I'd love to have a Ginetta G4 in the States. Just show how smaller can be so much better. Apart from the fact that most Americans will feel confident in running me over in one. :ill:

Pointless/stupid modifications never make a car better. Especially when the car was perfect as it came from the factory.
No car has ever been perfect from the factory, nor will one ever be. If they were, nobody would ever modify them.

BMW F1 turbo engine shots are awesome!
Look at how the camshaft carrier assembly fully encases the cam and are independent from the head!

5.5 bar of boost in qualifying trim, and 1300hp. I read some time ago they would actually weld the head on the engine block and the piping as well because there was just too much pressure (we're talking 85 psi for those not familiar with bars) for gaskets or couplers.

I bet those things had turbo lag from hell.

I wrote a piece on the Brabham/BMW BT52 for a book sometime ago. If I remember correctly, the thing went from 700 to all the 1,200 hp in 1000 rpm. Everything I found on the car said that the drivers were scared to death of the damned thing.

Which can be said of pretty much all the turbo era cars. 1200hp and steel brakes, with h-pattern gearboxes must have been quite the thrill.

The later ones like the lotus Honda were a bit more manageable since they used two smaller turbos as opposed to one huge one that's the size of the block. Not to say it's a large block but still, awesome stuff.
