How to cope with the wait?

As a Gran Turismo newbie, I knew nothing about GT. I saw some screenshots for prologue and read the preview article in psm magazine, and I was very impressed. I remember the wait (a couple of months) for it to be released in Japan (Dec 2007) and then in the UK (March 2008), it seemed to take forever and in reality this was only 5 months.

From the moment it loaded up I was hooked, I was blown away by the graphics and the sound was better than formula 1 champ. OK I was actually dissapointed by the AI after playing formula 1 champonship. But I thought the overall experience was great.

Within a a few weeks I thought I can't wait to get GT5 maybe just a few months, worse case Christmas 2008 (but that would be too long).

Then the wait kept on going, tit bits of news from the offfical playstation forum, an article saying will be released in 2009. The wait.......

I then found this forum which has made the wait more bearable :). Then just before the Forza release and TGS everyone was excited we could feel the end was near. Then after TGS 2009 with the announcement of march 2010 for japan release, time crawled to a snails pace, then more announcements, release date pushed back. The finish line seem further away with each day that passes.

I have only (I say only) been waiting a little over 2 years, alot of you have been waiting longer than that.

My hope is dying, I tried to fool myself they were playing games and it would be out in jan/feb, just so I was happily surprised, this is no longer working.

What's your coping strategy?, and is GT designed so I should be playing GT5 until GT6 arrives as this only works if they show us nothing and tell us nothing IMO.

Accept it, and move on. There are plenty of other things to do in life, as well as console games to play. If you just focus on GT5, you will end up posting threads just like this one ;)

GT5 will arrive when it arrives. I have survived this far without it so I'm sure I can make it a few months or more.

Do I wish it was here now? Sure, but it's not like I'm losing sleep over it.

Play another game, what other option is there?

Actually, there are millions of options.:sly: I agree with you though, if it is bothering you that much gtbillyboy, go and buy another game and another game and so on, to keep you going until the magic day when GT5 is finally released.

Or gtbillyboy, you could keep on moaning in this thread and watch it get locked.:mischievous:

You do the only thing you can do; wait some more. I am sure there are at least 1 or 2 good racing sims you have never played before that could fill you up for the time being. Try NFS: Shift maybe, or Forza if you have a 360. rFactor is awesome as is GTR2, both are PC games and you obviously have a PC so try those out. Hell, you might even forget about GT5 if you play these games because they are just as good, some are possibly better (eek! I should watch my mouth around these parts).

I believe you meant tid bits.

It's been suggested before but I still think Cartman had the right idea in South Park episode Go God Go

Personally, I plan to get on with my life. It isn't so empty that I must sit around doing nothing, wishing it away.

Nope. Titbits in the UK.

The wait is difficult, and all these tiny bits of new information that surface from time to time have driven a lot of people crazy...There are only two games that I really care, GT and Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XIII is utter rubbish and I have lost hope in Square completely. I just hope GT5 will live up to the hype in the end (I am sure they will). Yes, It will arrive when it arrives, I will just wait.

Now I am actually looking for a PS3 racing game to play instead of GT5P...Should I get SCC or NFS Shift? Anyone has got suggestions? many thanks.

Chill guys

He's relaxed.

I hate to say this, but hanging around here may help initially, but in the long run you'll start wishing you hadn't. It's addictive if you've nothing better to do in your daytime.
I don't mind, i'm being paid whilst i type this.

The problem is, it's a silent addiction, looking for news and forever being frustrated with terrible blogs and half hearted journalists.

Luckily (I guess!!!), work has been flat out so any time I get to play any of my games is great for me, so as long as it isn't another year I think the wait will be painless!

I enjoyed Ferrari challenge quite a bit as a fairly raw racing experience, although not a big Ferrari fan, so I would guess SCC would be the go.
Shift felt broken (control wise) to me and just as arcadey as the previous NFS games, I HATED it, first game I have sold in ages

@gtbillyboy if you dont play ever GT4, you must to do it!, so you can get use with the overall GT concept.

Ride a carbon road bycicle. The carbon is so rigid yet light you will be flying with no sweat, it will give you out of this world sensations and you will forget about GT5 for a long time.

I shall be enjoying some dynamic weather,

I shall also be enjoying some Dynamic weather with Silent hunter 5 in March, as well as some new FSX (Flight sim X) aircraft addons coming this month which has a even better dynamic weather system :P

Hey guys, does this photo look like the last sharp turn at Indy Road Course or the final bend at Silverstone.I'm thinking it's Indy, but to me looks slightly different.

Thats just after turn 4 at Indy.

First of all I have to say its only a Game!
There are so many other beautifully thing in live. (I just loaded the battery from my bike :) )
Then, hanging around this awesome forum helps a bit. I bought my PS3 with GTHD. Since then i am waiting for GT5.
Last weak I build a Playseat to get a little bit relaxed. And now I am crossing my fingers for a bit good weather so I can drive with my Bike to the Nordschleife and train a bit for GT5

Perfection always costs: Money ore Time! We have to deal with time and that is OK.
