Tired of whiners! arghh.

Here's a whiner ... AI sucks!
Here's a constructive criticism ... AI could be improved.

Now that i got that out of my system.

The demo, I am playing with G27 with a cockpit and a 43 inch flat screen 3 feet away.
* physics is better. I'm impressed with how the cars feel on the time trials. Quite immersive.
* AI needs improvement, but it seems to me that the events with other cars on them are there to give beginner/casual drivers some confidence. So i really do not see anything wrong with it.
* Graphics, seems better. I haven't noticed the tearing or any graphics issues that some are indicating.
* Menus looks better, quicker load times.

And finally ... yes it's a demo, you are able to drive cars right?

I never said the AI "SUCKED". All I said was that it was mindless. And it's true, you just swift through all the cars and nothing happens. The only coo thing about the AI is that if you stop your car in their path they will swerve around it, which was done in GT5 spec 2.0. Yes, the AI can be improved and Kaz said it would be. I'm saying just so far in the DEMO, nothing was improved. But there are many other things that the demo improved on (Shadows, Saturated Colors, physics, etc...). I'm not whining, i'm just saying the AI is mindless and it's true.

This is time trial though surely the regulations are more strict than your average race.

If you're responding to me, in F1 they push much harder in qualifying (time trial) than the do in the races and abuse the green surface much more there.

And btw to the guy who said laps are only invalidated when half your car is off the tarmac, that's false. Just lost a lap while being maybe even less than a quarter off the track at the exit of Copse -- only one wheel off too. Pathetic.

I don't see the problem. All drivers have to push and find the boundaries of the track no matter where they are. At least we don't have to look for the offtrack zones somewhere in the paved runoff zones, that would make things even trickier. The way it is now it is quite clear where to move the car on track imo.

And I'm still sick of the next lap invalidation when you're not even on the last corner and can not possibly achieve any advantage from going off. Absolutely ridiculous on some tracks in GT5 when you're even three or four corners away and still lose the next lap...
It's really not that bad in this academy demo. It doesn't do this in Stowe (second last part) and the last corner section would really have an influence on the next lap, so it's actually very reasonable to invalidate the next lap then.

In past they were a little too fussy, but in this demo it's just right I think.

Well, not necessarily on the full circuit, but on the National circuit on the exit of Brooklands, before the entire Luffield complex.

Nothing really blew me away... Only new things are some physics and Silverstone. Still a bunch of frikin 100 times used over Nissans. The worst part was the screwed up frame rate. It kept dropping and getting choppy. I saw several times where shadows looked pretty bad too. I know this is a demo... But the bottom line is... PD has been in the business long enough that they should know this is a first impression of GT6. And it WILL affect sales of the game. Even if they say it's not the final version. They should've tried a little harder or at least waited. Pretty sure I'll wait for the PS4 version. I really don't think the PS3 is powerful enough for GT6.

Yeah, although they did fix the shadows for the most part (in the cockpit it looks beautiful). You can see some massive shadow flickering in the background at some scenes of the replay. This problem needs to be dealt with.

You do realize it's the "NISSAN GT Academy Demo" right? Some physics? The GT-R was alive for the first time. Excellent turn in, oversteer on command on entry and exit. It finally drives like the true supercar that it is instead of an understeering tub.

Really?

How bad does one have to drive to get a penalty in brooklands? It's almost impossible if the driving is anywhere close of being propper.

Grand Valley & Suzuka are exactly the same track graphics as GT5, even down to the clouds. The only difference being that in the GT6 demo the stands are empty (Is this to make them appear as being overhauled for GT6?). So it doesn’t look like any kind of overhaul at all on those two tracks. I hope it’s just for the sake of the demo.

As for Silverstone, I can't comment as it's new to GT6 and have nothing in GT history to compare to.

Now Autumn Ring is a different story. With what looks like a complete overhaul, that track looks awesome. So much detail, it’s unreal.

What are PD doing?
Overhauling 1 track then missing 2 and then overhauling another track then missing two again? Who knows? (I hope not!)

The physics on the other hand have (in my eyes) had a major overhaul for the better and seem more realistic this time round.

The graphics are (to me) a bit hit and miss at the moment but I have faith that PD will sort this out for the full release.

