Well lets start from the beginning of my gt5 experience : When I just had GT5, I was only drifting in Tsukuba and no where else. I just did the basic stuff and was far from good. I remember that I had SAi-66 as one of the first in my friend list for GT5 and he really showed me how to drift that track. So basically, he has been a great inspiration for me. After I stopped playing CoD BO because it sucks. I practiced a lot. I still wasn't really good but I tried very hard. I'm absolutely not the best but I can do great things now, like the big ring in Cape Ring and I also can do a reverse entry on first corners of : Deep Forest, Cape Ring North, Tsukuba, Eiger ( thanks to SAi lol ), Autumn Ring, Fuji, and more other corners from different tracks. I also practiced a lot in Tandem. Most with Professor-Haze , LoosinGrip and The_KingB_.

And the most important was, that I never stop trying till I get it. For example ; I just had to do Eiger every day backwards jump drift lol. While my team was nearly hating this track ( especially Professor-Haze ), I kept trying it or I wouldnt sleep lol. You can ask him lmao.

Since I at least mastered every track once, I'm looking forward to drift more in the Nurburgring.

Thats my ultimate goal and I probably will never do it flawless but I hope I can.

What is your story ?

My story starts when I met a guy names roxxythefoxxy or something like that. I drifted only tskuba with my mazda rx7. I was a car freak and drifting fits me better then cream cheese and a bagel. I learned how to drift by watching the drift bible atleast 3 times for the full time. I progressed and later then I was considered an acceptable drifter. But Then I was still improving, I was right next to a silvia s13 and that was my first close tandem. It was amazing actually and It gave me inspiration to keep improving and soon become a professional at tandem drifting. Right now I am a tandem freak.. And I am still improving, learning how to use more techniques and putting them in use.

I have been drifting in all of the GT games so the physics of GT was very familiar to me from the start. Unlike Duman079, I did not have anyone to show me the "ropes." I learned everything through practicing and just drifting with other people who were good drifters.

As for GT5 though, I started out drifting on Sports Hard tires as I thought that these tires were the best for drifting at the time. I became really good on sports hard tires and started to tandem with other people. Then I found out about GTPlanet and started reading how comfort hard tires were the best drift tires and that all the "good drifters" use comfort hards. So I immediately switched over to comfort hard tires and began mastering that tire type. I then went on to form Team NEMESIS with some other people that had the same interest as me such as becoming good drifters who know how to tandem.

My ultimate goal is to be recognized in the GT5 drifting community as one of the best U.S. drifters. I like to think that I am at that level now but I am always practicing to keep my skills up.

Great story, I also had the same problem lol. My first car I tried to drift in was a stock M3 E92 , with stock tyres : sports hard ( had no credits to tune it lol ) . Then I got My first real drift car : Nissan 180SX Type X. I learned everything with it and still use it.

I started with an s15 , then immediately changed to an s13. Developed my skill on comfort mediums then was convinced by some friends to go to comfort hards , then i formed ACN with Kotkas , Nathan and Chris and started to drift the 370z. Now we've formed to make D-max :)

To simply answer the topic question, Im mediocre at best. I guess I got this average by not taking it too seriously. As far as goals are concernned, I would just like to be able to drift the wheel without flailing around like a fool. :)

Nice guys. Hope everyone achieves his goal & wish good luck to everyone.

It was about time that we talk about the good things in GT5 and stop talking about the few possibility's in GT5. There are few tracks. But you should only complain if you did them without failing all imo. You can also make costum tracks so its a great game.

Lmao, trying full Nurburgring NS is nearly a lifetime goal for me, so you wont see me complaing lol.

