Independent Scotland to drive in the eleventh dimension?

I always thought that the wrong side of the road was the one where everybody else was driving in the opposite direction.
 
That's "oncoming lane".

Unless the road markings preclude it (solid white centreline/s, cross-hatchings, central reservation) there is no impediment to using the oncoming lane at will - though you should be aware of when the centreline becomes a hazard warning line (which no-one is) the upcoming road layout may make it riskier to do so.
