Well I ask this because my friends band is having me do their website and they want to have AIM buddy icons that play music when you click on them. Does anyone know how to acchieve this?

swfs are flash files, you asked about GIFs....
you cant put music 'behind' an animated GIF, but you can include it as a file in your html so the music plays when the page is loaded...
<embed src="file.wav">
any webdesigner worth his salt will give this a wide berth, it reeks of amateur page builder....no offence..
like sage suggesred a little flash file is much more professional..

I hate unexpected music on the internet. Websites. Email. Doesn't matter. It's stupid. I despise few things more than opening an email from my mother-in-law to see a bunch of moving crap and music blasting. I woke up my son from a nap that way once. Now I just keep my copmputer on mute all the time.
