Lol why has everyone got there panties in a twist. Seriously I bought the code for all 6 stealth cars yesterday and I was willing to pay $50, and I got it for $50. No harm done so everyone can have a warm glass of sthu lol. If you dont want it, just ignore it... If Sony were offering stealth via DLC, I would of bought it that way instead I had to resort to eBay. Great!

Hey Guys,

I must say after reading this thread i feel kinda bad, yesterday I purchased all 6 DLC codes for $50 from e-bay, i didnt mind paying that much for them since i got the game at a super low price at a midnight launch. Had to pay around the $50 mark for the cars regardless as the only sellers selling AU DLC codes had them for that price, I seriosuly dont regret it one bit tbh, I completed about a weeks worth of gameplay in 1 night.

Im not to interested in beating the game straight up as it would take up to much time and all i really want is to be able to buy & modify all the cars i want and race a few mates wether its online or split screen.

Regarding the notion you can't sell in-game content because you don't own the code itself: That's incredibly flawed logic.

Still, supposing...they'd be selling that portion of their license to play the game; effectively the same as selling a used game to whurreverr. Picket gamestop?

Well I think it's wrong for people to sell codes and some of you don't, but this problem shouldn't exist in the first place, if they allowed people the choice of buying them via DLC, no one would buy the overpriced codes off ebay and we wouldn't need to have this discussion.

That is an excellent point.

If people are smart enough to sell them and make some money and others are dumb enough (like me) to pay for the codes then who cares.....you do not have to purchase the codes if you do not want to.

On that note....if anyone has the US codes for the NSX, 787, or R10 I'd pay up to $20 for each.

Won't be long before someone sets up 10 PS3's running B-Spec auto grinding all day long to make cash to buy constant F1 cars, to then sell on Ebay non stop. Would be pretty easy to write some kind of app to keep doing some b-spec race over and over, just letting it auto-grind.

Never thought that someone will buy those for more than 1$ each... It seems i was wrong. Oh well, if some people really can't live without those cars and willing to pay those money for just a car in the game... It's their money, so they can do whatever they want with it.
And of course there will be people who will make money from anything, even from free dlc cars like GT5 has, it's a life.
But at least not everyone is like that, i've seen someone gave away at least 10 or so stealth cars codes on gamefaqs a few days ago. :)

By the way... i've got all 6 stealth cars for free when preordered GT5 (had choise to buy EU normal or CE version when game was released). And that's in my country, where's console gaming are not popular at all. So i kinda thought every european country and USA of course have this as well. And i was really surprised when i found that most of the stores giving 2 codes for a preorder at best or even 1 sometimes.

No. Other people may have turned it into that but its not what this thread is about. This thread was just about GTPlanet advertising stealth codes here that are for sale on eBay, obviously at outrageous ripoff prices, which some people will no doubt buy and will be ripped off in the process.

However, on the marketplace board , there is a thread saying if you rip someone off on a trade regarding in game cars that you were going to trade with each other by not keeping your end of the deal, and that don't cost real money, they will ban you from this site and report you to Sony to get you banned from PSN.

It's kinda like, wait, what? You don't mind pointing people to codes for sale on eBay for real world money at extortionate rip off prices but you do mind people not keeping their end of a deal concerning car trades in the game and will ban them from the site and report them to Sony to try and ban them from PSN???

Do you see what I mean?

I would imagine GTPlanet gets paid for putting advertisements up.

Bandwidth to run a website is not free. ;)

I have a code for the chromeline cars that I was thinking of selling on ebay but if people are so against it maybe I will just donate it to a deserving GTP member.

Selling something you don't own is wrong, the people who sell in game content on ebay deserve to be banned from ebay and the PSN, but it won't happen.

You technically don't "own" anything when you buy a game. About all you own is a piece of plastic, the developers can easily make it worthless and you could do nothing about it.

ACtually they couldnt just "make it worthless" - that woul dbe fraud - charging money for a good or service then not delivering is actually a crime thankfully ;)

I wouldn't be surprised is Sony is actually happy with it. It so happens that game content is being sold for real money, it's not the first time, it's not illegal, and the games subjected to it are legendary/cult games that have their myth-factor strengthened by things like this. Also, how is it different when a company sells DLC for real money (hint: it's exactly the same)? It's useless to whine about how other people use a game, whether selling content online, using exploits or eating porridge off the game discs. Take a deep breath and relax :)

Of course they're happy... They now know premium cars are going to sell like gangbusters in the PlayStation Store :)

Wow ... I have the SE.

It comes with 6 x stealth cars and 5 x chromeline cars.

