Sure it would be nice to be super rich, but I don't think it's necessary. For me and my future career path, being super rich would merely be a practical advantage. My career is music, and with the best paid musicians in the world (outside of the Metropolitan Opera), LA studio musicians, still not guaranteed a study paycheck since they're paid on a per-gig basis, it would be very nice to have the peace of mind that if I don't get gigs, I'd still be ok financially.
Being super rich would also give me the ability to buy all of my dream musical instruments, of which there are many (to have an idea of just how many, check out
this post of mine on the Trombone Forum...and that's not even all of them). As is, being a college student, I usually have to either save up for years or find an incredibly awesome deal to get even one horn.
My super-rich life would require nothing more than a nice penthouse suite in a very favorable location within LA (or wherever my musical travels take me), a car to carry my horns around in (already have that), a dirt cheap reliable sports car for fun, the best gaming PC money can buy (updated as technology progresses because, well, I'm super rich), the best HDTV money can buy (see above), all the latest consoles, maybe a racing cockpit, furnishings, and food/water/electric/Internet/phone/TV/etc. costs. I'd still have plenty of money left over to invest and live off of, so at that point I could take gigs just for fun, and any pay would just be a bonus that I could spend on things I wanted.
Now if I was super ultra mega ridiculous rich, then I would build my own country in the Pacific Ocean...but even that is unrealistic for what most of us consider to be "super rich".
