I'm going to write an e-mail to Sony!

Its in HUGE letter at the news page of this very site also.

So? Do you actually think that every person who gets the DLC checks the website before they buy it? Ask around and I bet the answer is no. The fact is, and quite clearly, there was no warning in the Store where the majority of people get DLC, which is a bad mistake on Sony's part, as this is people's money we are talking about. And then don't even get me started on this account-lock thingy..

With Sony, sometimes things get complicated.
2yoq15u.jpg

Win.

Write asking why they delayed. That's all I need to know. Luckily I don't have any brothers or anyone willing to play with a different account :P

It is not going to change much I am afraid. TBH it is not a big deal just little inconvenience.

DLC is a cash-in it always has been. Look at all the season pass and DLC announced even before a game is released  We need free updates and support for a year or so like they did with GT5 and free DLC.

Also this is how digital distribution works. On PC, steam works exactly like this. Where the game you purchase is attached to your account and you can download it n number of times or on any PC but only that ID will have that game and not possible to migrate it to another ID.

yeah guys, lets write angry letters to sony only for them to not give two *****. what the hell do you guys expect from a huge company?? :dunce:

I only have one account for GT5 so I'm not that peeved. I am wary that other game companies might start doing this though.

I get a strong feeling it's NOT Sony. PD just doesn't want to figure out a way to make the DLC universally available on a PS3 console.

"Oh we can't do it because cause of the console/network/whatever."

Give us a break, practically every other game in the market allows it.

But not everyone who will buy the DLC will be from this forum, or even know of it. The fact of the matter is that there should be a clear explanation as to what the DLC's limitations are in the location where it is bought.

Ignorance is never an acceptable excuse. The other thing I don't understand is everyone saying "Oh this means I'm going to have to spend $60 for the entire pack for all my accounts!". Is it that everyone is locked into this all or nothing mindset? Or is everyone forgetting that you CAN indeed buy whatever parts of the downloads you pick and choose? So you buy the cars one week, then you buy the tracks another. One account buys Part A, another buys Part B. Yeah, you want to buy the whole thing, but if you had to you CAN choose what parts you want.

If you're unhappy about the content or the way it's been dealt with, the most effective way to register your disdain is to not buy it. I won't be. I could be persuaded somewhere down the line to grab the tracks, but they can swivel if they think I'm buying the current crop of cars, paints, blah de blah...

Its not just about PD. From what the customer service rep told me when I CALLED SONY SUPPORT this may become the norm for all DLC content with PSN. IE: if you have 3 people who play a game and an expansion comes out you will have to buy it 3 times – FOR EVERY GAME YOU OWN… If you dont see the issue with this than you are being idiotic. The only way to solve things like this is to voice your opinion to the companies who are doing it and if they dont change the policies THEY created than you have the right to vote with YOUR hard earned money and buy from their competition.

There are many other options they could have chosen, but they chose to stick it to their customers and voicing that you will not stand for it counts if enough people do it. They work for us their customers and are obligated to do what is right for us to keep their profits, if we dont buy their products they dont stay in business. Its that simple.

This is what I wrote…… I urge you all to do the same before EVERY game does this. I just spent 15 minutes on the phone with Sony and they expressed this trend will continue do to people cloning accounts on multiple PlayStations. YOU HAVE A VOICE THROUGH EMAIL AND YOUR WALLETS. USE THEM

Dear Sony,

I have to express my frustration with hearing that DLC content (specificly for now but not limited to DLC for GranTurismo 5) will be limited to only that profile it is purchased under and not available to other profiles on THE SAME PS3.

I URGE you to correct this issue for this and all future DLC content before it becomes a PR nightmare. To my knowledge you have never had this in the past and your compatition (Xbox360) does not do this either. It makes no sense to purchase DLC content multiple times for each person in the same home and this will prevent people like me from even purchasing content from you in the future (Possibly even go to Xbox – I am really considering it at this point along with not purchasing any Sony products in the future).

2 Suggestions to prevent this issue which will undoubtably distroy your companies reputation.

#1 and most simple – DONT DO IT.

#2 Create an online registry (Similar to what Origin does for Battlefield Veteran Status) where we can place a master account (IE: PS3 Serial Number) and list all of the profiles for that PS3 under it to share content. Similar to the Xbox family account concept.

I await your response and ability to re-establish my faith in Sony, Playstation and its developers.

Message to OP (White& Nerdy).

you might want to include the link to Sony in America so that people can voice there opinions more easily. It is:

I understand why people are upset, but XBOX Live has been doing this for over 4 years now. You buy DLC content per gamer profile, not per system. Oh and you also pay $60/year to do so, on top of the DLC cost. There will be an uproar if PSN takes the same path, but I am sure it will become the industry standard. Sony will do it regardless because at the end of the day, your online experience is still free.

This is a good attitude to take my friend.

Did you know that a bunch of angry letters are the only reason that the Mustang didn't get the axe? Power in the numbers.

The man has a point. Where's the outrage, people?

