Didn't like it :( It felt too soft for my liking, I was using 4 bobbins (2 either side). I'll have to have a rethink. It may be down to the profiles I'm using but as I want to re-do/get new framework, things will change anyway.

I noticed while doing previous research that "Profisim" using the SimXperience models attach the harness to the seat base frame with nice chrome mounts.
Not sure if it would make any difference but suppose keeps the straps moving with the seat rather than how you have it fixed to the back of the frame.

See in this video 0:18 how the guy in the white t-shirt's upper body is flung about more (no harness)
I would also expect using a harness pulling a body in tight to the seat would enhance any tactile sensation in the back of the seat too.

Springs may be a personal preference but good thick trampoline springs I read are a good solution. Perhaps if a spring is too weak it might feel odd but heh just some thoughts guys. I guess it takes trying a few options to find the one most suitable to each user.

Hmm, not sure why you'd want the harness moving with the seat. That sort of setup would pretty much make the harness redundant.

I assume it's more a case of keeping them strapped in which in turn gives more 'simulated g's ' cos you move with the seat.
What you're doing is adding the feeling of the harness tightening which along with motion and tactile adds more to the immersion factor.
Personally I think the profiles in those vids are too aggressive, I certainly dont use anything that harsh. Those sort of videos show why many sim fans think motion is more of a gimmick IMO.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from :) Coupled with those over-the-top motion profiles, I guess the user might get something from it. You need a harness just to stay in the seat from the looks of that vid!

Yeah I just wanted to post as an alternative and think indeed as Steve said doing so on the seat platform would avoid the extra tension under braking etc. Maybe some prefer one thing to the other.

Agree the motion in the vids is excessive maybe wearing velcro padded trousers would be handy, lol.
So looking forward to see what "Simvibe" will bring to the table.

Some of you may already be aware that the InsideSimRacing forum holds a 'Sim Rig of the Week' competition. Well, I was fortunate enough to be told of this by our very own Left888 and also fortunate enough to be in the final five.

There is a poll here that I'd like you to take a look at and possibly cast your vote? I'm only a couple of votes behind the leader and would appreciate you guys taking a few minutes and giving mine and the other entries a look. :)

When is it over because I want to enter but can't till the 30th LOL

I assume that as the poll is up, this weeks entries have been decided so you'll be free to enter the next one (or the one after that) after the 30th.

Why can't you enter? CSW embargo? ;)

Yeah CSW embargo and to be frank the only competition I have there is you. LOL

I kid I kid, but that GT cockpit is sweet.

I've not been on the site before but have now registered
Good luck mate 👍

Your rig is better than the tyrell rig. To be honest his projector setup is nice but not even close to being great. I admire his dedication to his build, its like a work of art for sure, but there are things about it I don't like. I feel yours is more well rounded by far.

I'm kinda pissed I spent all that time upgrading and didn't get to enter. I put it up for SROTW next month I guess.

Well done on the ISR "SROTW" well deserved to be on the show.
Had to smirk a little at the bit Darin goes on about your audio/tactile and eq.:sly:

The tyrell is a work of craftmanship but the projector all over the hands is just plain wrong imo. He'd be better with a short throw projector in front of his wheel or consider rear projection.

Hey Simon, you got my vote but it looks like Tyrell got a few more votes. I must say Simon I really liked your attitude and the owner of the Tyrell, both of you guys had amazing entries. If I could say the Tyrell was a tad gimmicky and I don't mean that in a bad way. He obviously put a lot of thought and executed very well.

Your rig is what a Sim rigs should be, the pinnacle of Rigs, not only was your rig well thought out and executed but it oozed with style and class. Your tactile system, your visual (monitors) shifters and button boxes, everything designed well. IMHO your rig was the best one entered not only in this contest but in the history of ISR, kudos Sir. :gtpflag:

Hey Darren, thanks for everything really; tipping me off about the contest (I didn't even know it existed!), your vote and the great comments 👍

Some tough competition going up against Remco's Tyrell cockpit but that's the way it goes. :) I think I'm around ten votes behind at the moment and I can't see that changing much. Whilst it would be nice to win, as I said on the ISR forum, it's hardly 'life or death'

Who knows, I may enter again in a few months. Got some changes planned for the rig so I'll get those completed first and see how I'm fixed. Thanks again mate :)

Okay, update time. I've been a bit quiet lately and very busy and here's a little taste of why...

Check out the CAD screenshots for a teaser of some the upcoming modifications to my racing simulator. Some big changes happening: moving to 32” 1080p displays, changing from 5.1 to 7.1 surround complete with a new amp/decoder and various little control tweaks that I’ll reveal in a few weeks...

The screenshots show how it’s all going to look (more or less anyway) and you can get a good idea of how it all fits together. Construction drawings will be going to the fabricator this week to get the steelwork kicked-off. A major update to my website (and this thread) will follow in a few weeks time. :)

why did you draw the CSR-E pedals? I thought you ordered the CSP V2, didn't you?

Pics look awsome, but isn't it better, to mount all the speakers and the small monitor under the monitors? I think the sound will than be more direct to you, and you will probably be able to see the monitor better...

Cheers! :)

The CSR-E pedals weren't modeled by me; I couldn't find any Clubsports in the Sketchup database unfortunately. When I get the chance, I'll model a set. And you're right, I have ordered CSP V2's 👍

The speakers don't obstruct the view to the monitors although it may look like it from the angle of the screenshots. The position of the speakers should ensure a nice 'immersion-factor' as well. :)

I think he meant your iSpeed display. I would think it would be better to have it hanging from the bottom of the right display rather than way up above.

Either way, I don't think it's obstructed. "Way up above"? These are 32" displays, not 60". It's a case of simply shifting my line-of-sight up slightly to see the iSpeed display. If I mount it bottom right, I'll have to turn my head and look which means taking my eyes off the track completely. :)

My eye level is pretty much inline with the top of the seat (which isn't made clear in the model).

From a style/looks perspective personally think this new addition spoils the clean looks to a degree with all the extra clutter, though maybe others love it.

It is quite a close proximity for 7 channel surround as well, curious why youv'e decided to change your current audio/speaker layout and will you be using a subwoofer as none are shown in those excellent drawings?

No doubts your considering Simvibe for tactile in the future?
