I now understand what you all meant...

I think that's partly true, afterall your DR will not increase if your SR is low, which is probably why everyone starts at DR-E and SR-B. However, what improves the DR seems to be how fast (based on your lap time, how you overtake and consistency IMO) your are overall compare to the people you raced against and not necessarily whether you finished in a better position or not (though I'm positive that over time, it is counted as well) Just an example, while racing at Nurb GP yesterday, I started P2 made a mistake spun out and dropped down to P12 on the first lap, by then end of said lap I got hit and lost 2 more positions. Worked my way up and finished P6. When I looked at the progress bar for the DR, it actually went up while I expected it was going to decrease since I finished so low compare to where I started. I'm currently at DR A and SR S. Nowhere near as fast as the aliens but with lack of time to practice (because...well...life) I've mainly been racing on tracks that I know fairly well and enjoy (Nurb GP is one of them)
I do wonder about how your lap time actually effects your DR though. I've got a higher DR than some of my much faster friends

Maybe because other peoples experiences vary?
yeah.... for sure.

It will be awhile before PD sort out the BOP, I'm thinking several months. I can't imagine it being very easy to balance all those cars within gr3 and especially gr4. I'm sure whenever they update the BOP again, there will be another one or two go-to cars that everyone will use.

TBF all they should just do on the next update is tone down the power of the Megane, Scirocco and TT Cup (the RCZ is an underpowered FF) in Gr4 and then most of the cars would be almost evenly balanced like it was for the first 2 weeks of release. In Gr3, it's really a toss up, not sure why the 911 RSR is all of the sudden popular.

IMO FWD cars need more weight put on them, they are very light atm.

for example: The Viper has 39 more HP than the TT Cup, but it's also 822 lbs heavier. That difference in hp does not make up for the weight.

Yeah that's what I mean, tho... I wasn't overly clear about it haha

Haha, figured mine wasn't clear enough either. Well, to be honest, I don't really know but what I suspect is when looking at those lap times within the race, are you consistently improving your pace or does it plateau (+or- a few tenths within a certain range) or does it drop every lap? The system just analyzed that against the other racers and then you get a rating and based on that rating, you progress bar increase or decrease. Those are just my own speculation cause I really want to know how it works as I have no idea how I have an A ranking seeing how I've raced over 170 races and only have about 6 or 7 wins to my name :P

Handling on that car is just sublime.

Grp3 is actually reasonably well balanced. The Beetle seems to be a bit pase now, and you can go fast in the RCZ and Vette as well as the RSR. Some of the others just need another 1% more power or 1% less weight to balance it up a bit more.

Grp4 is FUBAR though, and the FWD stuff needs a massive BOP cut.

for me the 911 feels like a Fidget spinner, it'll just turn on its own sometimes like the Huracan did before.

so after a short break from online mode I returned to it again last night.

I started as DR C and SR S. The first gr3 race ended with me being shunted, rammed, blocked and eventually wound up in 17th after starting last with no qualifying time set. I had a few negative SR penalties during the race but mostly good and yet the game decided to demote me to DR D.....?

How does it calculate this.....? Seems slightly unfair.

So I resumed in DR D where initially I used the Bugatti in the gr4 race and was surrounded by Meganes and sciroccos, and got blown away on each straight ... qualifying 4th finished 10th

So then I bought the scirocco, to see what was going on, qualified pole, came 2nd after being forced off the track at the tight hill section but blew the field away after that...

Has it really gone back to car over skill for each track?
Well a Bettle couldn't get past my RSR for 4 laps on Yamagiwa. So it depends bro.

Depends on your skill level. A lesser driver in a Beetle isn't going to necessarily pass a better driver in a car with slower potential. But then that's true for every car. The Beetle dominates the class because it's the fastest overall car for the most drivers.

If you turn on tyre wear and take off assists the beetle is far from good. If you whack countersteer on and TC on 4 you can chuck it into any bend and drift out without losing it, it’s why beginners use it.

