This is important...Jordan could really get a could leg up with some money (assuming, of course, he wouldn't blow it all on PS2 games :lol:).

Anyhoo, if say 30 people donated 15 bucks, thats 450 dollars for Jordan to put into the site!

The question is would you donate it? You have brought this up and you didn't even answer your own poll by a post telling if you would or not?(pathetic I would say)

I might donate if I know that it was going towards the site and not to buy ps2 or xbox games.

More than happy to donate to the website - but not other activities (but I'm sure Jordan would be scrupulous with that sort of thing anyway).

Other members are more than welcome to donate funds to my gaming activities...

Although I'm not sure as to what kind of info we might want...

Perhaps he could figure out how much he could get from donations, buy whatever he needs, then scan the recepits, and when we see the receipts, we send the money. That sounds like a good plan. Does anyone else agree?

Well, true enough, but another way to look at it is this - has the site given you $15 worth of entertainment? If so, then there's really no issue.

Jordan to his eternal credit hasn't asked for anything in return for hosting the site, and to admittedly jaded eyes (I work as a Credit Analyst) I'm still astounded that this sort of stuff kicks around for free on the web.

In terms of legitimacy, yes, you'd want to ensure that payment would be secure and going towards the site - but conceptually, I have no issue with kicking a couple of bucks into the tin. The site shouldn't go user pays, because it's more a club than anything, but if the hat came around, yeah, I'd throw some bucks in.

not that i have seen anywhere on this forum where jordan has asked for money ! closest i've seen is this thread that you posted stealth and then have a little dispute with yourself over your own idea ? dont get me wrong i agree :cool: your idea is good ! but thinking of an alterier destination other than this site is not right for these reasons

1 jordan never posted this ! you did

2 even if he does put it elsewhere the funding of this site comes from him and inevitably the money sent will still be put back here anyway

3 jordan has done well in making this site what it is , and comes across as a person who knows whats what ! and i'm sure he has not stopped at just this site , this guy is making money for sure ( probably very rich ! ;) ) he's to smart to be skint ! :D

but all in all a good idea its like a free rent month suggestion yeah ! we the regulars give a few £ in my case $ in yours towards his next payment for the site , i agree , if jordan will post a postal address , i will contribute :)

I can't believe some are griping over whether Jordan would spend the money on the site, when it's already completely clear that he has spent a lot on it, VBulletin engine, new server, hosting etc, and that's before you consider the time he's put into it. I know how much work a site like this is, what does it matter if the guy gets to buy himself a coupla beers with any extra donations? Fact is, if I ever met Jordan in RL, I'd definitely stump for a round, so why are we quibbling?

If we want to get into a cash-for-facilities thing, we could get agreement on who was going to give cash, and then between us pay for something, like 6 months' hosting, or the server build, or something like that. But if it came to bunging a money order in the mail, I'd do it. Jordan's mailing address is published in the Privacy Policy.

Perhaps what I said came out wrong...

It's not any issue with Jordan...

It's just the concept of simply sending some money off isn't one I take lightly...I just would like to know perhaps what Jordan is thinking of spending it on (in terms of the site).

Hope no one thinks I don't trust him, and no offense was meant, J!

All we need to do to help Jordan is to stay members and refer as many people into the site for more members. I think what would make Jordon happy is to have one of the largest member forums on the internet. :)
 
I dont think Jordan is too bothered about the money thing as I havent heard of any request for maney or payment - I think he knows that if there was a money request to sign up or something then not many people would - I wouldnt be too keen on sending money out in the post to someone who I dont really know ( I beleive you cant KNOW someone just by typing a few messages on the net ) Having said that I would probably send some money to the owner as the site is really good and I enjoy time spent on here jw :D :D :D

This site has become a staple in my life and I get a lot more info and entertainment out of it daily as I do with some of my monthly magazine subscriptions that cost the same.

That is the great thing about a large community like this. Just image if all 4,597 (and counting) members donated $1.00. :)

As long as he made sure the IRS doesn't get any of it. :P :)

Long time reader, first time poster. ;)

I have only started reading religiously for a few weeks. Didn't post much until a few weeks ago too.

I am actually just starting to get into autos/GT series. A friend got me into Formula One racing during the summer and I kind of got hooked on all aspects of autos. There are some very knowledgeable people on this site.
