If You Could only Drive One Car for the Rest of Your Life, What Would it be?

It can be any car in the world, but just one, so what would you drive?

I would personally take a Nissan GTR. It's made in Japan, so I'll be able to put light years on it without worrying about it breaking down. It's durable, and I could use it year round. But, most importantly, it's fast and cool.

McLaren F1 GTR

It's been my favourite car since forever. The stunning looks and the oh-so-lovely noise, I'd happily live with it everyday of my life.

Lamborghini Countach. Sure, the engine will kill you, as will the handling, and all of that, but the car is simple. I could fix everything on it given time, and I could upgrade it with a better, safer engine, lighter handling, and better brakes.

I'd probably say the Porsche 911 Turbo (996). It's always been my ultimate all-round supercar. Others may be faster, others may be quicker, and others may be more comfy, but none of them combine all those areas in one great package like the 911 Turbo has in my opinion.

Great question too by the way, it took me a little bit to decide that one. 👍

If were talking the rest of our lives.

With some bigger tires it would look badass and last forever since Diesel trucks are extremely durable.

Land Rover Defender. Green, decked out with roof rack, winch, a ton of lights, jerry cans, shovels, etc.

Kind of like this:

Driving one car everyday means it has to be comfortable and somewhat practical... So supercars are pretty much out. With the weather I have in this area, it also means most sports cars are out of the question as well... Driving something like an S2000 or RX7 through a foot of snow in -30C weather just isn't something that sounds fun.

This. Preferrably with an LS1, however.

Either the Defender posted above (Khakhi or White for me though) in wagon 110 inch wheel base form as posted.

Or in awesome 130 inch pickup form.

a BMW 2002,

(that'd be the friendly green beastie on the right!)

or a Citroen DS 21.

And of course, the AMG Hammer widebody coupe.

I am not into conventional. I am not into what everybody else wants. Expensive means nothing unless it's a Macca F1. But I could only pick up two people and not much luggage at the airport if I picked that.

Usable every day, enough power to guarantee smiles, & superb handling. It is the car that has really re-defined Lamborghini.

Doesn't parts availability come into play? Some of the cars in here would be impossible to operate, unless you also own a mountain bike that you'll ride for the rest of your life or something.

If the car doesn't have to maintained, and it will last forever, then I'd go for something like M5. In the real world though, I'd get something that is reliable, and parts supply is ample from third-party sources.

mclaren f1 road car. Just a standard one for me thanks.

Planning for the apocalypse?

If it was one car that I would have to own, maintain and drive for the rest of my life then it would need to be:
- reliable
- have plenty of available parts
- simple enough to maintain at home
- classic lines so that it ages gracefully
- practical

The only car that I can think of would be a W124 Mercedes Benz e300TD Estate. In black with AMG alloys...like this:

The diesel engine has proven itself to be bullet proof on a wide range of full qualities and in some pretty dodgy environments and the lines have, and I think will continue to, age well.

Nice choice 👍

I'd take a wild guess that all the people saying they'd take super expensive supercars either don't have a license yet, or are too young to know what 'grown up life' is really like.

My wife and I have no kids, but even so, we'd struggle to manage if our only car was the Porsche. And a 911 is a practical sports car, you can cover decent mileage without incurring horrendoes maintainance costs, it doesn't draw a crowd everytime you drive it, you can park it anywhere and it has a decent amount of luggage space with a big front 'boot' and more usable space by folding the rear seats flat. It will manage the weekly grocery trip and long weekends away, but that's about it's limit.

I'd take something like an X5 in sport trim with an autobox and a big capacity diesel engine.

A blue efficiency one. Just because you might need a wagon one day.

No, it's supposed to be one car you have to live with for the rest of your life. I like outdoors stuff which means any supercar is going to be useless.

Tough one

Radical

But I like the aerial atom and the bussa powered super 7 curse having to choose.

Maybe a Monaro or Torana or something like that, worked heavily though.

Only one car for the rest of my life... Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, beautiful, comfortable, powerful, well rounded, the only problem? ...can anyone loan me 250'000 euro?

Subaru Impreza WRX STi, 2004-2005 model. Plenty of power, all-wheel-drive, loads of grip, very reliable and it has four doors and four seats. It's perfect for what I want in a daily driver.

A practical family hatch.