All in all, I hope PD overhaul all GT5 tracks to the standard of Autumn Ring as in the demo for GT6 full release. At the moment it’s as if they are cutting alot of corners to get GT6 finished and out on time or they just chucked in Grand Valley and Suzuka from GT5 for the sake of filling the demo out.

I, for one can't wait for the full game to be released if Autumn Ring is anything to go by and hope they overhaul all the tracks to that standard or GT6 may appear to be just GT5.5 with upgraded physics to alot of GT veterans, which I hope the latter is not the case.

Missing the point entirely.

If you brake too late you can go a little wide, simple as that. The fact that your current lap gets invalidated is fine, but your next one? Ridiculous. And please, "proper" driving has nothing to do with it when you're pushing the limit as to how late you can brake.

Fresh coat of paint, nothing really new. Will just grind on and finish Level 40 GT5. Maybe GT7 will actually be something new.
There was a good meme on that thread "What if GT5 is just GT6 Prologue". That's about it.

Well done man, well done. Nice to see someone actually prove the nitty gritty details of GT5 vs. GT6 rather than just talk about it. 👍👍

Here is your video embedded:

Good video but it's not really an improvement, it's more like downgrading the framerate, anti-aliasing (much more important things than shadows and pixelated smoke), some track textures like grass, road and overall less polygon count on the interiors with lower-res textures too. Take a look at GT5's tach on the 370z and then compare it to GT6, the numbers are clearer in GT5 so as the Nissan logo on the little screen, the clock looks cleaner too.

GT5_370Z _ 322HP_261ft/lb_1530 KG_RH Tires_457PP (with an oil change 0km)

GT6_370Z_322HP_261ft/lb_1530 KG_RH Tires_461PP

Autumn Ring Reverse:

Lap time at regular racing cruising speed.

GT5 = 1:29.500
GT6 = 1:29.500

Exactly the same performance even if GT6 give more PP for the same car. Perhaps they have made some adjustments to the PP system . To see this we would have to check the Elise 111R PP for example, very strong in his range.

So , i'll not speak about graphics (very nice too) but it seems to me that they take GT5 and put the new physics on it only. But what wonderfull physics , suspension travel, weight displacement on the 4 points with brakes , accel and wheel, this is a much more sensitive feeling at the G27 and a X 10 pleasure at the end.
I really love this physics. Braking and wheel inputs are much more important now and the reaction seems so true to me, i'm just an average driver in the real life but this is how i imagine it can be when you push such cars to the limit.
Unfortunately i didn't drive a more powerfull car because i can't go online to participate the GT Academy for the moment, but i think acceleration on a powerfull car must be just one more thing to deal at the same high level, together with the others inputs.
This is really another world. I don't want to make any kind of polemic, but i've driven the same kind of cars in many others racing games, including Iracing and Forza , i can say there is nothing at this level in my humble opinion.
Need to wait the full game of course, but i'm already a very happy man.

Thanks PD . Nice work.

Check both interior texture - tach, speedo, nissan logo, clock and steering wheel :)

Hard to be definitive because the angle of the sun is different, but I don't see any reduction in polygons or any degrading of the interior in GT6 as Pepe mentioned.

I don't see how you can draw that conclusion under completely different lighting conditions..but maybe that's just the empirical side of me coming out...lol.

They basically tried balancing everything for an overall better look, some things needed to be sacrificed. It's safe to say in the end the PS3 is working its ass off to make GT6 a reality. GT4 was also pulling the PS2 to its knees when it came out. Just like how GT4 were fans waiting for what GT5 would look like, we will have to wait to see what graphical monster GT7 will be. It's safe to say that everyone was in shock when they saw what GTP/GT5 was able to do with the PS3.

Well time of day was a concern and the silverstone track didn't say the time. I think time of day shouldn't matter because these graphical problems happened in GT5 no matter what time of day. I wanted to see a test of the new lighting system but I couldn't get the time of day in GT6 so I didn't add it because that would be a false test.

I played yesterday and was put off by the amount of Jaggies on screen! how can you say Graphics is an improvement when there are so many Jaggies???? I don't understand, can someone care to explain!! or is it something to do with my slim PS3 on 1080p?

The Jaggies are unbearable.

I was always told you don't play for the graphics you play to have fun, just because there are "Jaggies" doesn't mean you have to stop playing, but if you do that is really dumb.
