How Old are you and how long you been playing GT?

Im 41 and love playing the game when I can. I have PS1,2,3 and all the GT games playing since '98 when by chance I hired the game to see what this 'GT' game was all about. All out of curiousity and within 30 min's was hooked! I had a MX5 which I struggled with for hours before finally winning a race. The next week I brough the game then built a sim in the shape of a F1 cockpit along with a steering system to suit. IT was made from timber and would fold up then put away when not in use.
Nowdays I have a steel frame sim, pro 900 wheel, 1000w surround sound, 50' 1080p plasma and patiently waiting for the next installment.
It has been set up at most parties so everyone can have some fun(kids, girlfriends, even 60 year old mum had a go!!) as well as competition nights with friends from track days.
Your never too old, we are always young its just the hardware which drops of a little!!

And here I come as the complete opposite. I just turned fourteen, and I have been playing GT for 10 years, starting with GT2. Yes, believe it or not, I've been playing Gran Turismo ever since it was physically possible for me to hold a controller and articulate the controls. and I'm proud of it. My first car was a Daihatsu Mira, and I remember racing for days getting enough money for a Ford RS200. Then racing for a few more days getting the racing modification. Oh, those were the days. I also remember having five Suzuki Cappuccinos in my garage because I thought they were cool.

I'm 14, been playing since 2003(GT3). Only got a wheel when GT5:P came out though.

Still beat you. :P
I wanted to say another thing: I didn't even understand the manual shifting system until about GT3.

Oh how I miss the days of the racing modification.

I started playing GT2 probably a year after it came out.
I had this white Impreza STi wagon that was a beast. I would zero-counter it around every corner before I even knew what drifting was. :D

I'm 17 now.

Been playing since '98 GT and so on, with the Mad Catz for the first two, then dual shock and Mad Catz Puma for GT3,the Puma didn't last long, DFP for GT4 and beyond.Thinking about upgrading the wheel but still in good working order after 4 1/2 years, so don't fix what ain't broke applies at the moment, and I'm 41.

I'm 37 and have been an addicted fan playing since roughly the year 2000 when I started with GT1 after going to a friends house and saw him playing it and I promptly went out and got what I needed to get my fix of this wicked franchise :) I used the Dualshock all the way through GT1 - GT4 apart from using the red momo with metal pedals etc.. exclusively for rallying in GT3 and GT4, I had the option to use the wheel on tar but it never appealed to me in those versions and the arcade style physics so I just stuck with the DS2 in kiddy view ( behind the car ) until GT5P came out and I bought a DFP and went bumper cam and have never looked back since ;)

Here's to another near decade hopefully or as long as the old joints can avoid arthritis :P
Cheers
Ron.

"Anyway, I hope there are some other old fogies like me?"
I still play GT1,2,3 and4. I would be playing GT5P if I had a PS3. :)👍 by the way I am 55 years young and still enjoy all four GT games.

I'm 14 and started playing GT1 around 1999/2000. (I only went on Arcade mode, as GT mode confused me:dopey:)
When GT3 came out, I played properly on GT mode and was not to bad.
GT4 really hit a chord and I got a great wheel with it (Driving Force Pro), (Thanks Mum and Dad:tup:)
Now I've got GT5P and I'm still improving:)

-> I'm 27, I got my PS1 as a gift in 1996 when I was 15; it came with Tekken 2 (bootlegged) back in the Philippines. :sly:

-> After playing NFS2, and playing Togue MAX with my friends; I suddenly stumbed on this game called Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator. It was GT1 as we know today, it was also the JDM-version (also bootlegged). And the rest is history. :boggled:

My Very First Gran Turismo Car (tried GT1 at the mall, before bought it)

*It was silver*

^ Back when the JDM-version was released, the Dual Shock controller wasn't even released yet! :boggled:

~> So pretty much I was one of the first people who played GT1 in the Philippines. :scared:

I am 30 now and I played GT1 at my friend's house in 1998. But first purchased PS2 and GT3 back in 2004 when I was ill for three weeks and now I'm trapped.

I'm 26, I bought GT1 the day it came out. It was the first realistic driving game I bought, I had others like Destruction Derby 2 and Ridge Racer before then. I followed GT1 in the magazines before it came out and on launch day I hasseled my dad to take me to buy it after school. When we got to GAME they had it hooked up to a huge TV and I had a go in the R33 GT-R on High Speed Ring then I proceeded to buy it asap. Been hooked on GT games since, GT4 was the least gripping for me, but the series as a whole has been fantastic. GT1 was the biggest factor in the interest in cars that I have now, GT2 featured cars I hadn't seen or heared of before and that only stimulated my interest more.

I'm 25 and I played GT since its Japanese release Christmas 1997, got in early January 1998. I own GT1,2,3,C2001T,4P,4,5P,TT as Japanese first release original (GT2 also as US). Always imported them right at the beginning and always will.

Rarest part in my GT collection is the GT2000 demo for PS2. One of about 1000, handed out only at one event in Tokyo.

GT started my passion for Japan and Japanese cars. Have been to Japan several times and it's also the reason why I drive a Subaru Impreza WRX STi !

GT 👍

I´m 32, and have been playing GT since GT3 (have GT3, GT Tokyo to Geneva, GT4 prologue, GT4 and GT5p) came out. Funnily enough, I was very aware of both GT1 and 2, but I wasn´t interested in driving games at the time. Now I play almost nothing else!

its funny to read some nostalgic posts here

I'm 25, i had the GT1 but, at the time, i only liked Colin McRae Rallye... then a cousin show me how to play GT and i never went back... its the game of my life!

I'm 38 and have been playing Gran Turismo right from the first one. My racing game addiction started way back circa 1985 with Revs on the BBC Micro - I dreamed of the day when the road graphics would be more than solid black and off road more than solid green. We've come a long way - the features available in GT5P would have been beyond even the wildest imagination back then...

Perhaps we need an old fogies board here on GTP! 💡

Hello there,

I am 36, and I'm playing GT Series since 1998. I always bought (all) Playstations mainly to play the Gran Turismo games, and the PS3 it's not exception...

I started to play racing game in the old 48k, do yo remmember it? It was with that computer that I stared to admire driving virtual cars... it is amazing the avolution of the PC/PS games... just amazing...

Regards,
masas

I'm 60 years old soon to be 61. Started playing GT2 with my sons and haven't looked back.
