I'm 45 and my dear wife bought me GT5 and a G-Force wheel for Christmas 2010. I played very regularly until mid August when I moved to China for a temporary posting. Late next week I will be home for a week and will get a bit of activity in:), then I am gone again til Christmas:grumpy:

Sadly I hit 31 last month :P & have been with the series since the day my pre-ordered copy of GT1 arrived, (whenever that was). Bought my first PS2 solely for the series & have had every copy (except the BMW Demo) as early as possible in my corner of the world. I've still got them & thankfully a PS3 that will play them. My last PS2 slim's still in the closet though just in case. (along with old memory cards/GT saves & whatnot)

As the OP stated, back in the day I was pretty good as well & managed to place 2nd in a GT3 competition that went on during my college years. I think I'd have won, but we were restricted to stock controllers & GT4 had been out for some time, so my driving wasn't quite up to par. (I'd become pretty used to the newer analog inputs) I'm nowhere near as good these days though & don't currently have a wheel, so realize I'm no competition. Still have plenty of fun though & keep my fingers crossed that they'll continue to improve what we've got! 👍

I play various other driving games, but this & LFS are what I frequent most. I'd love to finally build a driving-sim cockpit, but my real cars keep my wallet pretty busy! :boggled:

Wow, I haven't seen you around for a while, not since the 'Ugliest Car in GT3' days! Still obsessed with Mazda's I see. :D

BTW, you have absolutely not reason to moan about being 31. Wait 'till you're in your 40's! :sly:

Hahaha, hey man, good to see you too! 👍 Was totally random that I hit this thread. I've been GT'ing it up a bit more often lately though.. I guess partially thanks to my buddy getting a 60" TV & my aspiring to do the same. Of course I could have done all kinds of neat stuff had I not bought the silly black car in my avatar a few months ago.. :dopey:

Ooh, and thanks for making me not feel quiite as old.

Gran Turismo was developed by Polyphony Digital and first published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 1997 for the PlayStation video game console.

This long I have played, by that you can guess my age. :D

- Here's another hint.

The first racing game I ever played in MS-DOS:

I'm 39 years old and been playing GT's since 1999 and GT1.

Skipped GT4 because I sold my PS2 and focused on PC games for few years. Got PS3 & GT5p bundle when it came to stores.

I started with Commodore 64. Nowadays I mostly play racing games & sims (GT5 and iRacing at the moment). 5th wheel going (3rd with force feedback)...

If we're talking starting points, then mine would be Pole Position on the Atari 2600. Warning: this video is quite dull and may cause many people to self harm out of boredom. :sly:

Back on topic... I'm 43 and only started at GT2. I later completed GT1. :D

57 in 3 weeks. Was looking to buy a new gaming system years back and asked my son's friend his opinion between a PS or X Box. He said he has a PS only because of Gran Turismo. Had never heard of GT but that was good enough for me. That was when GT3 first came out. Completed that and GT4 and went through 6 DF Pros, almost all replaced by Logitech. Stopped playing for a couple of years and then my daughter bought me #5, the new wheel and a 160 gig PS3 for Christmas. Waited until we moved in June and set up my old cockpit and been playing everyday since.

A few years ago I was in the hospital for a routine procedure(ok, colonostomy) and I brought in a GT guide to pass the time. When the doc entered the room he saw it and said' hey, my dad plays that-- all you old guys play that game '.

...and that's where that story finishes. We really don't need to know what 'routine' procedure followed once the small talk was over! :scared:

21, though my first GT game was GT2. Then it was GT1, then 3, then 4, then 5P and then 5.

I enjoyed 2 the most, 4 being the 2nd most enjoyed.

I thought I may be the eldest of posters in this thread until Charlie :)

I will be 50 in late October of this year.

I was introduced to Gran Turismo through my step-daughters PS2 and Guitar Hero, bought GT4; disliked using a console to 'drive'; bought a cheap wheel that daughter broke first half hour

Then we bought PS3 (for Blu -Ray movies too and online play) got Prologue (as well as other racing games and WWII flight games like IL 2 Sturmovik; and Rock Band too:) )

Then bought a G25 mounted on a too low coffee table; bought a Playseat; F1 2010; GT5 and now F1 2011; and here I am :)

36. Been playing GT since the series was born. Though GT4 is still my all-time fave, GT5 is slowly but surely closing the gap.

46. Also been playing GT since the first version. Damn, the game has come a long way.

Highlights: Beating the U.S. version of Driving Mission 34 in GT4, and finishing in the top 300 in the U.S. Nissan Academy this year.
