This may be the guy:
I wish he had little bit better method on the headlights/taillights, but yeah, those are some AMAZING work. đź‘Ť AHMED's car above my post, too. You guys got some madskillz!

Lots of WIP happening. Got an update on the Annihilator, and 3 other one-off projects.

Have you ever wondered what a Kyosho looks like disassembled or the amount of effort put into detailing? Find out here/

I still have to do a few touch ups, clear coat, and resize the axels ( I'm swaping out the front for another set of rears from the Corvette ZR1 model). But this is the basis of the paint job.

I'm not sure if you guys remember me mentioning how I wanted to experiment with powder coating my cars or not, but the guy my dad works with that does it, finally got it done.
Apparently the oven he had bought took a long time to get, so that is why it has been so long.

Now, before you guys rip my head off for using such a car, I will first inform you that I wanted to use a car that I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about if it didn't come out well. Let me tell you, it came out "better than in the picture" as my dad said from this photo he sent me from work tonight.

Next to try: metal plating. :D

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like the powder-coating turned out quite well McZach. đź‘Ť

Cool looking blog Andy. Very stylish look to it. đź‘Ť

I think I actually might have some of that laying around somewhere, if not my buddy has used brake fluid to polish his headlights before, worth a shot on some of the clear plastic pieces I have laying around.

This is an exciting step you are taking . . . prepare to receive cars for custom painting . . .

Yes, and considering the low looow quality of Hot Wheels these days... the other day Ahmed ruined a windshield with plain alcohol, so there.

Thanks.

The powdercoating turned out really smooth, didn't it?

Seeing the picture is one thing, but holding it will be something else; and I can't wait to do so Friday when I go home from school. Now I just need to find the other pieces of the car to put it back together. :yuck:

Yours was blue if I remember right. I know there is one in this thread, and it's the one that made me want to salvage mine.

Purple. I didn't paint it, just kept the original paint and removed the tampos.

Also, pretty sure that brake fluid will melt the plastic...

Actually, I've heard many times before to use brake fluid to strip paint from plastic.
Never tried it myself, but Stacey David says it works!

Currently stripping the paint off of two old 928s. Both had a hard life and were off brands. They are sitting in double shot glasses full of acetone ( metal parts only).

So if you recall that I said I was going to cut two cars in half and sew them together, turns out I won't be. I had another look at the Annihilator's rear and the Road Runner matches its shape better so all I did was cut the rear fender off the Charge and will simply stick that to the Road Runner's body now. Saved me a lot of work. The only thing I do need to do however is reshape the wheel arches and fit the shutter windows.

haha, cool, sounds like extreme carnage. What did you cut it with, do you also have a Dremel? I don't recall you ever mentioning it :0

I'm going to be cutting the bonnet with my Laser Jigsaw 5000.

and I've always had a dremel. Don't you remember calling me a sissy for using grinder bits to unearth a quarter of the car's base?
