I have 59 gold trophies for the license tests, and I just can't seem to get the last one out of the way. IA-1, Circuit de la Sarthe, Indianapolis Section. Gold time is 38.200. My best finish was 38.244. I have been at this challenge for nearly 5 hours now over 3 days. I have tried everything I can think of to change strategy and settings, and I'm about to just give up! Does any one have any tips for the test?

I'm using a DS3, and have all aids off except ABS at 1.

I feel like if I do manage a Gold time, it'll just be luck that earned it for me... honestly I think I could have tried this test blindfolded for 5 hours and accidently golded it by now! I'm out of ideas.

By the way, searching "IA-1" or just "IA" yields no results for me, even though I have seen the phrase in a few posts. Thanks for the help.

I struggled here too. First suggestion...walk away and come back to it later. Second suggestion, left side tires in the dirt before the last right hand turn.

If you're within a tenth you'll get it sooner or later, just need a perfect run. I always hated the ones where you get that close, so frustrating.

Both of those IA LM tests were a bit tricky for me. It's tough to want to, but make sure you slow down a little extra for the fast right that starts it, you want to be in complete control around that corner so that you can brake straight and hard for the next one. Exit speed from the left(which is I believe the actual Indianapolis) and entry speed into Arnage were the main keys for me. The posts sticking up to the left of the track seemed a good brake mark for Arnage for me.

Just have the fast slalom and turn 2-3 on Tokyo Rt 246 to go on mine.

That one was a bugger for me too. Take the right side as close to the fence as you can where it sticks out a bit. Also in the apex you can hit the green cones but not the orange.

It just takes a perfect run. Like that ridiculous cone slalom--that was my last gold license.

This search engine does seem to have problems finding things.

Read my signature, I'm within 1/100th of a second too after many attempts. Maybe I'll go back someday and try again, be sure and let us know when you get it!

Focus on taking that 2nd corner (the one that goed 90° left) perfectly.
Brake early, then try to take the curbstone with the middle of the car.
I dont know if you use bumpercam (I do) but you should have the curb smack in the middle of the screen. Put on throttle early.
That corner can cut a huge chunck out of your time :)

Once you managed to get that corner right, you can loose some time in the last 90° to the right.

LOL - it's unfortunate we're both struggling on the same dumb test, but it is reassuring to see I'm not the only one who is frustrated by it. I don't understand why PD programs these things so close to edge of impossibility. Then again, it looks like there is plenty of evidence that proves it can be golded. Thanks sharing my pain!

And thanks to GTPlanet for the support. I think I'll have another go at this and see if I can hang half the car out in the dirt to save time.

It is very odd, some of them require near-absolute perfection to get gold, and others you can be way off and clear it by nearly a second. Some of them even more. I do think they intentionally made the rally tests a bit on the easy side though, as it's a small part of the game and quite different from 'normal' racing.

Most of them aren't too bad though. Hell, I was quite well under the influence for most of my golds, so I couldn't have been driving at my best!

Thanks for the confidence!

The fast slalom was my other nemesis, too. Finally beat that one out of the blue by almost 0.100 seconds after struggling to get even anywhere near the Gold time after hundreds of tries at it. Trick I figured with that one was to try and hold off on the speed -ever so slightly- until you're mid way through the course, then you can really pour it on and fly out of the last turn with more momentum. It's hard to describe, but it was the key to me beating that one.

Well, I just went back and tried this test again. On the 18th attempt... 38.115!!!!!! Beat the time by 0.085 sec! Earned my 60th gold to finish out the license tests, and a Ford GT '05 (No Stripe) Ticket. Thanks for the great advice everyone!
