The Honda NSX might be gone, but it's set to live on as the HSV-10 GT in Japan's SuperGT championship.

Although we don't have an official release or specs yet, we do have the image above and some preliminary details on the HSV-10 GT or Velocity Sports Honda. Built to the 2010 GT500 regulations, the new front/mid-engine racer from Honda is packing a 500+ hp, 3.4-liter V8 and sending power through the same Ricardo sequential manual gearbox fitted to the 2010 SuperGT cars from Nissan and Toyota. Underneath all that glorious carbon fiber is the same chassis Honda's been working on (originally as an NSX replacement) for the last two years. The SuperGT season opener is scheduled for March 20 and 21 of 2010, but we expect more details and a host of high-res images to hit soon. Stay tuned...

Edit: Just found the 2009 Super GT thread(which for some reason no one has posted in for quite some time). Please mege this with it if this lone thread isn't necessary.

does this mean the true NSX replacement is here? don't the rules require a production version to be out as well?

I won't consider it the true replacement for the NSX unless the overall shape resembles it's precursor.

I dont think so, but maybe it will require a limited run of highly priced (somewhat irrelevant) road cars (in a similar vein to the NSX-R GT) for homologation.

They will probably just make 5(I think that is the number) like they did with the NSX-R.

I find the design and lines absolutely gorgeous. Of course you could say the downside is that it doesn't have the design legacy of the NSX but I feel like it does the job really well as a replacement since I wasn't really a bit NSX lover at first.

Looking forward to see the final livery it'll have too!

Apparently they found a loophole in the SuperGT rules allowing them to enter this car, don't really know the details but it's apparently a go.

HSV shouldn't be happy about the name, that's surely some sort of copyright infringement.:P

Im guessing if Honda make a production version, they would want to sell a few of these in Hamburg? Next we will see the Honda BVB-010 or the Honda VfB-010.

Doesn't seem like it, but I'm not surprised. Honda has this annoying habit of building cars we want & then putting them away, saying, "We did it to show we can, but we have no actual interest in producing it". Translation: "We did it for lulz".

fixed :sly:

Wow, not only is it a sexy car but it sounds awesome too. And contrary to what I thought before, there is actually three of them. Its kinda funny though how Honda are doing the same thing as Lexus did with the LF-A in that they make it a race car before (assuming they decide to) making it a production car.

It won't. New Super GT rules dictate that it has to be front engined, and that's what this new car is. That's what Honda has been talking about for years now.

Apparently all you actually need to get approved is a "production ready" design, and it sounds like that's what Honda has. Whether or not they put the car into production any time soon, they're probably sitting on the finished plan until the time is right.

Some of you guys seem abit overeactive. It'll replace the NSX in Super GT, not as a road car.

NSX, while its styling was definitely Ferrari inspired, I thought it was a very unique design.

This one(nice vid, btw Jim), I think it's beautiful, but does not look original from what I've seen. And yeah, it sounds nice, because that thing in the video is a race car.

I love it, stunning looking car, I'm surprised to see a successor that actually looks as good as the NSX, that's not an easy task.

I approve of this design...If they could keep from having it watered down for the road (think of how different a road GT-R and the new Super GT car look) I think this would be a winner on the road. If only they could keep the price within range to go head-to-head with the GT-R. But Honda will likely push the price to something more like the LF-A will be.

I'm curious what "production ready" means though. Like if I made it past Honda security and hit the big green button would I make one? :sly:

It sounds like a F1 car :|

Its looks as if you don't like the way that 3.4L V8 sounds. Do you find something wrong with that? Although not as high pitched, the NSX sounded the same way.
