How did Gran Turismo Sport make GT franchise no longer a laughing stock?

that's what the mute button is for...have you played PCars or iRacing at all? communication between drivers is critical, no reason not to have it.
Not between drivers, but between an engineer and driver. There's a big difference there. I love this function in PCars. In GT, again, why do I have to mute a child and someone playing loud music no one wants to hear? The function is as you've pointed out, is between players, not a one-sided annoying playground for those minority.

It’s definitely not critical between drivers and it’s an opinion that I have seen posted on other racing game forums too, mainly forza.

If you need someone to communicate with you that they intend to pass or they’re beside you, then you literally need to “git gud”.

While GT is far from being a perfect game, it's also far from being a laughing stock, too. Wanna know what a laughing stock game really is? This game is one of those.

What counsel is this game for, Atari???:lol:

Sorry but that is absolute rubbish, Forza 7 has one of the best car selections to date in any game, it's like the history of motorsports in a box.
The only way I could see anyone criticizing it, is if they have no interest in older cars.

I wasnt trying to say it was a poor selection but how many of the same Indy cars do you need with different livery's? I can see 2 or 3 maybe but when there are like 10 of them it seems like Turn 10 are padding their car count by including so many of the same cars with a different livery.

They are but it's more about driving with a full grid than padding the count.

Hmm what do you mean by this?

Racing games typically start you with slower cars and take you upwards from there. If you already know how to control wheel spin, over/understeer, shift timing, etc then it's somewhat annoying.

There is a good point of starting from the beginning. For seasoned drivers that is only to learn how a particular game's physics work.

I recently bought GTPSP. Problem is, I can't tell what the cars are doing in relation to the track. If I could access my go-to cars I could figure it out alot faster. But nope. Rotating car dealership and credits.

Ridge Racer on PSP is perfectly tuned to the PSP's analog stick as are several other racing games. It seems Polyphony missed the memo.

Whether or not I can pass license tests is irrelevant. Unlocking cars is archaic.

The sounds have made a HUGE difference for me. I feel a lot more immersed than in previous releases. It's by far the biggest improvement overall.

Well, collecting cars has become a tradition in each GT game although the fact that you really have to grind a lot is really boring. Good thing that there are much better ways to obtain cars. Btw, I also observed that GT is a fast-oriented racing game, meaning that your car has to have a very good power-to-weight ratio for it to feel like it's a very fast car. Otherwise, you'll feel that your car is so very slow, something which I don't like about it.

If GT Sport gave prizes at GT League too like older games it will be even faster.

What's wrong with different liveries of same car? Races of that car type will be boring if all cars have same livery ya know (or even only 2 and 3). Different liveries of car has been implemented in numerous games including GT, like TOCA or Sports Car GT.

The main problem is when those 11 different liveries are also classified as 11 cars, thus padding the car lists.

Admittedly it what was happened back then with GT6 but GTSport nearly eliminates them all.

So you are fine with for example, a Super GT event, but all the cars are only 1 the same Motul Autech GT-R? Or a NASCAR event where all the cars there are 1 Dale Earnhardt Jr. livery?

I'll raise my hand and say no.
Just like putting a certain Gordini in Gr.X, forcing us to only do one make races and the only color you get is fricken blue on ALL the cars.
Just a great idea at making a game creative and interesting.

You get what I was saying? Because I think you missing the point entirely.

If they want to put different teams liveries then put them on the paint selections then, not each as completely separate cars.

A bit redundant with the livery editor anyways though the AI should also grab paint and liveries from the Community.

I have observed this in GTPSP, as well as GT5, too. They're exactly the same car. Just having different teams and liveries.

Like a couple of people have already mentioned, a different livery on the same car is just a way to pad car count, that's what's wrong with it. Just offer color/livery choices when buying that car. Does having 11 of the same Indy car with 11 different liveries somehow make each car drive differently or make one faster than another?? I want to drive cars, not liveries.

Nothing wrong with having different liveries (it's a good thing), its when devs/publishers then count them as separate cars, which has occurred at one time or another in both GT and FM series.

NASCAR one is easily solved, but some of the cars are actually different version of that car, like Takata Dome NSX '03 vs '00 JGTC NSX(s).

It's one reason why it adds to the total car count in the game.

There’s a hint as to why this might happen in GT5. The Ferrari F1 car is available with two liveries: they’re the same team, after all. Other functionally identical cars were sometimes listed as two different models, however.

I’d wager that it comes down to licensing. Race cars in particular have a much more complicated licensing procedure than road cars. Name recognition is also pretty important to the teams I’d imagine, and that would suggest individual cars versus a simple livery selection.*

Of course, it still doesn’t change the ridiculous claim that half the cars in FM7 are the same.

* - I’d want to check out RaceRoom to see how that deals with the issue, since it really does seem to just use one overarching model for all teams.

FM7 hardly needs to pad out it's car list, maybe for the odd divisions yes, but certain divisions like Forza GT has more cars than the field allows.
It's not like we're talking about 20 MX5s or Imprezas.

They do in FM7s career mode.
