How to drive the other cars?

Okay, so I'm new at GT5...

I believe that when the game starts, it gives you about $30k credits or so, which isn't enough for a lot of the cars I want to drive in the game.

Is there anyway to drive the other cars without earning credits? I couldn't even do it in Arcade or 2 Player mode!

You gain credits by buying a car and winning races.
