Hello guys, before I tell you anything I want you to know that I'm a huge Gran Turismo fan, I got them all from 1 to 6 and I'm very serious about sim racing and racing in real life, I played pretty much every sim and even made it to the GT Academy national finals a couple of times in my country, so please don't get offended by the words I'm saying here because I like Gran Turismo as much as everyone else in this forum but I had to share this with you.
Graphics : I don't know if it's because I've been playing a lot of PC sims lately, but when I started GT6 today I felt like I was back to Playstation 2, apart from the premium cars (and lets be honest the interior of the premiums looks unpleasant and dated) the game doesn't doesn't look good anymore, I don't see any improvement from GT5, neither the tracks or the cars, the standard cars look just as horrible as they did before and the side objects on the tracks shocked me, 2D persons and trees all over the place, it would be better if they just deleted them.
Sounds : This was the aspect I was most curious about GT6, as a car lover there's nothing better than hearing a good engine singing, and this was the biggest disappointing moment for me, as soon as they made me drive the Clio RS right when the game begun I realized that nothing, and I mean NOTHING as been made to improve the sounds, saying that the car sounded like a vaccun cleaner is an understatment, from the Honda Fit to the Shelby GT500 with a big thundering V8 the sounds are just completly horrible, don't get any hopes in this department, it just doesn't get any worse than Gran Turismo when we talk about car sounds. ("How is this possible?" I kept asking)
Cars : I feel like that they could have done so much more than they did, there are some new cars but not that many, they keep teleporting all the old cars from GT4 and IMHO this is a bad ideia, I never liked the standard cars and I never will, I would much rather prefer delete them as I don't drive them and they ruin the overall "nice" look of the game for me, during a race or even in the dealership where they all look completly ridiculous for a 2013 game, also now we have all premium cars from GT5 teleported to GT6 and they look exactly the same as they did before, good but not better. ("Really where is all the work done??!" I keep asking myself as I play)
Gameplay : This is where Gran Turismo was always very good, it teached me a lot of things about car control, I always defended it's physics even when people say "it is arcady", and I think it still is very good but not the best anymore, I can feel some small changes from the GT5 to the GT6 in the car behaviour, cornering feels more natural and you can feel the rubber a little bit better than before but still nothing big was really done.
Final words : I didn't really like that they forced me to buy the Honda Fit right in the beggining, I always like to choose my cars carefully and that annoyed me, but the menu is OK and the game is just much faster than GT5 that took years to do anything.
Overall GT6 was a massive disappointing for me, I didn't felt, saw or heared any improvement over GT5 and I'm really sad about this, I feel like the series itself is ending and I don't know how the future will be since very little was done to improve the last game even when there are thousands of fans screaming all around the world. I really don't understand what has been done in all these years since the GT5 was released, I wouldn't even go as far as call it GT5.5, because I feel like this game is a GT5 with a new menu and not much else.
Please don't get offended by what you read here, I'm just sharing what I feel because as a GT fan I couldn't keep it to myself. Thank you.
