti.
- Renew a set of classic wheels from my collection in either 16x9 or larger form, to fit 265+ tires.
- ???
- Profit. :D

Holy crap...anything you're not planning on doing to it?!

Kinda interested in the supercharger though. How much hp are you looking to achieve?

That list gave me a crises.

LMAO! That line gave me a good chuckle. Gotta' love Top Gear quotes. 👍

I'm planning on doing everything I've ever wanted to do to the car. I've got 3 cars right now, so it's not like I don't have a spare if one breaks. The two others will give me time to work on the EM2 extensively. When completed, I'd like to see my EM2 pacing a Ferrari 360 on the track, without losing it's comfort to a point that you wouldn't want to take it on a long journey. Essentially, I want my own "GT" car. I love how my car looks and feels already, so I see no reason to change the chassis to something else. Plus, it has a lot of history for me and I wouldn't be able to mentally give it up.

As for the supercharger, I'm looking at around 400whp or more. It's not a terribly tall order for the hp range, as I've seen a completely stock K20A2 put out mid-300's on just the Kraftwerks kit. So, a built K24A2 should have no problems making up the difference. The tricky part, will be maintaining a nice smooth power band. I'd like to make sure that the car's power graphs are as close to linear as I can make them. So, when driving, it feels like the car always has power, no matter what RPM you're at. It feels somewhat like that now, but since I'll be changing up the gearing completely on the car to a taller gearset... I know that the current power will not be sufficient for my overall goals. :)

I don't think feat begins to describe it.

I would love to see the face of a Ferrari owner as you stay on his bumper. Hopefully he won't mind you putting a cam in his car so you can post the video of his jaw dropping all over the internet.

Achieving the hp won't be the biggest challenge, it will be getting that linear graph that you want. Are there any good tuners/shops in WI that you're able to visit/work with? I know there isn't much available here in Ontario, maybe a couple of guys in Toronto at most.

Sounds like a real feat. Good luck with it!

Thank you sir. It'll take me a few years just to get the car up to the point of fine tuning. So, I'll be in this for a long haul. :)

Well, there are "big name" tuners within short driving distance (King Motorsports, namely)... but since I've been researching and experimenting, I've been able to tune rather effectively on my own. I just rent some dyno time, and I'm usually happy with the results. :)

A mate of mine here in QLD has an EM1 with a JDM DC integra front end, K swap, ITBs.. Not sure what else that has been done, but it keeps pace with Porsches. It's really impressive.
