the scary thing is, all we need to do is give ASIMO guns, and have it malfunction and start blowing things up, and we would have a terminator.. :nervous:

So...wow. They are already developing Linux kits for the Cell. This has been a concern for a while now--Sony has been debating whether or not to include or have an available version of Linux for the PS3. Now that there are dev kits out there, it looks like it may actually come to fruitation.

The reflection is actually the cell chip rendering. Am I wrong?

wow thats a cool vid, maybe we will be able to utalise this using eye toy v2 :) would be well cool.

I,m glad TV's will get Cell chips.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

But I think Sony will only put them on their own TVs. I don't mind it at all since most of the electronic stuff in my house is SONY. :embarrassed: Daddy always seems to buy SONY branded stuff.

Toshiba TVs will obviously get them as well. Probably first.

You're absolutely correct. I've seen the Toshiba sets with Cell inside in action. It's fantastic. I have two active pictures, not like PIP, with my TV set, and the Toshiba I saw had six. All independent from each other, with bright, sharp, clear picture quality for each picture. It's the TV set of my dreams.

Toshiba TVs have them right now? :odd: Do they have them with HDTV? :odd: I am really going to want one when the PS3 releases so I can have Cell chips working together! :embarrassed:

The Cell's gonna take over the world. And some of our pocket books, too. :nervous:

I can't help but to notice though that six pictures is just shy of the number of subprocessors (or whatever they're called) that the Cell has. Does each one process one picture for each that you had seen in that TV? Seems like a safe assumption I think, but I think a solid answer would be an intereisting tid bit of information.

I don't have the exact details, because they didn't say much about it. All I saw was the video of the Toshiba Cell HDTV set in action. I tried to find the link, but couldn't find it. It was about month ago, so maybe I can still find it for you.

Yep, but they aren't available to the US until 2006. The Toshiba I saw in action, again, was in an iternet video. The picture was HDTV, because that is now the standard. You wont see many of the older style sets being made anymore. At least not on TV sets past 27 inches.

Considering it only takes a handful of cell processors to make the official supercomputer list, and about a handful of handfuls to top that list, I'd say the Cell is well on its way and more than capable for its application. Remember, this is just the first apple off the new family tree.

I wouldn't doubt being able to scroll through as many mini-windows of real-time television broadcast as can fit on your screen when selecting a channel.

I want to see how the cell motherboards are set up. Those should be interesting as well.

2006 sounds like a good date to have them around since the PS3 will be out by that time too! :embarrassed:

During the E3 show, they said the Cell could display up to twelve HD sources at one time. The most powerful computers today have trouble doing just one, let alone more. The Cell could also display over one thousand video sources at one time. From online, video game, tv, DVD, vcr etc. all simultaneously. Wow.

well if the rumores are true, then the cell has been seen outputting 42 HD steams at the same time im sure that the whole power of the Cell in a tv has been cut back quite alot, but the thing is so small i would love to see it put into a palm top of Mobile phone.

5 megapixel cammera
1gb on board memory
HD OLCD
cell
32gb CF card

all possible by todays technology, and they could easily fit it into a mobile phone, just that it would cost about $2000 :D

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Since Sony is going to mass the Cell processor, wouldn't that make it cheaper? :odd:

I would love to buy a new Sony Vaio that will be equipped with the Cell processor! :embarrassed:

well i think it's great that technology being used in a top-end games console is slao goin to be used in equipment which can help save lives :):tup

No, it would be a bit of overkill to put a Cell in a cell phone, I think. But, if they did, the price would go up $30 only, because that's how much the Cell chip costs.

Cell has no use in a cell phone. It'd be like getting a million man army to drive Aunt Betsy to the doctor's office.

Well, South-East LA can be dangerous... I'm sure Aunt B would love the company of all those soldiers...

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I think Cell could be used in cell phones, but only for a fun purpose. You can maybe talk with twenty people at the same time... Like an AIM chat room! :embarrassed:
