I vetoed for SUPER STOCK

What are the rules for that? Will it be possilbe to have it in GT5? as well GT4?

It's a startling line tactic known as "deep staging"
I thought deep staging was when only the "Stage" lamps are lighten. In other words, you get past the "Pre Stage" and you're in "Stage" only.

As I see it, Yates doesn't deep stage, but he just stages very late, to fool Alderman (and Buster Couch for that matter ).

Fastest time as in lowest time to do a quarter mile including reaction time like in Top Fuel if i am not mistake...

You owe me a 10 second car!

I think you've mistaken reaction time with ET. Reaction time has nothing to do with how fast a time you run. You can sit at the tree for 10 seconds if you choose to and still run a 10 second 1/4 mile. Will you win the race? Most likely not unless the guy next to you is sitting there with you and has a slower car.

What Yates did is called a "whole shot" where he leaves the light first and reaches the finish line first but ends up running a slower ET than Alderman. It was a mind game Yates was playing by staging very late. A split second later and he would've lost the race. So, as you can see, just because you ran a lower ET doesn't neccessarily mean you won the race.

Super stock 👍
I've always thought that Stock Eliminator and/or Super Stock would go very well with the style of Gran Turismo, if drag racing is featured. Maybe because the cars have stock bodies and interiors, so there is not much modification PD has to do to give us some Stock Eliminator race cars. Let's say they include the '69 Camaro SS 396 for example. Then PD only has to let us change the gear ratios, put in a roll cage, throw on 10" drag slicks in the rear and voilà, you have got yourself a '69 Stock Eliminator Camaro! 👍

Thanks for explaining it better than me! That's exactly how it works. 👍

It's funny how later in that clip, at another event, Yates is doing the same thing again against Alderman.

I would rather there be more production cars that specialty cars. So I am not to excited about this.
You could vote for ET Bracket then, since you can (if I got this right) run any car you like in that class.

Until you actually do it,I don't think that it can truly be appreciated.:) Especially in real life......it's a rush.......it's addicting........it's nerve racking, sitting on the line waiting for the lights to begin their run down the tree, sweat pouring off your brow, wanting to hit that perfect light, holeshotting your adversary, hoping the car launches straight while not spinning the tires.....it all ads up.👍

I saw from one of the trailers that FM3 will have drag racing. Perhaps it's possible for PD to do so too? There have been words about it being in GT2 and GT4 right?

I'm not a fan of drag racing, but I admit that it might be interesting to see how it works with GT5's physics.

I bet most of your guys CARS arent this fast!
America at its Finest

For comparison... Japan and Germany (they have no chance)

Very well put! 👍

And GT3, so I think it's about time!

I've started to gain intrest in the Super Gas class lately. I simply think the roadsters are cool, and I love index racing.

None of the above... I'd prefer more of a "Street Legal" style racing so you can use any car in the game.

E.T. bracket, the only drawback, you have to learn the handicap system.

Run what ya' brung,no restrictions, all cars welcome.

Im sorry i disagree with your poll because there is no class for sport compact.

 You do realise that the SC guys actually do race in Comp aswell as their SC meetings. PAC does this quite regularly in Group 2 Eliminator here in Australia.

I just want to see drag racing done RIGHT, and I know PD will do it right, but to what extent.

FM3 has drag racing but it's too simple. There isn't much competition among the AWD and FWD classes but I like how it has the events within the actual career

A proper waterbox with burnouts to heat the tires, and STAGE MYSELF! It could definitely be a very rewarding competition among friends and online since I always end up drag racing against friends, but I think we should leave the very indepth aspects of it to another game. Like getting into Alcohol, Top Alcohol, Top Fuel rail cars and funny cars. Just leave it up to normal cars in the game that they provide.

No real line lock or stalls, just heads up at the tree.

Well phrased.
Anyway, I don't know much about drag racing, so I voted for all of them. (Imagine taking a Top Fuel car around the Nurburgring.)

Drag racing = America's manliest motorsport

Just to let you know, SC is the shortening for Super Comp. ;)
