I expect none of those classes. I would prefer them, but I expect they will have weight, power, and tire restrictions.

http://www.nhra.com/competition/amendmends.aspx Does anyone expect GT to implement these sort of rules? Im not saying they wont, but it seems sort of far fetched to me. (that is a list of amendments, not all the rules)

If Drag racing is included in GT 5 I would expect you to be able to tune and drag with any car in the game.
Of course. 👍

I expect none of those classes.
Me neither, but one can always dream.

I don't think they'll include drag racing at all to be honest.

Maybe if everyone who wants drag racing in GT5 writes an e-mail to PD, they'll see if it's worth it or not and perhaps later release a drag racing pack at PSN.

I would like to see them all,but I very, very highly doubt it.If anything,I think that we will see classes like Stock,Super Stock,Super Comp.,....basically sportsman ranks.I can't see PD going all the way with the Professional ranks.

I don't expect anything, but yeah, Stock, Super Stock and the .90 index classes would made me go #%&/=$£@&!

If they only included one of those classes I would still go nuts. In fact, if they only included the Infineon Raceway drag strip with a fully functional tree I would still go nuts!

I can't picture the last options in GT, so I voted for the first six. 👍

I hope it is indeed included. This is one of the very few topics I'm excited about. :nervous:

PD and Yamauchi need to see this, how people feel about drag racing in GT. 👍

EDIT: There is no way of sending e-mails to either KY or PD right? Too bad...

Well you won't see any Nitro/Alcohol cars on GT5, so that takes those four classes out.

But I voted for everything else, the more drag classes the better in my opinion. 👍

Ok, only since Stock (which by the way is my favorite class) is currently the most popular choice in the poll, let me show you what in my eyes are two of the most gorgeous race cars in NHRA.

Now that's a nice ride indeed! What engine is it? 383? 440? Automatic or stick shift?

Yeah, I'd be happy if they only gave us a drag strip and head to head action as well, but it would be cool if they at least let us put on some drag slicks, and wheels from brands like Weld Racing and Centerline etc.

If a drag racing mode is included. I just want them to keep it simple. Have a fully functional christmas tree with all time points of a real 1/4 mile track. Everything else? Leave it up to the players to use it however they want to. Honestly. If there is a drag mode, which I hope there will be, I will use it just to race people for fun and try to better my times with tuning and adjustments to suspension/tire pressure and stuff like that. Won't really care too much about winning. It'll be fun!

Yeah, I'd be happy with that as well, anything else is just a big bonus.

They need get rid of the crappy Las Vegas strip from GT4 though, and give us a proper one. I keep pulling for Infineon drag strip. Partly because Infineon Raceway was in GT4 so it's likely it'll be in GT5 as well, and also because it's a NHRA drag strip and part of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

They also need to remake the christmas tree. In GT4 there were 5 amber lights whith a 1 second interval "march down", while it should be 3 amber lights with a 0.5 second interval march down. You should also be able to leave early and get disqualified.

I think the time index thing is the stupidest thing in the world... you just build a car to do that time and everyone just tries not to go over it... stupid.

I like Pro stock and Funny cars... build to regulations and go as fast as you can.

Ok, that's your opinion.

I don't see what's stupid about it though. It's all about taste and how fast you want to go, and it makes up for some very close racing.

But you're saying all index classes should be merged into Comp? Wow, then we would see handicap starts of up to 8 or 9 seconds!

Its stupid because, how can something which is all based around final time, have limits of this final time... Its like saying you have to do a lap of a track in over 1:50 on some track, so stupid... no other form of racing even considers this. Totally ridiculous, limit engine power and weight and so on and thats it.

How can you limit the time?? ridiculous...

👍👍

I also feel the same way, but i voted for Super Street (10.90 second index),
Super Gas (9.90 seond index), and Super Comp (8.90 second index).

Hopefully if we do get drag, we can do burnouts to heat up the wheels, manual stage, and more drag type upgrades like Nitrous Oxide or even bigger turbos or superchargers (with also better tuning).

You're confusing me. What do you mean with "all based around final time"?

5 out of 12 classes in NHRA are index based, which obviously means drag racing is more than just getting as fast elapsed times as possible. Drag racing is all about fast reaction times and getting to the finish line first. No matter what class you're in, it's not the one with the fastest time who wins, but the one who gets to the finish line.

I've seen pro class races won by the one with the slower elapsed time.

Here is an example. At 1:50, check out the Pro Stock race between Alderman and Yates.

Jim Yates's 7.16 beat Darrel Alderman's 7.05. Speaks for itself. :)

By time i mean its the lowest time that wins.

I dont know what happened there between Yates and Alderman but it was something to do with the staging...

The limit time thing is stupid because someone could build a car to go faster within the regulations and then have to go slower to enter the time limit..

If they include drag racing, it should be simple, fastest time wins PERIOD
Then yeah limit people with drivetrain type, power, weight, displacement, but Not time...

Lol, I don't know on which planet you win drag races on fastest ET, but it's certainly not Earth. I'm gonna tell you this again. No matter what drag racing class you're in, you have to be first across the finish line in order to win.

I can agree with you that it should be simple. But first across the finish line is the winner, simple as that. The only time ET matters in drag racing is if you want a record. If you're racing an opponent the elapsed time itself doesn't mean anything. But of course, you don't want to be half a second slower than the opponent, but you can still win if you have a lot better reaction time.

I dont know what happened there between Yates and Alderman but it was something to do with the staging...
Yates had a lot better reaction time than Alderman, that's why...
