This is a PNG file. I've saved it, and exported it as a jpg. Here is the image:

Yeah they would. I think PNG's can also do transparencies like GIF's can, with JPG quality.
 
And they can support multiple layers and are generally a lot larger in size file size.
 
Thanks for the replies, i just wanted to know to see if i can use images i post on a forum for a banner on another site, even if the people aren't members of the forums i post the images on. :)

Yeah, PNG's support transparency is also in uncompressed file format. So, you get perfect quality image but the filesize is usually astronomical.
 
I like quality. I'd take an extra second to download high quality pictures. They're so much more pleasing than regular TV signals. Ouch, my tv hurts my eyes, but hey, I can't pay for a new one yet because I don't have a job
