I remember watching this guy make an epic drift video on GT4, I gave it a try and kept practicing it until where I am now.

My goal is to learn the limit of my drift cars so I can always push myself on track for a challenge.

Never really played gt1 or 2..played around w/ nfs hot pursuit for ps2...then I discovered the Initial D arcade game when I moved to NC in 2003..the irony is I lived in a dorm w/ a LAN setup prior to this and at least 5 friends w/ ps2s and copies of gt4...initial d led to touge drifting vids on youtube, which led to d1gp vids, which led to my first purchase of gt3 and I started to replicate what I saw on youtube...I mastered it w/ a ds3 but when I purchased gt4 the physics were less forgiving...so I left gt for a bit..played d1gp for ps2, enthusia(I wish konami would bring this back) and somewhere along the way came across my 1st dfp..and everything changed....the physics of drifting started to make sense for the 1st time once I started getting feedback from the wheel so I came back to gt4..I tried the xlink method and if my connection hadn't been so crappy back then, I might have been known like the drift dojo people or team fbi but my ping was never to be so no tandem practice for me aside for a short stint on the demo for LFS...I kept at it on gt4, enthusia, and tokyo extreme racer drift 2 improving my technique on each until my gf got me a ps3 and gt5 for xmas...and so now I practice.. I think that I'm fairly decent at drifting as I am, but I feel my true potential is untested due to the limitations of my dfgt in terms of clutch handbrake and gear selection, as well as the fact I can't practice tandem because cause I'm not online..but I was just tboned in an accident recently, so one of the 1st things to the be acquired w/ a settlement(after another car of course) will be internet..then this fish gets to leave the pond for the sea...

Hmm...
I applied for G-Force, met Alex, Chris and Kotkas. Then we formed <ACN>, got a bit of success. Then changed to D-Max and decided to merge with UDT because of having a laugh with Jimmy and Welsh. As for personal drifting, I started on Comfort hards, then changed to Mediums for a week or so, then back to hards. I've pretty much always driven my ISF (In various colour schemes XD) and just practiced ( A LOT).

If anyone wants my advice, just practice in one car with a setup you like until you have the basics. Then you just gotta keep drifting every day until you've mastered it ;)

Shout outs to :

Alex - For just generally being a legend
Chris - For being the guy I talked to about everything (Come back to GT5 mate :D)
Kotkas - For being like the best drifter i ever did see XD
Snipezzz - For a certain joke that got me in trouble :D ( and was very funny)
Jimmy - For being angry... and scottish... and being stupidly fast at racing
Welsh - For being cool and ok'ing the team merge (and for the clio setup :))

, All storys are great and some made me lmao. And yeah Knight spirit. Snipezzz is one of the funniest I ever met lol. Haven't seen him on gt5 for a long time though.

Ahh that sucks.

See you guys around !

Keep an eye on my drift video thread, im uploading my montage tomorrow and im sure its one of the best you will ever see ( not best vid, but best montage looool )!

i started on gt5 prologue in few weeks before gt5 and i wasn't at all good. but when i got gt5 it all changed i won my first drift car a bright yellow 118bhp miata. i quickly put comfort hards on it and started trying to drift tsukuba it took a while and i couldn't make the last corner due to the lack of power. i soon changed to gt 380z on cm i could just drift it but i was still far from good then. i got an rx7 spirit of r and i soon was drifting well. i have to say i have brought at least 20 cars for drifting but i only use one as its my fave rx7. just joined a team and hoping to start battling
hope to eventually beat some one in dmax using my ds3

I started drifting in GT2, in a BNR34. Though most people would say that "AWD Drifting" is not drifting, I beg to differ. I don't want to have a long discussion about "AWD drifting" as this is a post with regards to how I was able to improve my skill and get to where I am today. Now, most of you, if not all, might not know me as I do not go online in GT5. What I do is just practice, practice, practice. Cliche, yes, but it works. I got back into drifting when I bought a PS3 and GT5P came along with it. I did some drifting and I was back on track.. (I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way lol.) So I just ported over my "skills" from GT5P to GT5 and some polishing here and there and bam! I'm sideways almost 70% of my time in GT5 (30% is made up of time attack and actual A-Spec races)

Cutting the long post short, I practice. :) Now for my goal, port over my skills from GT5 to real life. :)

When and if i become a really good drifter i come here and report my bio...

BTW thats me 1 year ago playing Project Torque...

