How to properly start GT7?

Just realised that a non stop race on intermediate tyres are impossible after 1.49 ( i think ) update that nerf the tyres one more time .
So RH tyres , High FM number, pit before rain starts and wait to dry very good the track before change to RH again while calculating the laps remaining on fuel can change accordingly the FM.
Usually Spa its a 24 laps race .

I wouldn't say that it was nerfed but instead turned more realistic. Intermediate tires usually burn faster than softs on dry tarmac. Notice how Perez went early for intermediates and gained positions, but suffered from lap 10 onwards on dry condition. RBR inverted pits, calling Max first for softs which was more than enough to obliterate the 3,5s lead that Perez had.

I agree that is more " realistic " but for all of us that used to search cars that work for lazy griding was really a nerf 😂
Especially at La Sarthe was many cars working all the way non stop on intermediate tyres but that's was good old days .

What I understood is that I need to spend a bit more time with the game before I will be ready to set up a car, change tires and refuel:-)
Try to finish the missions rainy Tsukuba, Tsukuba 1h, Least fuel longest or fastest lap and Pit in or stay out. These will teach you a lot about fuel and tires management on ever changing conditions.

Completed my first weekly challenged and ad part of it had to complete MB 40 and 41 too. Got two nice cars:-)

But Mazda VGT is insane fun to drive!!!

The SRT Gr.1 is a beast!
Another excellent VGT Gr.1 is the Bugatti, with nice handling and impressive fuel saving for endurances.

Excelent gifts, but the racer version of Genesis X is even better.
Bugatti Gr1 is very safe and relaxing VGT for endurance races .
The weather education of mine took place at La Sarthe university.
Hundreds of races with different cars or with the same car for weeks.
Spa wasn't at my preferences due to one hour mostly and cause at La Sarthe you can run almost every car available.

I started now MB 42 and the first race is Daytona 10 laps. It is for the first time I had to experience a pit stop: change of tires and refuel. I finished really nad (8th) and I think it was down to not having right tires and pit stops. Need to understand it better.

Gr. 1 prototype series. Daytona 10 laps. Which tires better to have? I was racing on softs. 2 pit stops.

Ok, so I purchased hards and softs and approached the race differently and won in! Not sure why I got a 3 sec penalty after the pits…I tried not to cross aby line.

Absolutely not an expert on tyre management and fuel strategy, but I often try to do one stop max for fuel and change the tyres only if needed, so I'd rather go RH or RM than RS, and FM6 or a bit higher.

The most important factor being most of the time, how fast my lap times are (and the overall duration of the race). Not a problem to be a bit slower than fastest AI, as long as they pit at least one more time than me.