I hate to correct you BUT: XBox allows you to set up a family profile account to be able to share DLC content between people in the same household.

I have 4 people who use my PS3 and play most of the games I buy. Myself, my girlfriend and her two early teenage kids. So what you are saying is it is ok for me to buy a game for $60 that has over 20 tracks and over 1000 cars and over 1000 paint colors.... for $60 that all 4 of us can use.

But if I want DLC content for all 4 of us to use I have to pay $48 for 1 Track (cause a cart track is worthless for online play), 15 cars that are for the most part just remakes of existing cars and not anything new (IE Koeningsegg CCX, Ferrari FXX, Gumpert Apollo Race, Ultima GTR, Ariel Atom, and about 30 other GREAT cars I could name off the top of my head), a few paint chips that I can only use ONCE as in ON ONE CAR IN MY GARAGE OF OVER 800.... That is just crap.

As of this moment there are 15,000 people viewing this site. My guess is there are way over 50,000 people a day who visit this site. If even 20% of us email Sony this will change. It will be too big for them to ignore and they will be forced to make corrections.

I didn't speak on the family pack but we can go down that road. You can share content with 4 other profiles if you get the family pack. HOWEVER, the family pack cost $120.00 per year. My roommate has a family pack, we both have separate Xbox's with LIVE for a couple of years now.

Anyway my point is alot of people are upset, but jumping ship from Sony to Xbox will only be more expensive. Just a warning.

But my point and the point of the OP I believe is that we CAN stop this NOW if we ACT NOW. We are the consumers, OUR combined wallets filled with OUR hard earned cash gives them their profits. If we dont buy their product or in this case their POLICY that they CHOOSE to put into effect they have no profits and go out of business. "ONE VOICE ACCOMPANIED BY THOUSANDS MORE JUST LIKE IT MAKE A DEAFENING ROAR"

Act now while you still can!

Sure, silly of me to not write my PSN password down but these things do happen. Which is why we have a password reset system. Or did have.

EDIT: And to be fair, I wouldn't have had to cancel my registered card on the account if Sony had encrypted the data stored on their customer information database. So to me, it feels like a bit of a rip. I didn't complain when I had to change my card but to be messed around yet again is becoming tedious. (If you combine that with the ridiculously long wait for GT5 it all adds up).

I feel your pain. My son had never tried to update his password since the breach. And since I teach him not to give out personal details online, he registered his account with a birthday he couldn't remember but was not his. He also made up an address and did not use his real name. I called Sony and was on the phone three separate times for a total of two and a half hours to reset the password so he could download the x2010.

Sony told me that he should have used real information and the whole process would have been easier. And I said that while that might be technically true, he looks like a genius in hindsight because the information on him their crappy security lost was invalid.

Phone monkey didn't like that comment much.

It doesn't effect me but it is ridiculous. They already made a ton of money on GT5.

What they should have done like other devs is, if you pre-ordered the game all of this stuff should be free. If they would have had all this DLC figured out at the beginning this would have been great for both sides.

My guess is they had seen all this duping going on and they felt like everyone was cheating and thought this would stop it, But they should have thought about the people that don't have a store in their country or multiple users on one console.

Kinda goes against their new gamer appreciation advertising.

And I don't care if they don't answer it! So join me!

As you may have noticed, the upcoming GT5 DLC is the victim of incredibly greedy implementation which requires you to re-buy it if you want more of the paint chips, more of the DLC cars, don't like the randomly chosen colors of your cars, or have multiple accounts. Kaz has pointed the finger at Sony, but his wording is confusing.

Whatever it means, we need to let Sony know exactly what we think of their decision: IT SUCKS!

Later today, I will set up an e-mail account to which you can send your letters of complaint. They will be edited for language and legibility, then sent on to Sony. But until (or even after) I get the e-mail account set up, you can post complaints here to be collected when I set it up.

Remember, with our support Kaz and his team have a better chance of getting their way with Sony... so let's do it!

Jeeze its just a game and a few bucks.

I just sent a question to the support center. I made sure it was nicely worded and in Sony's favor. I didn't accuse them of anything and it only took a few minutes.

Jeeze its just a game and a few bucks.

Yes its just a game... But its NOT just a few bucks, according to the service rep I spoke to at SONY this might become the "NORMAL" way DLC content is applied for ALL GAMES ON PSN.

Wish you luck. Here's my contribution.

What the hell were you thinking?? Are you trying to hurt GT5's chances against FM4??? I've lost all respect for you Sony. Sure you let other countries buy it on time but NOOOOO, not freaking America. Funny too, we were the last to get the Spec 2.0 update, now we get delayed one week for an anticipated DLC? Is this a joke??? Because IM NOT LAUGHING!!! Sort your act out or be sure to lose alot of your loyal customers! And no offense to the women on GTPlanet, but the kitchen maid that runs SCEA really needs to spend more time at the stove than running Sony Corporation of America.

I dont know if thats quite what I had in mind but at the same time the more emails they get the more they have to address the issue of DLC only being good for one account even if there are several accounts on the SAME PS3.