Lot's of practice, self reflection, watching replay telemetery, online racing with good, clean drivers with regulation car's,looking at other drivers on track, watching real racing series and Tsukuba time attack driver's then comparing them to my own.

I want to be a driver in the V8 supercar race series one day and have been exercising to get the strength needed.Feel free to laugh.

I also used to practice on Eiger alot so you're not alone there.:)

Played around with drifting in GT3, then bought D1GP, then GT4. Once Prologue came out I was finally able to drift online and then joined a Drift team (Sidewinders from PSN) Then the leader of the team disappeared so I took over as leader and changed the name to Shadow drift team. Been virtual drifting for almost 6 years. My goal is to drift any car (except FF) on any track on any corner and that includes any course maker tracks. I have created 9 Kart tracks for drift training based on some of the most popular D1 tracks.

I started drifting in gt4, after gt5 prologue came out because i didnt have a PS3. i awlays drifted awd, like r32 and evo's then i bought gran turismo psp and after watching initial d, and another anime series and D1 i started drifting cars like trueno, s13 etc. finally i bouth gran turismo 5 and ps3 and after lots of hours training i became a good drifter! :)

Thats nice. If you think youre good you can apply for a team here on GTP. Teams are recruiting. Team NEMESIS is very good and they are recruiting.

Nah we're not recruiting at the moment Duman... Quite a few of my teammates are inactive due to school and real life...

Thanks for the plug though! :sly:

Everyone started with an S13 or something. Well I started with the 2010 ss Camaro by accident. I was racing and the tail was getting out a lil loose so, being ahead of the slow AI by 15 seconds and a few laps to go, I decided to just drift the rest ofthe race. I have always been into drifting I just havent really tried it my self until now. I just want to better myself and my car.

There is new teams always popping up looking for members.. most accomplished teams on GTP are ussually taking drivers by invite

I learnt in a C63 :sly:

I learned by drifting in LFS (live for speed) for about err... 6 years, of which the last 3 years with a G25.

So I never had any problems drifting in GT5.. Goals? Well I don't have any really.. Other than trying to enjoy GT5 for as long as possible

When i was very small, like 12, maybe 13 my stepdad used to own a shop for car parts, and he went on trackdays a lot. I accompanied him once, and never stopped for the 3 years since. On that first time, he went to the Nurb irl, and one thing i can remember very well. A darkblue BMW sliding past through Echsbach or Brunnchen (sorry if i failed spellign those).

Since then i 'stole' his GT game, and have been obsessed with sliding cars. It took me 3 months to figure out how to get a car sideways, and gradually improving my skills, to what i've become now. I love drifting, and i just consider it a part of life :) (That was GT1 or 2, cant remember)

I started drifting on GT5 by just go on Arcade mode, and get to drift the 350Z. I never liked the S13, i just love the feel of power really.

My goal, is simple: I don't have any goals anymore on GT5, since team battles are impossible with my net. I play just to get a few decent tandems a day, and meeting other people. My goal in real life, i gave up the drifting part in real life for my daughter. If i do tend to drift, it's with my BMW and not completely legal :)

I've always been into drifting myself ever since I was fairly young (10 or so). When drifting wasn't known as a worldwide sport, my cousin will show me all the Best Motoring videos that he had. It had eventually grew on me and I started following drifters like Immamura, Koguchi, Taniguchi when D1 series wasn't even there.

My first experience in drifting any game would be the original Ridge Racer for PS1, for whatever reason the "drift type" cars are the only ones I'm able to win races with. After that, the GT series had polished my skills while still using controller at the time. All until I had came across one particular computer simulation LFS, which is where I really start dvancing my skills with a steering wheel. As some of you might know, I had won numerous drift competitions when LFS was at its prime. My experience had made GT5 seems fairly easy to adapt to with a G25 and also took the trophy of GTPD1 Rd1 shortly after.

I had no particular goal at the moment but my previous goal was to take down 1st place in GTPD1. Hopefully there will be other well organized tournament on its way.

Hi guys, just want you to know that your stories serves as an encouragement for me, I almost give up on learning how to drift. I got a Logitech DFGT and I find it so hard to drift and counter steer, but know, I can drift but just a little bit, need some MORE imporvement. Got an RX-7 as my first Drift Car, Hope sooner or later I will learn how to drift with stability.. Sorry bad english Im from the Philippines..

Well I entered this corner a little too fast (joke). I got this good(read bad) from practice. And from practice I hope to much better. For me it's just fun. Plus Drifting on the streets gets costly.
