Looking forward to this weekend :D - Anyone fancy any practice one night this week?

Send me a friend request, I'm always down for practice even though I can't make the race I'll still practice. almost always on after 8pm EST

Independent Indianapolis GS Class Test.. I hope this is Okay to post this, I am just trying to help with the BOP of the cars.. All cars were run with no assists except ABS set on 1. The cars were all also ran with completely Default settings and ballast in the 0 position. All cars were built to exact original spec except the 370z which I went ahead and -5hp since I saw it mentioned.. The order I list the cars is the order I drove them. The laps posted were laps that I felt I had gotten a very clean fast lap and didn't think it could achieve much more as far as lap time goes.. Here are the times. The times were also ran in the Garage "Test Drive" mode and not online lobby as tire wear etc effects them..

Subaru WRX - 3 Laps- 1:39.001

RUF RGT - 4 Laps- 1:39.112

V12 Vantage - 3 laps - 1:38.684

BMW M3 - 3 Laps - 1:39.079

Nissan 370z (-5hp/ 474pp) - 3 Laps - 1:39.138

Camaro - 3 Laps - 1:38.268

Mustang Boss- 6 Laps- 1:39.202

The cars are very close and I applaud the time it took to get them there. The Aston V12 vantage and Camaro are on a whole different level though and maybe should receive some BOP. Your series, you can do what you want. Just thought I would help.. Once again just trying to help and offer my skills to help the series.. Also think it may be a good idea for Giorgio to test the cars in Default settings as well and see what his findings are since he is very fast as well.. I will also be happy to do this testing for you for the ST class as well.. Hope this is Okay..

Good Job! If there were guys that could drive those Camaros, we'd all be in trouble. Someone will show up in the Stevenson cars I'm sure...
I'm headed to the track now.

Well I had planned on testing a few of them tonight, WRX mainly since it's BoP was not 100% set in stone, but you've gone and done the work for me. We'll make that 370Z change, but it looks like the others might be ok. Sure the Camaro is a bit faster, but to be honest each car might have strengths at different tracks. The car wasn't dominant at Daytona, so I think it might be ok where it's at.

The only car in ST I thought could need some work is the Mini. I got the actual minimum weight that I posted earlier, not sure how much it will slow it down. Wii's fastest time at Daytona was 1.5 seconds faster than the next fastest, and a full second faster than I ran with it during BoP target setting.

Ok, just thought I would inform you about the Camaro.. The last two builds I did for my CTSCC series I had to run the Camaro at the Z/28 (3500lb) specified weight and add power to it to get it up to par on straight speed because it was too fast around the track by a good margin otherwise. Still has won a race and finished 2nd last race. Just ran a 1:56.75 ONLINE LOBBY in it with bone stock default set up after only 5 laps at Daytona and first flying lap was 1:56.8.. Atleast now you know, your call from that point.. Would you like me to test ST? I noticed the 3400S had a best lap time 4 seconds slower than you guys... If not tell me to kick rocks LOL.. thought I would do the testing here at this track since I have to miss the race and all..

There was only one 3400S in the race and I don't think he was running at full speed. It wasn't the specs. Speaking of, to set all this straight here's what my testing looks like:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qZ1K7gAg8NOU1taMKhmx8Qsa8MVcxekuVB5pz1ELTwo/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true

According to your chart the cars are close, but IF you were running tunes on them it skews the results because you may have a good tune on one car and not the other, or one tune may suite your style better. My test was all completely default settings and that way all cars are equal.. The cars are close except that Camaro, if anyone decently quick gets in that thing it will dominate Indianapolis, Leguna and midfield.. Your series, I'm just letting you know. I'm still going to race either way and be helpful. You wont hear anymore from me about it (GS) after this post.. Everyone have a good night and good luck at Indianapolis... I'm going to test ST tomorrow and I'll message you the results...

Joining for a few mins 👍

Edit: Good practice, car feels great, shame about the understeer through the hairpins, that's the only "sad" part of the circuit, rest is fun!

