Indy and Eifel again.

If it really is 4 wheel off then I don't mind replays being down. I just want public accountability if people are finding time from an exploit again.

Its three off right now for penalties to kick in. Which is really nice. Im digging the new penalties. We have to leave our john dears at home :ouch:

What I don't understand is that PD specifically chose the tires which they thought were most similar to the IRL cars. Those are the tires you get when you buy the car/get the car. I'm pretty sure the GTR came with sports mediums... Doesn't make much sense AT ALL.

GT-R comes with something in between comfort softs and sports hards, probably closer to comfort softs.

If anything the comfort softs are too grippy since I can smoke the Stig's IRL TGTT time by over 3 seconds.

Wow so you're telling me that the GTR really does drive like a boat on dainty iceskates?

One thing I don't get is their fascination with Indy GP. Not only did they use it for last years time trial competition, we've seen it twice in GT Academy. So many other tracks to choose from, why this one?

When modulating the power it's very controllable, IMO. However, it's almost 2 tons with the driver...so it kind of should feel like a boat.

Yeah :/ just not very responsive... Ohwell we've got what we're given. I'm just glad they're both short tracks.

I found the tires out by driving the real Laguna Seca in both my personal cars.

Comfort soft: about 180-200 treadwear street tires
Sport hard: 140 treadwear street tire
Sport medium: 100 treadwear DOT R-comp tires (road legal race tires)

👍

That's really close to what I was thinking.

The comfort soft feel almost as fast as like a Direzza Star Spec, which is 180 treadwear, IIRC. The sports hards are kind of like the Toyo RA-1 which is an r-comp with some treads (street legal), and the mediums feel like fresh set of Hoosier A6's (barely street legal when new).

That seems way off to me. Just my opinion though.

I don't know enough to agree or disagree....but regardless....I don't like cruddy tires....

Of course the lack of fear does make losing grip much easier and common than IRL.

It's not that I disagree with Vaga, it's more like a disagreement with PD on why we have so many choices above those specific compounds. I always thought 200 treadwear tire would be more like a Sport Medium.

Who cares what tires are on the cars? Let's drive em a fast as we can and see who comes out on top. Would grippier tires be a little easier at first? Of course they would. The faster guys will take advantage of weaker grip then the slightly slower guys. It's at least the same conditions for everyone now. Hopefully no wall banging or lawn manicures this round.

 tires are tires drive within the limits :)

Amen to that.

This. Couldn't agree more!

On one hand, no replays prevents exploits from spreading like wild fire. On the other hand, no replays means any major exploits will go undetected. Let's just hope PD/Sony is still recording/reviewing the top 10 replays. It would really be a shame if, after all that happened in Round 2, someone made it to Round 4 by using an exploit.

haha! I got a nice laugh when I just logged in and say they gave us indy and eiffel again.

I'm glad that they've taken away the ability to download ghosts. It's easy to follow a ghost around the track and be fast, it's another to be able to find the fast line on your own. Good luck to all that are participating on this round

To me, pretty much every choice they've made in regards to this competition doesn't make sense. If the idea here is to find the best player to put him in a real race car on a real race track, shouldn't the settings resemble that as much as possible? Unmodified street cars on crap tires on unrealistic fantasy tracks makes no sense. To me, it makes alot more sense to put people in race modified cars, such as the Super GT's, on race grade tires and on real world race tracks.

Disappointment for me. I don't follow the ghost cars, but I do use them for split times.

Alot of sense-making right thar. :D I completely agree, but hey, if I make it to the finals I don't care if they make me drive a freakin hovercraft on rainbow road.

It is good to be back and competing with you guys again.. i must say i have missed it a lot :).

I also know that if the day ever comes that i get a GTR.. i am going to immediately drive to walmart and get the most generic cheap-o tires on there. Obviously there is a secret out there that we don't know about!

Unfortunately, most people don't use the ghost for that reason. I typically use it for split times as well, but I do think it's a bit more challenging this way

Race grade tires = $$$$$

When they're putting the drivers through the bootcamp at Silverstone, and maybe even the winner and other factory drivers through the Nissan driving school, I highly doubt they are going to want to put people out on the track everyday just to burn through a bunch of very expensive slick tires, when they can save a serious amount of money by putting them on some less expesive tires and let those guys destroy them.

I am sure whatever tire they are running on at Silverstone will be sponsored, and will most likely be the factory tires the GTR comes on which is at least a sport hard if not sport medium equivalent. People who say comfort softs are what these cars run on from the factory are a little mistaken in my opinion.

That may be true. But you can bet they're not going to put them on the cheapest street tires either, which I think would actually have more grip than the comfort softs.:dopey:

Oh well, good luck to all. Go AJ.👍