Ahhh, my favourite technique. Works for me.👎👍

Started in GT5P With the Sixaxis controller, became very good with it... but then i bought a DFGT and everything was ****** xD
i practised alot, at the end i was able to drift a stock subaru impreza cause of the AWD, tried with 350Z but i didn´t worked , because in real life i drift with a gokart and in GT you have to steer much more of course, that wasn´t so easy, to switch over to this...
then i bought GT5 and i practised every day with the wheel, at the beginning with the Silvia S15 RM, didn´t worked so good, then the nismo 380RS on sport hard tires... uploaded a video here too..
then i switched from sport to comfort tires, and trained with some D1GP cars, but they are too powerful for me, so i bought an S13, but with the big turbo i couldt drift either. So i bought the 300ZX and that´s the car i learned to drift "good"
i bougt a second S15 but without RM, and the ACR Viper... driftet with both and had a lot of fun...
than i found the settingsthread here, changed the setting for my RM S15 and at the momemt im using this car, and im happy with it :)

(sorry for some mistakes, im from germany :P)

im not nearly as good as most of the forum heads but i definitely go hard out there and try to make a clean pass on every lap.

i forget how i was directed into the world of drifting on GT5 but what drives me to improve is the nature of competition and also seeing the talent in some of the drivers when out on the track(s). riding out w/ some other good drivers only wears off on you in the end and you tend to learn different tactics/lines/techniques (both good and bad unfortunately). i tend to surround myself around people who i can learn from and those that are willing to answer any questions w/o being combative.

watching the races also help when learning the lines that people take in certain cars and/or tracks.

the list goes on and on for those who ive watched and learned from..

ja95sc3 / zii1980 / knolas / phx1up / yuyu1400 ? / APX - Bob / BTheRealest / deadly310 / MaliciousMD / DSpec - xGunz / ProjD guys / etc..

shout out to the clean drivers that respect the person in front of em.

@Kickboxritter

Haha, well I still got DS3 and I got nice fluid wheel moving when I watch my replay......... My problem is, that I dont know if I should buy a capture card or a wheel. I can buy both but I'm keeping my money for my license and car irl.

A wheel mate, it just makes games so much more involving and enjoyable these days. Being a long time wheel user i'm sure others would agree that games these days seem to be almost made for this experience. I would say that if I only had a controller to play any of the games I have, GT5 and other top racing games would not get half the time they do.

Thanks, I think I will go for a DFGT, since I dont want to spent tooo much.

But Ignore this post ! Dont get off topic like I always do lol.

I'm not good yet but want the GT2 Fanatec so I can drift good on this and Forza. That's my main goal. Lot's of angle and smoothness are an extra.

Yes, thats awsome. I got a hint for DS3 users : Put your sensivity on -2 so the steering wont go mad when you watch the replay and you can link better imo.

I have played previous GT games, but I never drifted on them. Drifting came naturally to me through practicing. I started out on Comfort Softs, but once I started playing online I switched to Comfort Hards. Then I found the Amemiya rx7 and that's when I started making adjustments to my drifting, it's also when I learned to tune my cars better. I kept playing online, and to tell you the truth I started getting really bored with all the noobs in the servers. Then one day I started tandeming with Reddawn and he offered me a tryout for NEMESIS. I made the cut, and it made drifting that much more fun. Getting better everyday.

Goals: buy a DFGT and compete

I use 7 0.0 I do that because I make super small adjustments when I drift.
I tried -2 and I kept spinning out I wasn't turning fast enough 0.o

Well, the car oversteers easier with the high sensivity. I'd suggest to keep it on 0 or -2. But use what youre comfortable with.

Hahahahaha.... this topic is looking like any kind of "DA - Drifters Anonymous"...

When i have patience ill bring my bio here...

For me, GT drifting has been all about trial and error, learning and practicing and getting bored on the ordinary grip racing. I never asked for help and my own setups are somewhat ok for drifting though not optimal. Also I'm a human being and I make mistakes. But GT drifting is something where I'm at least decent.

I don't have any goals or achievements. I just drift around with the skills and equipment I possess. It's not like drifting is my whole life, it's just fun and joy.

