Shelby Mustang. ;)

Lol, I know. I was just pinpointing the Shelby thing to remark how sadly awesome that thing is  I can't believe I like it. He did ruin a perfectly good Shelby, and I almost want to handshake the guy.

*punch him in the face*

*lend a hand and pick him up*

*congratulate him for some really good body work*

*repeat until satisfied*

^^Cool thread with newspaper articles from back in the day. Lots of pictures from back in the day.

wtf.

I will sound like a freaking noob right here, but wasn't the LT4 the multicam engine? If it wasn't (as indeed it isn't because I do now remember the LT5, ffs) then what was the LT4?

Noob alert:

The LT4 engine was the engine used on Corvette Grand Sport. It was then used for the Camaro/Firebird SLP. It has 330 hp stock. The LT5 was the developed-by-Lotus engine used on the original C4 ZR-1, which has all the goodies. It has from 375 to 405 horsepower.

LT4 was in the 96 Grand Sport and base Corvettes. It had roller rockers and a few improvements over the LT1. Kind of an oddball as the LS1 replaced it the year after.

Ah, yes, I remember now. It indeed kinda got lost in the LT range. I didn't even remember about it, but ghastly misplaced it for the LT5 thing over there in that black Vette. Ir's a shame those engines were as exotic and expensive as they were, I would have loved to see more aftermarket development for them.

It is a pity that they are so rare and so pricey to tune (and to create), I bet you get some seriously good firepower from a multi-cam engine such as the LT5. That was one of the reasons that made the original ZR-1 so good, that engine. One can only wonder how much horsepower WEST managed to get out of the engine on their Corvette...

iirc Ida Automotive developed a multi-injector setup when they put one on their "3D" 41 Willys:

The thing had 16 injectors or something crazy like that, but I hardly recall another use of a LT5 engine. Mind you, that car was built 10 years ago or so.

LT5 actually had 16 injectors from the factory. Eight were used for normal mode (valet) and the other 8 were added on with the turn of a separate key.

A light would also turn on saying "Full Engine Power"

Freaking magazines of the time all said that was a custom system by the Idas :irked:

Apparently Andy Frost is asking for a little help from Steve Morris, the man that built the engine Tom Bailey used to win Drag Week 2013, to make Red Victor 3 a 5 second street car. I wonder if these changes will soon mean that Andy will come to the US to attempt Drag Week.

Considering that people come as far as Australia to run in Drag Week, this would not surprise me in the least if he decided to.
