How Important Should Daily Driver Cars be in GT5?

I really don't care about those crazy sports cars. I'd rather drive an AE86 Trueno/Levin over a Ford GT.
Are you serious? Man get ur priorites straight
Anyway remember guys, Gran Turismo is "The real driving simulator" not "The real Racing simulator". But everything is about racing. funny

That's because they can't lay claim to it being the real racing simulator since it's not the most realisitc racing simulator by a long shot. It is also an open door for anytime anyone criticises any lacking aspect of the racing side of the game.

HONDATYPER, you may want to use proper (or at least understandable) English. Just saying that in case no one else flags you down for it. And people are free to feel however they wish about what cars they want to race in GT games. You have no control. Priorities? Here's what I've had to contend with- "it's a racing game, so life's too short for daily drivers." Either that or, "save 'econoboxes'... race a sports car." No one's priorities are messed up just because of someone prefering compacts or "econoboxes" over sports cars. The thing many of us fail to realize is that Gran Turismo games have mostly been about a love of automobiles with no real preference to class or types of cars. We can just make Gran Turismo be all about sports cars giving no one a chance to enjoy slower and more nimble cars. But look what you do in the process. You deny anyone from having fun with a slower car. Are you sure you want to do this? Because then, people will have to pick a relatively fast car and lightly accelerate into corners. Believe me. I've done this in games where I just wanted to enjoy a low-powered or somewhat fast car.

The best thing about these sim games is that many of the cars are machines that you can relate to and even be able to buy it if you had the money. This isn't like the Burnout series where you have cars resembling real cars, or just not resembling any existing car. What you're getting are real cars you can actually see in real life. Sticking with the theme of real, everyone has their dream car. My two dream cars would be a Ferrari F430 and the Ferrari 333SP Race Car. But I don't have the money for bigtime muscle (still don't have a driver's license). So the next best thing is to enjoy a more inexpensive car that won't cost me an arm and a leg to maintain. Same goes for daily driver cars. The usual logic is that ANY car can be made better by tuning. You hate how the car handles or can't get the speed demon you envision. That's why you tune the car! So a car that sucks can be made better. That goes for ANY car in the game. It doesn't have to be sports cars all the time. You'll be surprised at how some less-capable cars may be capable of upsetting sports cars big and small.

This is purely off-topic of daily drivers- it would be nice to see more Caterham models in GT5. Enthusia had that Caterham with the rag top, and probably would have meant GT gamers would be better able to enjoy the thrill of driving and handling only Caterham can deliver without having it as a "Special Car." And speaking of Enthusia, it's a pleasure to be a part of the Enthusia family. I'm still a GT guy, but I'm certainly convinced with Enthusia. ^_^

what?
Dude I know how good AE86s are. Ive seen em in action so dont call them econoboxes

I DIDN'T call it one. By the way, I'd be VERY interested as to where you seen me type that the AE86 is an "econobox" because I did not state this in my previous post.

As for everyone else, here are the latest Enthusia tidbits. Dig this, players. I recently cleared 45% of Driving Revolution. And as a result, I landed some more cars. For a game with 200 or so cars, there's a BIG number of them waiting to be raced. Here are some of the more Daily Driver-type cars from Class C.

* = not featured in GT4

I'm just providing perspective with Enthusia. There are these models and more. That's all I'm doing.

I think they should add a bit more normal everyday cars/sport cars that an avrage person could have. It would be kinda cool to see the car you own in a video game and see how it performs compared to the real thing.

My original premise was on normal cars not usually considered as performance cars. I will say that one of the best sports cars to sort of be a dual-purpose car is the Miata. The car can handle the responsibilities of a sports car as well as a nice daily driver. It's probably the best car money can buy in which you can have a sports car without paying too much sports car money. Wouldn't some on you agree with me?

The Enthusia forum said that one of the best cars in the game was the Toyota Estima Hybrid. Enthusia has a lot of cars that aren't otherwise considered racing machines. But what Gran Turismo has over Enthusia is the ability to freely modify cars to your liking in addition to enhancing aspects of the car. So imagine your favorte Enthusia rides not in GT4. Then imagine if they were in GT4 or will be in GT5. Sweeter than sugar, right? What more can you ask for? I would like for PD to experiment with more machines not otherwise are solid racing machines. GT2 had some nice variety of races with different types of vehicles. Imagine Station Wagons vs. Minivans in GT5. Now before you start thinking "stop filling GT with useless tat" (like one person said on here), there are still people who find performance in ANY kind of car or truck. Much like I think it would be interesting to have my own little Dakar racer out of the Volkswagen Touareg. I just don't want to see something like Hummers, Escalades, or even Navigators in there. I especially can't stand Hummers (except the H1. Only TRUE Hummer). I found fun in exploring the possibilities of modifying a Honda Odyssey in GT4 to make it a fairly respectable racing machine. And as I say, any car that stinks, that's why you tune it. Chances are it won't be as crappy as you bought or earned it.

Commentary continues per your request.

^ Amen to that!

-> I would love GT even more if PD implement on what John has said. Of course, I would love to use that production-spec Mitsu Pajero Evolution against Isuzu Vehicross, or better yet Honda's US-spec Odyssey Touring vs the JDM Odyssey Absolute, ooh boy!

well photo mode would be kind of dull if I didn't have a variety of real-world metal to shoot. I don't care too much for driving LM cars or Rally beasts. My bag is taking out sports saloons or hot hatches, which GT4 provided enough of. The variety should be more, not less. How about getting rid of all the R34 models and having just one representitive. I mean all those GTR's and not a single 25GT-T for rwd fans. Silly really.