Judging by the price of the codes, I have got my money back and then some!

I never completely got this... The European Signature Edition automatically comes with all the Stealth Cars, i.e., no waiting for an e-mail from the stores crap?

Yes it does, it also cost 3x the normal edition.
I don't quite get this thread, these codes are one time codes, that means I cannot use the code and then sell it, why should Sony or PD care if Joe Soap or Joe Blog drives the car?
As for selling it, I have the signature edition, if I dont want to use the cars wy should I not be able to sell them, I paid extra for them afterall.

A little education can go a long way.

Here are some things to read up on.
1. Supply and Demand

2. Rich Dad Poor Dad

I can honestly say that both make more since then most things in this world and everyone would be better off knowing these things sooner in life.

Both of these links have more relevance than any other post in this thread.

In short. If someone has it! Some one will buy it.

This isn't oil folks, these codes are not regulated! If you have them, Sell them. If it is not a scam, then I see no harm in it. If it is not against any rule with the game you have for Any DLC, no harm no foul!

When you buy software you don't own it, you just have a licence to use it. It's the same thing with these codes, by selling them, you are effectively selling game code, which you don't own or have any right to sell. It's totally wrong for anyone who hasn't spent any time developing the game to make money out of someone else's hard work.

Do we own our own passwords? Could we then, sell those?:mischievous:

When you buy a game (or any software for that matter) you don't own it, but you own rights to it. This legal construction prevents you from creating copies of that software, but you are fully allowed to sell your rights to the software, regardless of wheather you got it for free, or paid for it. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to trade in games and get certain percentage of the games' price back... Selling free download codes may be immoral, but it certainly isn't illegal.

So your telling me if i buy a rare Ferrari in real life, hold on to it for a while, and sell it for $10 million profit then i'd be morally wrong?? Because essentially i'm making tons of money off of Ferrari's hard work and reputation. Well, things don't work like that, people have the right to sell what they own and these codes are no exception. They aren't selling 'game code', that's ridiculous, they're selling 'one time use vouchers'. These codes can only be used ONCE. It's no different than selling the free copy of Windows that comes with a computer monitor you bought, it's never been used so you can sell it.

Where do you guys think the codes that people are selling are coming from? I doubt if even half of them are people selling codes that came with their game. I have seen tons of people complaining that they never got their code, or it has already been used etc, you know why, it's because people can sell them on ebay. Also what is to stop someone buying up a lot of the codes and then putting up the price, this code selling is just like ticket touting and it's hurting the consumer, I can't believe you can't see that. I wish that people weren't stupid or desperate enough to fall for this, but sadly everyone can be sometimes.

For people that say it's their code so they can sell it, most codes come with conditions which include that they can't be transferred, so obvioulsy it shouldn't be sold. I don't know whether this is the case for these though since I haven't had one, but I would be surprised if it isn't.

I got my code by pre-ordering from Amazon (they had the Mercedez SLS AMG) it didn't come with terms or conditions of any kind as far as I saw. I know Gamestop had a bonus but i'm not for sure about other retailers outside the US. All the Stealth models came with the Signature Edition of the game, and as far as I know that was the only way to get the Mazda 787b. Which is probably why it's selling for $50 on ebay, its rare.

And about people not getting their codes, accidents happen, they can return the game and get a new one. But people saying their code was already used?? That's not because people are selling their codes on eBay, DLC vouchers are numbers and letters randomly generated by advanced algorithms...i doubt the same one ever pops up twice.

There isn't a conspiracy going on. The car is rare, people want it buy it, so they search on eBay in hopes of buying a voucher for it. On the other hand people who actually have a voucher see this car is selling for $50 and say, "HEY!! I haven't used mine yet so i'll put it on ebay." People couldn't care less about how 'moral' and 'legal' this issue is, money is money.

I pre-ordered from amazon.com
I only got a code for the chrome-line cars. How did you get a stealth car?

Before the game came out, a lot of shops offert stealthcars as a preorder bonus.
I got 2, the Nissan and the Mercedes.

Seeing those prices I could have my game for free...selling both.
But it made life easy in the early days, 2 of those monsters.
Now I bought the Mazda 787 (ingame ofc^^) and also have the, even faster, Toyota Minolta in my garage.

Tbh...In my opinion it is not worth so much money...but well, different people ,different opinions..

I think GTP needs the advertising to pay for the bandwidth used by stupid threads like this, seriously if people have got these codes and don't want them then there is no harm in doing whatever they like with them. If people are willing to pay, and they don't get ripped off then it's all good.
