Tomorrow the GTR gets delivered to the Tuner 👍

If in the Dutch papers the mods are written in the papers, I don't even need Tüv...
Checking that now. If it's the case, I can go fetch it next week. Need to wait for special license plates that I need to reserve, to do the way home... closing in... :D

The S3, need to wait on the headliner, when that's in the car, I can send in the steering wheel. Hopefully next week

EDIT: As it look like now, the dutch papers are kept real simple. So I need a single Title homologation from the Tüv. I was in talks with JDM garages in Germany. They don't like my Xenons.... But now I found a Tüv subsidiary here in Luxemburg, gonna phone there on Monday. See whats possible. I talked with our homologation on the phone, and as long as it is factory done, it should be good....
At this rate, the GTR could be done before the S3. Didn't see that coming.
The GTR now gets a checkup, it's good, but just in case. The HICAS (4 wheel steerings) gets deleted. I rather loose that feature, then loose the rear because of a malfunction. Then it's ready.

They won't let you keep the 4 wheel steering?

*rewatches R33 video* I want one so bad haha

 :D:tup:

I could keep the Hicas, it's very fixable, but the Hicas is prone to failing or to do some sketchy business.
I want the car to be predicatable and not that it starts to wobble and upset the rear under full load or high speeds...

Some of the horror stories I read come down to users faults when the Hicas made a funny, but I rather not find out on the Autobahn at 200+ what it is like when the rear steps out, out of nowhere

Delivered to the tuner

Again not a GTR fanboy but I didn't even know GT-Rs had 4 wheel steering. They seemed way ahead of their time.

They were really ahead in a lot of ways... Alone the little Computer in the R34 was miles away from the competition.

Oh the homologation is homo....
I got told now that the Xenons could infact pass here, so I could drive them legally... How much is factual truth ...??? Everything else would be really a huge disappointement, if I need to change for halogenes to drive it legally....
But I read a bit of our roadwork legalcode. And seems it should pass. It's not as restrictive as the german's.

But legally I can only drive the huge front plate....

I was sure I could use the US Style, the double row ones, but seems in the front they are not accepted....

I might have a loop hole, but I will need to make a buddy at the homologation service first  Old licence plate. But I don't think they are handed out anymore. Really would need someone to make me a favor on this one....

Monday will be phone day

Thanks for that R33 video, made my work day a bit more enjoyable :D

In lovely California the car has to be at least 38 years old to be exempt from the EPA(emissions)

So basically the 400R is a collector's item.
25 Years is the limit. R32's are already imported and sold in California.

For imports that's true but from what I read only in California it has that EPA regulation. I guess its false.

So very small update, with a huge positive point. Luxemburg got a subsidiary of the German Tüv. Since when no idea, but this makes custom tune ups real easy to get them legally on the road.

The S3 :

Steering wheel was sent in yesterday. Should be back in 2 weeks tops.
The S3 will get 5mm spacers in the front, 35mm  in the back. As it's quite huge and they only have a certification for the original wheels, I need to make a single title homologation for the wheels :banghead:
But already sorted it out with the Tüv. No problem :sly::p

The GTR, same.
I only need to get Tüv papers for the not original parts. If Nismo parts are considered original or not, I have no clue. I guess I will see how it goes, probably depends on the mood of the tester. But everything on the car should pass with ease. Xenons included, which don't pass in Germany . I might need to lie on the rear spoiler blade, saying it's warped in carbon and not tell it's full carbon
And tomorrow I know more how the inspection on the GTR went

End of the week it's basicly done. Still going to fit some spacers in the rear, and send the steering wheel in for rewarp....

Sooon
Wheels look perfect on there! especially with that satin finish. Sure is coming along nicely. Really love that pic.

That lip looks awesome! Might have to show that to my boss and see if he'll get one for his S3 track car. :sly:

Thanks 👍 Can't wait to get to the end now.... and then take a gargantum amount of pics

Yeah S3 looks damn good.. Shame you pussied/cheapened out on rear wheel width though :D:p

Thanks. Well quattros don't like different sizes on front and rear axles. It's so delicate that even a big amount of thread difference can damage the 4*4

Thanks. Yeah love the lip. And very cheap too. I think the lip (seat cupra) is about 20 quids

The S3 is done, just waiting for the steering wheel now to return and the spacers to arrive.
Then I need to rebuilt the rest of the interior, nav system, audio, and give it a good polish

After 7 years of misery, it finally is again in a worthy state. Love it

I would like to give a big thank you to @CAMAROBOY69 for helping me out in the paint departement 👍 and everybody for liking and commenting and so keeping me highly motivated. 👍👍

 looking amazing. All that work definitely paid off. Your garage will be looking pretty awesome in a few weeks I imagine.

Stunning!! Looks way better than cars that come from the factory. You are welcome for the paint/polish advice. I applaud your listening skills along with the insane amount of patience and motivation involved to create such a rare masterpiece. I look forward to seeing MANY more pics.

That has got to be one of the mothers of all dedication, time, and effort in a car form.

Very, very impressed with the finished product.

Looks amazing! Just goes to show how dedication and hard work really pays off. Great job. 👍

Thanks

S3 looks great! Is it me though, or do the tail lights make it look a bit dated?

It's a 2002 car, it's dated  That actually makes it fun, still lot of mechanical feel as opposed to modern vehicule. Clutch and steering are very firm on that car compared to modern ones. Love it
