I have the disc, but does that give me rights to a soft copy?

So when my ps3's optical drive died I tried to download GT6, but found no way to get it without paying the $25. Afraid this may happen again for my PS4 setup, am I allowed to download a copy of the game for backup? Would PS Plus take care of this for me...

I'm afraid you can't, physical and digital versions of PS4 games are treated as separate purchases.

A free digital game download with every game disc purchase would not be a smart move for developers or publishers. It would allow you to keep the full game on your hard drive (digital download) and sell the physical disc for money... more or less getting the game for free. In the unlikely event that your PS4 fails, get it fixed or replaced.