With regards to the RSR, I used to love it but a few times now it’s felt like an Austin elegro against other cars

Well a top ten guy intentionally punted me off two races in a row earlier, just shows there are bad drivers everywhere. He probably saw it as revenge for a slight accidental nudge I gave him when I had to go for a move, ironically to stop me from hitting him clean in the back because even though I broke way early the car was not stopping, I had grip issues the entire race for some reason, I get an odd race like this, it's strange. The next race he was very aggressive with me and I knew he was looking to hit me again and again there was contact that we were both at fault for before he then punted me clean off again without even braking, ruining his own race too, just as he did in the first occasion. 🤬

Also in another race I was hit in the back in the first corner so went straight across the green runoff area at Interlagos and as I suspected, as I've seen others do it, I got no penalty and actually set the fastest lap of the race with that lap.:guilty:

Before the last update, SR got both parties, now can SOMETIMES get the major offender, DR depended on two things
Fin Clean (or) Bumped
Front +DR +DR -DR
Mid 0 DR +DR -DR
Back -DR +DR -DR

DR seems to be much the same now. I did get a little DR add for moving 7th to 6th (of 12) and getting the clean bonus.
Some races have been total wreck fest. Until I know tuning gets removed, I try and stick to 1 make races. I don't know what I could tune,
and would just untune to race in the lobbies. If <your> just faster, show me how to improve.

Being fast dosnt make you a good driver. People seem to think that because they are faster at some point they should be handed the position... if only there where actual repercussions

No idea. This always seems to happen to me too.

Had a race at Interlagos a few days ago - started from pole, led the first lap. Got punted off at T1 on L2, dropped to eighth. My SR went down.

I recovered back to P6 cleanly, hunting down P5 on the final lap. On the straight in Sector 1, he started weaving when I got a run on him, then slammed the brakes on halfway down the straight. Unsurprisingly, I hit him, he hit a wall, and I pick up a 10 sec penalty and my SR drops. It went from a B down to a D in that race, and the only two pieces of contact were other people acting like idiots, one punting me in a braking zone and the other brake testing me on a straight.

I've also noticed a lot of people in that same sector in Brazil now side-swiping cars into the wall on the right hand side. There's a lot of idiots doing their best to ruin this, playing it like GTA.

There are time penalties for wall collisions, shortcuts, and aparantly getting shoved off the track by a real Number-Zero. If your going into a lobby, always check the penalties section (race settings). For daily SPORT races, I've never thought to look.

It looks good and whilst it can be a bit twitchy now and again it normally gives you a lot of notice about what it is going to do. Unlike my Ferrari which tells you that it is about to lose traction when you are already going backwards across gravel!

I suppose it shouldn't but you realize the penalty system is an algorithm and not a panel of human judges.

Yeah I'm NOT stupid, and I know i probably got the penalty because the other one went off track too, but the algorithm should be able to determine WHO ****S up. And what I think is worse is that he only got a sr penalty.

I'm sure it's hell... at that rating the ability of people to control their cars is limited... so contact is inevitable to some extent.

My suggestion (as always) would be to expect the worst from people, and try not to put yourself in a place where you invite the contact.

Mainly agreed - but when I look at some of the videos on here asking who was at fault for an incident, I still think people could do a lot more to help themselves and reduce their 'suffering'.

I'm sure >99% don't set out with the intent to cause carnage... but everyone like to think they are Senna, whether they have the skills or not (sure I saw a chart on this somewhere...), and insist on taking the 'racing is rubbing', or 'you're not a race driver if you don't go for a gap' approach.

Well I know I'm not the best driver out there, but more than capable, keeping my crashes and off track driving to a minimum, but we can all have accidents... And I know contact = sr pens, and I don't mind that, what I DO mind is that very often I get blown off track, or someone tries to nudge me and they end up spinning around, and then the 10 sec pen kicks in... FOR me, not them, I really don't understand that :-)
