How many cars do you think GT7 will have at launch? How many in total?

Maybe 400 cars would be the perfect number. And they should be divided into categories. N100-1000, Gr. 1-5

I think it could be anything from 450 to 600. There’s no reason for them to stop creating car models during the pandemic or the delay. There will likely be more returning cars from the PS3 era mixed in with cars new to the series, and there are still plenty of PS3 era cars that didn’t appear in GT Sport.

Polyphony have demonstrated that they can churn out over 100 cars as DLC in a 12 month period. The fact this speed of content didn’t keep up is likely due to models being created for GT7. It might not be as quick making models for GT7 as GT Sport, but the math suggests 500 cars thereabouts is easily possible.

I’m really looking forward to the final car list, I hope there is a surprise or two in there. We’ve already seen a couple of new to the series Porsches that are very welcome additions in my view.

GTS already had 336 cars now. 400 means they'd have barely added new ones (and there are handful of 'fictional cars' in GTS), even significantly less compared to what added for the Premiums in GT6 from GT5.

For me, 650 on release and 750-800 cars at the end. If we get a robust single campaign, we also need a wider choice. PD likes to exceed common standards, maybe this will be another attraction to buy the game. Imagine 750 cars in 8k premium quality.

450 to 500 just isn't simply enough. We all know that Polyphony's been outsourcing to an extent where some of their outsourcers can finish an entire car in half the time it takes for them to do it in-house.

True, need wider choice for robust single campaign. Like for example in GT4, the 1 Lap Magic Mission Races inherently need wide variant of cars, due to the grid being a whole generation of a car/brand. Though still, Forza Motorsport and Horizon are something that has 750+ cars in newest gen console quality.

Yes it wouldn't be simply enough. It's probably kinda unpopular opinion to want more cars here, and people conflating that the game only needs "useful and relevant" cars, the cars that only cater to them. I know duplicates can be a factor in this, but the duplicates in PS3 are mostly leftovers from older games (and also regional difference), which is seen in which JDM are Premiums for instance. But still there are no set limit of how many cars they can add into the game, and plz, wanting for more cars doesn't mean that person won't care/want improvement in other aspect of game like AI.

But you're still sure that GT7 can produce huge number of cars like GT2/GT4, even when outsourcing ()? I long for GT with wide range of cars again. I mean there was a claim about GTS reaching 500 cars eventually but now they haven't reached it yet, are PD saving new/returning cars mostly for GT7?

Regarding duplicates, a lot of them, especially from Porsche and Toyota, are highly likely for GT7. This is just hypothetically speaking, as Polyphony seem to favor these two brands recently more than anybody else.

At the launch maybe around 1200 and later with updates around 1500
One can wish (myself included), but every car in the game is "hyper-premium" and takes a while to model unless Polyphony has a lot of contacts to outsource several hundreds of cars at an alarming rate.

This is definitely the most realistic expectation. There was certainly cars being throttled out to not completely deplete their content from update to update, and whatever the game starts with will be a significant count. Of course, they have to go all in for release to pump up the numbers in marketing. But the follow up cars/updates will be to fully support the game, instead of watering the updates down with the next installment in mind.

Well IMO they should let us all pick the cars, but my favorite are the McLaren's, Ferrari's, Mazda 787B, Porsche, Toyota and BMW. Now some cars tend to oversteer meaning if i'm trying to overcome a tight turn/corner I may lose control and spin out. Frustrating at times.

I think the fact that we can see a used car dealership in the initial reveal trailer does imply that there'll be a very healthy amount of models in the game. Otherwise, I get the idea that if the car list for GT7 was leaner, there wouldn't be a need for a used car dealership, as you could have all available cars available under one menu (i.e. a single dealership selling non-used cars). It seems to be a UI/UX sort of thing, y'know?

Otherwise, I'm going to take a guess. It'll be more than GTS and GT3, and possibly more than the total list of premium models in GT6, but definitely not as many models overall as GT4/GT5/GT6. Either way, a very healthy amount of interesting models both new and old, popular and obscure, for the road and for racing. It'll absolutely be enough to keep things interesting, whether it'll be in future championships or in whatever ends up being the successor to GT Sport's daily races.

Hopeful estimate for launch:
330 from GT Sport (some such as F1 W08 may not return, who knows)
160-210 Premium cars last seen in GT6
40-90 Cars previously Standards (3-6)
20 cars not seen since GT1/2
120-170 all new cars

Making 670-830! So my guess is now 767

I supposed based upon the first delay (hopefully no more delays but being PD who knows) and how much outsourcing they have available. I can see the car count being very good. I predict upwards of around 600 cars with potential DLC making it closer to perhaps 800/850 cars during the game’s cycle. Anything less than 550 to be honest isn’t really enough but we can only speculate at this point.

But IMO, developers doing their thing can also lead to them introduce the players to the cars they've never heard for.

I'm definitely looking forward to the cars that'll be almost entirely out of left field, like that Indian supercar that Gran Turismo worked on.

I'm also hoping all SEMA/Pebble Beach prize winners at this point will be included, as well as the cars that PD gave awards to at the Tokyo Auto Salon, even if that last show only had PD appear for a temporary number of years.

500-550 cars, though the fact the game is now being set more towards a 2022 release is convincing me more about it being possibly 550 cars. Assuming the epidemic didn't impact the modeling and licensing departments too much.

Less than GT4's car roster.
Yes but only at launch, and so until march they can also add some more cars so maybe 450 cars would be pretty possible by then and plus we get the free DLC's and updates where we can reach a total of 650-700 cars by the time goes now, that would be like GT4 roughly, even more considering GT4 had 720 cars of which 100+ cars were duplicates or variations of same models (so many miatas and skyline) so we need to take also that into account. The real car count of GT4 (unique cars) is maybe 500-550 something like that and GT7 with updates can easily reach that, or even more. 600 cars would be great.
