I have an idea!

I have just had a great idea! On GT4, when you run out of fuel, you just fuel up again, simple. Well, how about, if you are low on fuel, you can go into a certain fuel station. Basiclly, you have different brands, some get you futher but decrease you top BHP, while others increase power, but will not get you as far. I have done an example below:

shell.gif

Miles: 43
BHP: 205hp
MPH: 160mph

largetexacologo.gif

Miles: 48
BHP: 200hp
MPH: 155mph

Of course, it would be different for different cars, just like in real life. They could also do the same for oil as well:

mobil_logo_new.gif

Miles: 51
BHP: 115hp
MPH: 110mph

castrol_180x144.gif

Miles: 56
BHP: 120hp
MPH: 115mph

This should help to make GT5 even more realistic!

Oh...wow...try less realistic.

Fuel doesn't have that huge of an affect on output, at least I don't think It does. and, when you do this, you get oil and fuel manufacturers arguing that "our fuel was mis-represented," or "Our oil is better than that." no, not gonna happen.

You say that like it's a bad thing!

No way that would ever happen, and besides, they have really important things to work on the game, if they don't want it to get bashed on every review.

I don't think (but then again...) that any game reviewer will criticize them for noth having THAT in the game... :)

Actually fuel do have an impact on hp, you basicly get more hp the higher the octane, and some fuels have impact aswell, such as methanol.

But you are right, this would never happen!

And then Texaco sues PD/Sony as their fuel in the game is not as good as Shell's.

Never happen.

I think they could get the player to buy different grades of fuel at different prices. For example there is unleaded and super unleaded for road cars, then two or three different grades for race/rally cars. No branding, just different grades.

THAT would be a good idea. I could see branding going so wrong...

As well, you could set the engine computer to optimize it for different types of fuel.

I agree, it's not the brand it's the mixture, you could be allowed to simply chose your mixture.

Or you could just buy the nitrous upgrade; or you could fit your car with a turbo or supercharger. The gas thing is just stupid!

Well if the game had mechanical damage then you wouldn't want to use racing fuel in a stock road car. Also, the higher the octane of the fuel the more powerful the explosions going on inside you car will be, the more powerful the explosions the more stress your engine is being put through, the more stress your engine has the faster it will break down. Also there is the matter of fuel efficiency, different fuels mixtures will burn faster meaning you won't go for as long before you need to refill. It's pretty complex what racing teams actually do to get the best fuel for their cars in terms of power and rate of burn.

The359, he didn't list Castrol as a petrol company, he said you could do the same for oil and then mentioned them.

Exactly right, your standard civic engine will not handle high octane racing fuel, when my dad was trying to improve his rally cars performance, he wanted to buy an engine upgrade that would allow him to run very powerful racing fuel for his car. The difference can be massive, you may be surprised.

It would be nice to get more out you standard car, by getting a fuel upgrade which allows, higher mixes of fuels, etc. perhaps even biofuel mixes, for an econemy cup race  then you could take on hybrid cars in you standard car.

I am expecting PD to include far more tuning variety, and race fuels would be a great venture.

Actually, I think it could be possible for one in-game fuel brand to perform differently from another brand without making any company angry. After all, Forza 2 has a nearly identical concept with its tire brand choices.

There's still one problem, though -- how can you "browse" gas stations when the only time you need to refuel is during a race, in the pit area?

^That opens up for sponsors! Get for example Shell as a sponsor, and that is the brand you´ll use. They provide you with an array of fuel types and mixtures, and there you go!

Did you even bother to read it. If you actually thought about reading it before you said anything, you would see I said OIL! Dont worry about it, everybody can make that mistake, I'm just saying!
Sorry, where exactly did you say oil?

Can you point me to the direction, please?

Probably all of you for pointing out that it was hard to spot, the fact is that it's in there and it's no ones fault but your own if you didn't read it.
