Yea ! Go The Black Caps.....New Zealand definitely know how to make a game exciting !
On to the finals for the first time ever...Hopefully we make the final less exciting and walk all over whoever we play
Here we go. It's the final tonight. On one side is Australia who is ranked first in the ICC ODI rankings. They have 6 finals appearances and 4 wins. This World Cup they have won 6 matches, abandoned one due to (IIRC) rain, and lost one match. The match they lost was to the team they are up against tonight: New Zealand. New Zealand are currently the 5th rated ODI team in the world and make their first ever appearance in the World Cup final. This World Cup they have a prefect record, including a 1 wicket win over their trans-Tasman rivals. However, this is the first match that they will be playing outside of New Zealand. Melbourne Cricket Ground is a larger stadium then any of the places where NZ have played so far. New Zealand doesn't have a very good record at MCG, having won only 4 of the 19 ODIs between the 2 sides there. However, the last time they met, in February 2009 resulted in a 6 wicket win for the Blackcaps. The record between the 2 rivals is heavily tilted in favour of Australia, with them having won 85 of the 125 matches between them.
I can't insert the ICC video in here, but if you want to watch the highlights from the last time these two countries met at the World Cup: Click here
