Honda Urban EV Concept

A Honda S-EV, is just right for the times.
It is, but despite my proclivity for hybrids and EVs, I'd like to see a version using something like Honda's 1.5-litre or even 1-litre turbocharged petrol engines - if companies have one last relatively simple sports car in them before they go EV it's exactly the kind of car I'd want to buy new and hang onto. I've always loved long road trips and EVs aren't quite up to that just yet.

I'd take some kind of mild hybrid too, ideally with a manual gearbox - a kind of smaller, lighter, rear-drive take on the Honda CR-Z.

Another EV concept with perfect proportions and the perfect blend of retro and contemporary design.

Come on Honda, you know what to do (hint: BUILD IT!)

The S2000 was inspired by the S cars of the 60's as well. Therefore, the new S2000 everyone was asking for.

Except not because it is an EV.

And It will not be sold in the states. The s2000 was sold in the states.

If they could make a car that looked like this , rwd , with the motor from the Jazz or Civic hybrid I doubt they'd be able to build them fast enough to keep up with demand .

Cor!

Honda Design appear to be extremely talented. Some nice motorcycle concepts of late, too. It bodes well for the future, just as long as they get the engineering / overall product direction right with it.

Whichever comes first in spring of 2020, an EV Chevy VOLT(already made yearly), or this Honda Sport EV(who the hell knows what Honda will have 2 yrs from now)

no matter which I get, I'm sticking ATARI 2600 Liveries all over the place.

I'm hoping this modern-minimalist or "Urban EV" platform is successful and other companies take similar approaches to their designs. These designs are beautiful, simplistic and need I say it? Square.

They're the epitome of an automotive masterpiece. They don't look like they're an incomprehensible mess of razor sharp edges made from spaceship parts for extraterrestrial dictators like most every post 2012 car does.

Even under the camo, I already love this car and everything it stands for. It's beautifully minimalistic, retro and futuristic at the same time!

I would prefer traditional side mirrors to complete the look though.

It seems that translated from concept to production the beltline moved upwards by about a foot. But, that's just how it is I suppose.

I'll like it for the retro-futuristic aesthetic anyway if they can pull it off in production guise.

The beltline was already pretty high on the concept to be honest - it was just hidden a little better because the concept had enormous wheels and a less realistic slim roofline. The concept in general was pretty big, and looking at the size of the people in the camo'd car the production car doesn't look that tiny either.

Interesting they've kept the general vibe of the headlights and taillights, even if as @35mm points out the rear lights have become round. I don't mind it not looking identical - anything remotely similar to the concept will be an improvement on many of Honda's current designs.

What I'm most intrigued by are what appear to be rear doors in the test car though. Part of me thinks they may just be clever camouflage (even though they appear to have shutlines and handles) as they look unrealistically small compared to the front doors - but then a lot of manufacturers are ditching three-door designs these days.