Really fast man! I think the Nissan can't keep up this time around... :indiff:

Just as a side note, the BoP on the Subaru was actually set using the NBR Challenge car, not the standard STi that we are using. That is why I needed to finalize it's specs. Based on Achilles testing it looked like it was going to be fine the way it was. How much faster are we talking?

I managed a 1:39.2xx with the 370Z (-5hp at 475PP) and the Subaru did a 1:37.8xx :scared::crazy:

I'll take a look at it tonight. Was supposed to last night but GTAV PC got in the way. :P

Mole with a 4wd Subaru is an op combo no matter what spec it is :P. Also yes GTA for PC is epic!.

Given i didn't do many laps but I only managed 1:39.714 in the BOSS in an Online Lobby.. That was before i did all the tests with the cars.. The Subaru was the first car I ran in the comparison tests, should have went back and ran it again after running all the others.. usually I run each car 2 or 3 times to make sure it is the cars and not just me getting better at the track. Felt like a really solid lap with the car though. If he ran a 1:37.8 in an online lobby he has an awesome tune and can drive it to the fullest.. Props on that time ! !

He's super fast anyway, doesn't matter the tune.

'till Mole joined the room my best time was around yours. But on his second lap he beat my time, which took me some time to achieve :P and from that moment on he was always improving. Very fast ;)
Then I pushed a little harder but not enough to get down to 38's.

Not sure I've raced most of you guys before so should be good :D I'm no slouch :P And I have a good 4wd tune. And I like Indy Road. So it all adds up

Would be interesting to see what others can manage in the Subaru, I thought it was a bit slow at Daytona (top end) when I was testing in the week before last race - just couldn't make the race unfortunately.

1'37.921 in the Nissan (-5hp) after 10-15 laps.

Edit: 1'38.089 in the BOSS 302.
I've also tried the Camaro and it did 1'37.7 after just two laps without tuning so I think it might need a BoP adjustment. I'll try the other GS cars tomorrow. @R1600Turbo

I was in the room with Giorgio when he ran those times.. Funny when he ran the Camaro.. Did 2 laps and ran a 1:37.7 then said "It is already too fast and no tune yet" The Mustang and Z are very close together, I just can't seem to find my way around this place in the Boss to manage any better than a 1:38.7. Watched Giorgio run the car and he brakes soo much later then me and I think that is were the time is being made. I have never been a late braker, time to learn I guess... First time I have ever been out paced in the same car by more than .2 also.. Takes a little getting used to, just need to practice and change some things in my driving.

1:37.8xx Subaru WRX
1'37.921 370Z
1'38.089 BOSS 302.
1'37.7 Camaro

Don't know about you guys, but this looks great to me.

No, Not great.. The Camaro was completely default settings (No tune) the 3 other cars are tuned. Also Camaro ran that on lap 2 or 3 of being driven and the BOSS and 370z were 10 laps at the least... The Camaro would run close to 36's tuned... Literally, Giorgio ran 2 or 3 laps in the Camaro in default set up, stopped and said " Already it is too fast and not even tuned yet" I'll let him comment on it.. He knew after 2 laps it was too fast..

Took the Z out and ran a 1:38.752, so obviously my driving skills are not up to the task of making these cars even.

So if you guys think you can fix it, go right ahead.

It is extremely hard to make cars balanced for any series. From the list of GS @flip55 ran a series a bit ago where the Boss 302 looked promising versus the field which included both the Aston and Camaro. It took us about 2 to 3 months to iron out a lot. I'll link the series once I find it again.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...ot-hill-this-thursday-slots-available.319261/

This was the link, but it looks like Flip took the specs out. I'll ask him to post them or link the site with them. They were from the January results.

I'm just thinking that it would be a never ending battle. One car will be better than the rest at one track, and then could be one of the slowest in the next race. You make adjustments, then it a third car ends up being the fastest. On and on...
