You mean you don't recall the Alfa Romeo Arna?

Will that be the car from the late 1970s that was a collaboration between Nissan and Alfa? As I recall, it had Nissan style and Alfa build quality. It's not surprising that they're not well-remembered, each car had an expected lifespan of about 14 minutes.

Proton WOULD like people to think of it as a Bimmer(those who live in Australia should know) IMO it isn't and Proton can't live long.

It is, as far as I'm aware, American...

1953-1955, in fact... :D

Cisitalia 202 or 202D

Not american but the resemblance is uncanny...
The only difference is the front grill... Its inset while on the Cisitalia its not...

I double-checked my car. It IS American. However the body was produced (hand-produced...) in Italy...

The Cisitalia is vaguely similar in many respects, but the back is different (not that you can see it in my pic), the headlight cowls stick up too much and the grille is only oval until it meets the front bumper (fender), whereas on the *insert car name here* it's oval all the way. Plus the Cisitalia finished production in 1950 - this started in 1953...

according to this site... http://www.carsfromitaly.com/others/index.html
"The last GT cars built by Cisitalia, only five examples of the 202D were built between 1952 and 1955." when describing the 202D... look at its pic...its different than the earlier 202... could this be the same body? I do see the discrepencies tho...

Anyways as a second guess could the italian body designer be ghia or perhaps pininfarina... i feel the first is more likely

Ah yes. My apologies. My book says the Type 202 was 1946 to 1950, with variants built up until 1958.

My car's body was not Pininfarina or Ghia... :D

It was an all-out supercar for the time. 223hp OHV V8. When it finished "production" in 1955, only 19 coupes, and 9 convertibles, had been built. It cost $10,000 at launch in 1953.

That gives it away... Get rid of the body maker Famine, i will not say the cars name, but it is a fairly impressive car for the 1950's

No-one guessing at this one then? I'll let bengee have a stab (fnarr) before I tell you what it is.. Or just give more clues :D

I'm no good with American cars :(. Glad you revived this though.

I had no idea even when you let the name of the body maker slip even though I can't remember it now.

It looks a little like a Cunningham.
But I don't think Briggs Cunningham shopped out body design to any Italian designer.

Hothothothothothothot!

(and there was only one model ever sold to the public, so that makes it....)

It is indeed a Cunningham... Which one of the three..? :D

"The manufacture of each car took a great deal of time. The rolling chassis was completed at Cunningham's factory in Florida, before being shipped out to Vignale in Italy. The hand-crafted body shell was then produced, fitted-out and trimmed, before the completed car was returned to the USA - or to its customer somewhere else in the world"

Ack! Treed by a minute!

911_Carrera UP :D (I love old arcade games... Jet-Pac... Mmmmm)

Dammit I can't work ms paint properly. I'll do it tomorrow morning at about 7.00. Famine or Gil you can have another quickish one til then if you want.

Hehehe.... This should be tough... :D
