Great storyteller man. I could imagine myself as if I was there. I want more awesome imaginative stories of past races!!

O, and yeah, he's has nothing better to do then to pull your leg I guess.

Hmmmm, had a race or 2 earlier today against a fellow, Kiss_me_quick, an Englishperson. Beware this guy as he IS a punter and heaven forbid if you get the upper hand of it, as I did. From what I've heard and seen, he/she is in a tuned GT LM.

I recieved a flood of insulting messages from not just this account but also 2 others. I replied and then blocked him as well as the 2 other accounts he/she sent them from. Said messages were deleted. I did think of keeping them, but really, whats the point?

The sooner this sort of thing can get jumped on the better. Afterall, its not life or death, its just a game, right?

I have come across this guy and you are right he is a dirty player, plays a lot at Fuji Ferrari event.

Sonny, it's a real shame this happened. It's clear you take your sense of clean and fair driving incredibly seriously and it isn't that easy for you to shake an accusation off, however preposterous.

In this case, speaking utterly selfishly, I wish you had just let him be. We could have had 2 or 3 more excellent clean races at Suz 600 if it wasn't for the time he made you spend attempting to change his mind. Cut can you see? If you choose to get involved with someone who won't let their opinion be influenced by facts...it's going to actually get in the way of your own gaming and pleasure, which is the whole reason you decided to take time away from everything else and dedicate it to GT5P online.

You're not a punter, never have been, never will be, You're a thoughtful, respected and thoroughly clean competitor.

All the best
Maz

hmm I had two race with Kiss_Me-Quick in them today... 1st was no issue at all... 2nd I got hit twice but in all fairness I had a message off him/her over PSN apologising and explaining.

First time I've ever had anyone apologise!!!

On another note I had a race with someone who was "teleporting" all over the place in front so assume was a lag issue.. anyway was a good 3 lengths ahead of me when just appeared at 90 degrees to me and ran off the track... whether or not he thinks I hit him I dont know but was a good 3 cars lengths anyway... anyway guess lag does cause a lot of punting problems

I had couple of those apology msgs and that was cool after kind of race thing but today this one was in a faster car and i left him tons of space to pass and he still hit me in both races :)

If this thread becomes a punters & ranters thread , then it'll be closed pretty soon.

As it turned out, the discussions I had with the guy and the subsequent "No I'm not/ Yes you are." messages that zipped backwards and forwards between us revealed 3 things:

1: The effort was worth it as I did convince him to race me again just to prove a point.

2: That race had both of us rather chuffed because it turned out to be clean and great fun.

3: He's now on my friend's list.

Perhaps there is something to be said beyond the swearing and crude remarks that initiate conversations of a "punters" nature. A bit of reason, a bit of common sense and some meeting in the middle ground may be all that's needed. I was shaking with rage after the incident of being called a punter and after a day of messaging, I ended up with a grin on my face and a great racer on my friends list.

Do punters really exist? Are they a figment of our misconceptions, shadows on the circuit that fleet about in moments of heated battle?

I am going to come clean here:nervous: when i first started racing online with GTP i was not the best, if someone was in my way i thought nothing of hitting him out the way and also cheating at Fuji, i then had a message off a member here (GTP_CIVIC_R) explaining the error of my ways, i listened and tried it his way and must say my gaming experience improved vastly, i also got a friend on my list and he pointed me to this forum 👍

Ive done this. Sometimes that is all that it takes. Send someone a little message letting them know their punting ways are ruining other peoples good time. Its a 50/50 shot. Sometimes you get the "bug off moron" response but other times you can make and meet a great racing friend. Ive got 6 people on my friends list now, (all were poor competiters), all because I sent them a tactful message. Its worth the couple of minutes. If ya get the return message to "bug off" then LET IT GO. You don't need that clown ruining your experience.

The only true bit is about the messages, the liar is just covering his arse.

5 races at Fugi never made it round once without getting puntted out. What you might have seen was retaliation which I admit is my downside, then again was you sober enough to judge.

Just so you know, Bollocks#999 is a long time, and well respected, member of the GT community. If he says that's what happened, I know who I believe.

Once again shows that lag can make you punt people without even noticing. And that the host doesn't necessarily notice that the race is extremely laggy, in fact he's probably the only one not to notice.

