How do you think the world ends???

^ I believe it is "whimper" not "whisper." I could be wrong though...

On how the world is going to end, at least how I see it:

To be completely honest, I doubt if it will actually happen. I think the cliche (sp?) term "the end of the world as we know it" certainly is a reality these days, and in a best-case-scenario is what will end up happening.

My guess is that we are going to see World War III within our lifetimes, but whether or not I or any of us will be of age to fight is in question. By my predictions, it will happen in Europe, again. Of course, radical Islam will be to blame, factions across Europe revolting and basically ceasing productivity in these nations because of guerrilla warfare, and the realistic threat of small nuclear weapons being detonated in a major city or two.

...Mass chaos, citizen revolt, and the fact of not knowing who the enemy is will get things messy quickly. It will only take a stupid move by Iran or Syria to move it into a full-scale war, one that could include nuclear weapons and fighting forces far beyond that of what our Allied man-counts could be. Destruction would be like nothing we have seen, something like Dresden or Berlin 60 years ago...

Things would be bad in America too. A nicely placed bomb in New York or Washington could literally destroy the nation as we know it, and fears of a second Civil War have always sat beneath the surface. Terrorism wouldn't run rampant here, but with refuges by the thousands headed to the Americas from Europe, things could get messy here quickly, and create more problems than what the nation needs anyway.

I see a future where billions die, money disappears, and those of us left, have to pick up the pieces back at square one. The end of the world as we knew it, once a world of 6 billion people reduced down to little more than 4 billion. Brave men and women dead on the battlefield, nations leveled, entire generations wiped off the planet.

Or option number two, we see a second ice age come in, maybe not as drastic as the "Ice Age" we all know and love, but more like the one that ended in the late 1700's. Hundreds of millions of people die, and maybe a war starts. Either way, it won't be good.

lol, yes... I reckon...however...

Whatever is left of anything can experiance if Darwin was correct. 👍
Don't bet on it... whatever survives the next mass extinction will gradually evolve, possibly into a species of similar intelligence to us (if indeed no humans themselves survive...). They would initially have no concept of humanity or of our understanding of the natural world, so they'd have to deduce the concept of 'natural selection' all over again for themselves. Eventually, out of curiousity, they'd start to dig around and find clues from the distant past, and they'd find a whole host of weird skeletons, including many of ours which had been lying under millions of years worth of rock and sediment - Slowly they'd deduce that complex life had existed on Earth before them, and be able to piece together what life on Earth looked like before they themselves ever existed...

However, in their rush to explain the world around them, and before many of the secrets of the past had been discovered by these hypothetical creatures, some members of the (newly) dominant species may have decided that they were the first, and that they had been placed on Earth by a 'higher power' and/or that the Earth infact belonged to them as some sort of divine birthright... and lo, they might even write a Book about it. Unfortunately, when they subsequently come to discover that they were infact not the first, that life had existed long before them on the same Earth (like us, for example), they'd probably have a problem reconciling this fact with what they had previously written in their Books...:P Either way, whoever (re)discovered natural selection, is always going to be up against it, whether his name is Darwin or not... :indiff:

i heard it's when scarlett johansson will pose full frontal nude in a magazine. the sexual energy released from all the males will accumulate and cause the planet to explode.

i honestly beleive that we can do that. if we were to dig deep enough.

or maybe the life forms before us were that long ago that their remains have de-composed?

The sun will go supernova, explode, and take the earth out with it.

The sun doesnt have enough mass to go supernova. In 5 billion years it will become a red giant, engulfing Mercury and Venus, being so close to Earth that everything burns up. I dont know, I think if Hilary gets elected we'll be well on our way to doom.

Edit: sorry this has already be stated about the sun. I thought I was gonna get to sound smart.

I haven't read any of this thread, but I firmly believe that those damn tralfamadorians are still going to test their silly rocket fuel.

A tangent universe will collide with our own tearing apart the fabric of time and space but this time Donnie will not stay in bed.

Hate to say it GT4_Rule, but... CCX > You

The world will end when the technology of the Space Shuttle and the money of Microsoft are used, by designers of the level of determination not seen since Concorde was actually made to work, to combine the power of the world's nuclear arsenals into one device entrusted to George W Bush.

I want to change my answer, I think the world ends when teh red baron cometh on his helicopeter and picks the world back up again.

See "How does the world begin" for explanation

Where is that crappy "End of the world" animation. You know the one, "FIRE ZE MISSILES!!!" (Had crude language)

CCX
no. that's called a thunderstorm.

No, I just meant a single lightning bolt. No storm cause it will cause too many lightening bolts.

teh red baron will cometh on his helicopter and pick it up and put it in his bag and totally forget about it there and it will rot.