I've pulled a sword from a stone. Scoured the earth for the legendary dragon balls. Kissed a magical stone. I even saved a princess from a dragon. You name it, I've probably done it when it comes to drifting. Oh yeah, except practice.

I drift since gt1 (I was drifting with a Subaru at the time shame on me). At the time I didn't even knew what drift was! In fact in all the racing games I had I always tried to negotiate corners sideways.
When GT3 came I discovered a video on the Internet showcasing a grey ER34 drifting with an orange S15 on Tsukuba at crazy speeds. It was D1GP, I started downloading Option video and getting interested about drift.
I then posted on some forum and talked with Mike le chat noir, Widge and Vince that were the members of the epic team FBI!
Long story short, it's been like 10years I'm drifting in video games if not more.
When I bought GT5 I first tried to drift with sports hard then comfort soft but it wasn't going how I wanted, I then eventually switched to comfort hard and started getting the hang of it.
I still had difficulty with that damn clutch (I use a G27) but then I found that people weren't using it. I was still not really good and had a hard time with the snappy understeer.
I then decided to spend more than 5 minutes on my setups and started to fine tune my cars.

As of today I consider myself as being a good drifter, not the best for sure but with a car I'm familiar with I can drift without failing.

I have yet to try all the tracks (for example Rome that might be a really good track for hi-speed drifting).

riiiight. like you havent mastered that pink z34.

I SEEN EM!

:dopey:

Ive started drifting in gt5 before I got psn I used a ft86 but it was uncontrollable then I bought a C63 AMG to use in my Dfgt and I could get 3 corners at autumn ring mini.

I got PSN then
i joined here anf I joined Southern Sliderz I was the person who could not drift then I traded a chaser for Z34 by my friend Drifta Ajv then I learnt to drift again then I moved onto my ISF but I used comfort softs then accendo tuned my car up for me then I could tandem quite well with my ISF and my Z4.

I hope to be a very good drifter at the age of 13

sstarted in gt5! ever science i got my first car, a nissan silvia s13. It took me 4 months to even get an idea of drifting. Then one day i met this guy sideshowsniper. he helped me tune and told me about the yes and no`s. When i got that paked down all i needed to do is work on my form, Which GV-Skeigher (sorry if i misspelled ) helped me with. then i kept practicing and i became a well rounded drifter. so then i wanted to look for a team. i was going to join suislide but a guy named salmanBH wanted to start a group named team black and yellow. and here i am. my goals are to be better that a well rounded drifter, i want to be a good drifter!

(It's Jimmy281090)

How did i start Drifting.. I don't actually know the answer to this to be honest! I just remember meeting GTWelsh in a room and having a great amount of tandem fun.. Since then we have drift together alot. We used to spend lap after lap around Tsukuba Door to Door without any contact whatsoever and that is no exageration!. From the we joined a team and pretty much ran it etc and now have D-Max to our name.

I like to think my Skills in GT5 Drifting are highly respected by others as there isnt actually a battle we or i have been beaten in yet. I'm always up to the challenge :D..

As the Team says, Suprise suprise Jimmy is winning lol

I had GT4 experience, but most of that time was spent working on execution, such as methods of entry, throttle control, and counter-steering. I had put in a poor effort into driving line as I was too caught up getting a drift going in the first place.

Years later, I get Hot Pursuit 3. I don't have to worry about anything stated above because it's not a factor that was incorporated into the game. This allowed me to work strictly on driving lines which helped me picture the perfect line I can take, where I can get as close to the inside of the corner as I want, how the apex can be visualized before the turn and during the turn...basically everything I couldn't see back then in GT4 and even now in GT5.

With that in mind I've began to work the powersliding approaches into as many corners as I can in GT5.. all on Trial Mountain as that's all I've practiced on in GT4. Given that the grip level is high in HP3, I'd have to adjust in this game since grippy tires means super responsive steering during a drift.