Very true, I know all about it. Sometimes I just drive after a person, and he suddenly seems to get hit without me feeling it on my steering wheel feedback. If these sorts of things wouldn't occur, our race incedent would have never happened I think. Victims of lag... :ouch:

But from which country are you, Zabeu? Here you have allemagne, what's "germany" in french, and online you have GB if I'm right?

I can vouch for Bollocks as well because I have been racing with him a lot these last couple of weeks and he's definately clean... As for Chopperaxe... Learn some proper grammar and give that last post of yours another shot...

@Chopperaxe
Looks like you are alone mate.

Had a few opportunities to meet bollocks, great driver 👍

Hi Bolloxs#999
I believe i saw you racing last night at No mercy...had no issues with you at all - but a fellow country man by the name of "scibba" was a problem.

Have you raced him? Does he play fair with you.?

I would not usally complain about this but the abuse he gave me for confronting him was completely out of order.

This was not a lag problem, he put me into the sand 3 times - i never touched him once as i passed him - he just waited behind me until the time was right and punted.
His english is not the best, but i think he said he was GTP! does not deserve to be in my book.

Sorry for the rant but I did not know where else to put it.

Thanks to all the fair drivers I have raced so far.
NZ out

I guess some here can't read, or they simply don't care just as long as they get to rant before the thread is closed.

I just realized, I have this kind of 'lag-accident' on tape!

In this video, look situation at 1'00... that could be 'evil-lag'. I dont hit Grim Reaper, but his car acts like I did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWbECIybFv8

Question is, how many accusations there have been with 'no reason at all' ...only because of this 'evil-lagging'.

I never intended this to turn into a name-calling thread, all I wanted to do was just highlight some of the misconceptions of a term that gets bandied about a great deal.

I'm not sure who was the first bloke to coin the term "punt", "punted" or "punter", but it has become an oft-used term in forum circles to describe an unfair or deliberately dirty racer. It's rather offensive for me and I'm sure a great deal of other drivers out there too.

As I've gone to lengths to not drop any names in regards to who called me a "punter", I'd expect that other people would not hijack this thread and start using it as an opportunity for a cheap shot at other players under the guise that "this is a thread about punting."

Yes it is a thread about the nature of punting and how things can be very easily misconstrued. But it certainly isn't a thread about cheap shots and black-listing.

If some of you guys want to carry on personal vendettas and start picking sides, then by all means go create your own threads so Sphinx can close them down.

Illustrates the point exactly, also at the 1:50 mark you can see two punters at work.

I wouldn't been inclined to label anyone in that race a punter, it all looks like lag to me.
For more on lag, here's a pdf. that explains symptoms and causes.

Laggy or not I always asume that If there is noise of contact, then there must of been.

Indeed, but I often I've had no contact sound or feeling and notice the car I was battling with fly off the road at high speed, I wait because I can't see any other way they went off and ask them after the race what happened and it almost always comes back the same.... They got hit off, hard!

but on my end, no sign of the hit at all.

👍 this is a cool thread

so many can share experiences on getting rammed as if it was "Demolition Derby simulator"!! LOL it's like... don't cha know how much these cars cost?! :boggled:

if the game is supposed to be a real driving simulator, then frankly those people behind the wheel ramming everybody full on have the potential to be a raging lunatic! :dunce: haha who I tell you... who would drive a Ferrari straight into a Ford GT40? who??!

and is it just me or has anyone been rammed or side swiped in a turn by someone and unjustly hit with the ramming penalty?? :banghead: that has to be the worst thing EVER in the game!! :scared:

it definitely takes a cool head to play such a competitive video game. let me tell ya... some people out there would do whatever it takes just to capture that 1st place finish LOL I've seen people unhook the other person's controller in fustration to try to win the game!! 💡.... and some people just love to play the game (when everybody wins!)...

yeahhh, it can lag at times, but right off the bat, you can tell who's good and who's the better driver... or possibly who has the better car... and that's what I thrive on when playing Gran Turismo™.

I've been playing since Gran Turismo 1 and had no one down to play with really... Racing on Gran Turismo simulation ONLINE is a BLESSING. in a sense, the way people drive can reveal some characteristics. like... the wreckless drivers would take risks nobody would take. the conservative stay on the track. the awesome drivers do a little bit of both and do it consistently *raises hand*.

You know it's a good race when you go back to back with somebody. After about 4-5 consecutive races with someone it seems like your pride is at stake. "Bring out the fastest machine you've got or better go start tuning!!"
