I don't think Iraq has any banned weapons.

Why did it take them sooo long to agree to let the inspectors in? One can only assume that during that time they were hiding their 'weapons of mass destruction'

'Weapons of Mass Distraction' more likely.

Look - if the US has evidence that Iraq has these weapons, then, sheesh, cough it up already! It'd be nice to actually deal with this issue and move on.

I think Iraq hid all the weapons(etc.) before the U.S. got there.
Of course they have all kinds of things they're not supposed to have, they are the jerks who started with the terrorism years ago. I think they should get Saddam&Bin Laden together and do to them a** holes what they did to our World Trade Center (TwinTowers), So many people suffered and died because of them,I say BOMB the sh** out of Iraq!!

Yeah, good idea. Kill thousants of innocent Iraqi civilians.
But if you do, you'll be no better then Saddam or Bin Laden.
Both of you then killed innocent people and called it the same: Justice.

Oh, you're a moron.

The notion that the US government is lying about WMD just to steal oil is far fetched, to me anyway. America gets away with a lot but I don't think they could get away with that even if they wanted to.

I am very torn by the Iraq problem. Saddam is a bad man. He is a mass murderer. He is a brutal, cruel dictator. He is a power monger. Iraqis, however, are just people, like you and me. I don't want them to suffer, not do I want us to suffer.

The mere possibility of Saddam having these catastrophic weapons is just terrifying. The thought of not making sure, even more so. But I'm afraid that the inspections are just a farce. How can the inspectors really be expected to find anything? I don't see it happening. And the so-called report, all 10,000+ pages, is just a joke. They may as well had written "No weapons of mass destruction" on a napkin and handed it in.

The North Korean ship loaded with missles in the middle east is not encouraging, either.

I miss the old days of CIA assasination.

I hope, with every fiber of my being, that there is not a war with Iraq. But who cares? What we want is not the same as what is necessary. I think the war will start soon. Maybe in January? This inspection crap is a ruse and nothing more.

This is the type of comment that makes Americans look stupid. Don't tell me you are really that simple minded.

and, of course, it's not important that the innocent people in Iraq are going tu suffer and die if the United States were to bomb them, right?

****.

Enough said! A lot of stuff was delt with without the majority public even knowing about it. The Media is to invovled, the public is to opinionated, and the government is to worried about gaining popularaity!

Bring back the old CIA!

I know what you mean. Takes a lot of intellect to say Eurotrash.

Yes, very importatant, which is why war must be carefully considered.

But, in turn, it's important that the Iraqi people have the hope that they will taste a greater level of freedom than what Saddam allows. While war is not the only or guaranteed means to that end, diplomacy is not a guarantee either. Diplomacy is favorable, but passive diplomacy borders on negligence. Whatever lack of justification and selfish, greedy intent may be in Bush's strategy, his putting the passive to the fire, was right. Of course, xx years plus whatever Uday or Qusay live for is a paradise for those peoplw. Fortunate that others will spend as much time condemning the US for not doing some action they probably would have opposed at the time by their very nature, while they work toward limited military reaction and lifting sanctions, so less Iraqis might starve to live with Saddam.

One can make all the arguments they want, sovereignty, Iraqi death, Arab retaliation, "Jewish" influence, it all comes down to a willingness, maybe even a necessity, to accept contained demons to avoid a behemoth. But what can you do?

Flat out, containment is morally dubious.

Exactly. And although I'm a little more radical that most US citizens ('national parks are for money only'), it won't be long until the rest of the country starts thinking like me - especially when Iraq is fully cooperating and handing over documents that are thousands of pages long about their weapons program.

Nah - they're not lying for oil. They want Saddam removed because as you say, he's a mass murderer, a brutal cruel dictator, etc. The problem is that not only does the USA not have the authority to determine who's 'brutal,' but that they are unable to find a solid link between Saddam and terrorism (Remember, we are fighting T.W.A.T., the war against terror) or even prove a link between Saddam and banned weapons!

The mere possibility of Saddam having these catastrophic weapons is just terrifying. The thought of not making sure, even more so. But I'm afraid that the inspections are just a farce. This is where I'm split. Before I comment, I want hard evidence proving that Iraq/Saddam is currently harboring banned weapons.

The North Korean ship loaded with missles in the middle east is not encouraging, either.

Why? SCUD missles aren't banned for either North Korea or Yemen where they were headed.

I miss the old days of CIA assasination.

I might very seriously consider a move back to my birthplace Guam if President Bush decides to attack Iraq even if he finds no banned weapons, simply [because] I could no longer directly live in a democracy run by an idiot. I think President Bush is a fairly smart person, but if the UN inspectors find nothing and Saddam cooperates entirely (or even if they DO find something and Saddam destroys it), Bush has no reason to fight. He probably will, anyway. And that's stupid. Also, that's Bush.

Now Bush is threatening Nuclear Assault as retaliation for the use of any biological or chemical weapons by Saddam. Overwhelming force he calls it .
