How do trade work?

I read a post that said when you trade a car to another garage the recipient has to pay cash (Cr.) not to you but to the dealer? Is this true?  How much do they pay? Full sticker or the reduced trade in value?  Can you trade car for car with out using credits?

Say you buy a car for 40,000 and install another 60,000 worth of upgrades, if you sell it you will get 20,000 or so, but if a friend wants to buy it from your garage, he will have to shell out 100,000

oh, and... no the sad part is, you cant do a trade/swap without paying. The other bad thing, is, the cash that your friend pays goes out into the wind and you dont see a dime - i guess that prevents people from getting 2 cards and cheating

That suck a bit though... i had 2 TTs and wanted a beetle for the cup race. My friend wanted the TTs for the Audi race and when we went to trade, i ened up buying his car for $75,000 and he couldnt even afford mine.
