What does reball mean? Cheap? I looked on ebay and people are sell ing a whole bunch of jailbroken ps3. (no copy protection). Would those be good? Though I could be hacked if I got one.

Many people try to 'Reflow' their ps3 processor chips by heating them with a heat gun- this slightly melts the old cracked solder between the processor and the motherboard. (there are about 3000 youtube videos demonstrating this technique) The problem is that sony has used a lead-free solder which will inevitably crack again after some time (usually a couple months or less) so the popular 'Reflowing' is a very temporary fix- BUT, it may allow you the time to do a full ps3 hardrive backup onto a portable USB hard drive.

'Reball' is where you send your ps3 to a tech (they advertise on ebay and the service is usually around $60-$90 including shipping, and the buyer feedback seems to be very promising) and he completely removes ALL of the old lead-free solder and remounts the chip using a plotting machine and all new Leaded Solder. They usually offer warrantys lasting up to a year and claim that if your ps3 fails, YLODs, or BRLODs again- it will not be the processor/motherboard connection. It's another component that will fail- which is quite rare, from what I understand.


It's DEFINITELY worth a look. I'm sending mine in this weekend. (paid $70)

I agree with you. There's something about GT that is so addictive. I can't put my finger on it. But even after weeks of not playing it, i am forced to put my gt5 disk just to get a fix. It is a god damn drug this game

As one of the other op said yesterday, they have games they havent even played yet because gt5 stays inside the disc trey. My old battlefeid bc is stil in the plastic. So is my madden 12.....wow wtf gt5

Why do i get the feeling your trying to put words in my mouth. Why would i complain about a game being real? Even in real life you can drag any way you want to whether its fast shifting, slo shifting, 3 gear creations or 6 th gear.

I told you that forza has the worse online community of the games and that was a turnoff. Hell you can add gt5 online to forza with forzas unattractive tuning and i may say its decent. Thats how terrible forzas online communtity is.

I tried trying something knew, so since I had an xbox I brought forza 4 collectors edition. The cars was nice and the racing was intense. Then I fell out of love with it within a month. When I came home from work id put my kids down and hope on gt5 online and chill with freinds, racing ss7 for a night cruiz or just tuning trannys for drag racing...everyday rutine. I recently find myself not hoping on the new forza like that and havent for the past 3 days. the online community is terrible, I tryed 6 gear tranny drag tuning to drag but everybody uses like 3or 4 gears and blows u out, the feel of the cars are fake, graphics are below ave, and so on....the onlything forza is good for and beats gt at is compatition class racing only. In gt you can pick a car and blow a race away, in forza4 you pick by class and will constanly be looking over your shoulders till finesh.

You're complaining that a 4 speed can work better for drag racing then a 6 speed. I can't tell you why though.

GT5 online is good? Hmmmm...no.

Quite frankly, all I ever see online, is glitches and random disconnects. It's not very good at all, I get to race a few times if i'm lucky.

And no, it's not my connection, mine is perfectly fine.

Maybe playing with the random people online is bad. But when you have a bunch of people, and a good room, its great! The people I race with, race clean, and race for a long time. I can't say I have ever been disappointed with the multiplayer aspect of gt5.

Point is that I dont like the style of forza tuning period. I dont care that it may come close to real life because I dont drag in real life.

I simply like tuning 6gears for drag in gt5 along with people that can relate, even if its not compared to real life drag tuning. Its more challanging

I got the game a few weeks ago...since then madden 12 has been sold and for two weeks I have been thinking about cars all day long...trying to pass all the lisences...trying to win all the beginner races...hell wasting a good 45 minutes in photomode on one bad picture...and I'm not even a car guy...gt5 ftw!

Actually, since you can speed up the transitions, it's useful in any race. Sure, it smacks of Hollywood fakery and is cute, bit it sure is cool!

Anyhow, bought another game.

Sooooo true, GT5 really is addicting, I bought Saints Row The Third Platinum edition at its midnight release, played until 3 AM, had a blast, went to bed, woke up, played GT5 lol.

You can play other games and gt5 at the same time. I do. I usually play those games once but I always pick up gt5 later that day and tune, or buy cars or whatever.

that's the whole friggin point. Apart from being an innovative feature which that earlier poster was clueless about, it is also one of the best racing features ever.

And it's not just great in a 24 hr race. It's awesome online too when you can fiddle with the dynamic settings and have a blast with 16 other super quick racers.

Go for it.
Its a good game, but I wouldn't say great.
Then again, neither is GT5.

Its novel and a nice touch for endurance races. Other than that, all I can say is, you must really love the sensation of time passing.

Ok guys im back in a flesh. Just poped in gt5 about to start over. I did just download the gtr stealth car to start me off. It looks nice. Code still works

Cant wait til monday to get the other gtr from the time trails.

Well, I consciously want to play something else. Too. The problem is that also consciously, GT5 really is a great game. Racing is apparently my favorite gaming genre, and the sim guys probably hate that I keep saying this, but GT5 feels like a PC sim without the staleness and roster of repetitive cars. Just imagine if GT5 ONLY had Skylines, Miatas, Subis and Mitsus. Well, this is very much like the car list of most PC sims. And yes, the time of day transition is just too cool.

I would like to play Forza 4 too. But then I think of how the handling is a pain to adjust to, and as I said in another post, the bots are like a bunch of Jeremy Clarksons in various bad moods from drunk to angry, aaaand... I go right back to GT5 and have the drive of my life.

Not bad for one day of play huh? And this is from scratch. Though if anybody want s to donate me some matt paints and chrome silver or gold it would be greatful.

Must agree with you on the bots, they are unpredictable at times.

The handling issue is a surprise.

To me its much easier to adjust to FM4 than GT5, and it has a much better tire grip model. The racing tire maybe a scooch short on grip though.

GT5 is more rigid and harder to adjust to, but both are pretty good overall.

Of course, if like vandaliser you are overwhelmed with the sensation of time passing, you will have to stick with GT5.

Level 20+ and more money can be had in 3 expert seasonals that I believe are still open, all you'll need are a Fiat 500, Lotus Elise 111R, and '10 Subaru Impreza, and some practice.

The license tests are what took most of your time, and they're not very rewarding, even when all gold.

I say this assuming you're trying to go through the game in a quicker fashion.
