Indy and Eifel again.

I agree that it should have been race cars, on race tires, on race tracks. Fantasyland is for strippers not racing.

Also wouldn't run of the mill street car tires overheat and start chunking with hard track use like they'll see at Silverstone? I would think they would have to at least go to a DOT-legal semi-slick.

My impressions after about 30 minutes:

Eifel: I hate this track and do not see myself getting used to it at all.

Indy: Ice skating rink as usual.

Conclusion: My finishing somewhere in the teens for this round. (at best)

I feel you turbo. Eifel is hard to get used to this round. I hope to get into the teens too as my initial goal was top 16 in my region. :)

Worst part is, if I get lucky and get the hang of it, I'm leaving town early Sunday morning.....it will kill me to watch my time slip as I heading out of town without a way to keep trying.

I'll give it my best while I'm here. :indiff:

I hate the Eifel track also but you will manage to find your way around after a few sessions. You are a fast dude so I don't have any doubts you will find your speed eventually.

LOL @ Indy...boooring! Needless to say, I'm not a fan of repeats. But the second TT is really great 👍 GL everyone!

I just slid my way to a 7th in the West at Eifel. I still don't like this track, but that's better than 24th where I was sitting an hour ago.

Yeah, I was going to say don't give up so easily! Once you find the line, it's not too hard to make pretty big time improvements and as the leaderboard is showing, you've done just that!

The real question now is who'll be the first person to break into the 17's..

not close to my ps3 what tires are used for these test? at Indy anything lower than sport soft is abitch. Im not a GTAcadamy driver but SS or RH you can do some nice times In the academy cars.

Indy is familiar to me so I should be okay there. With Eifel, it appears that rhythm and precise steering control is key. In theory, that plays to my advantage.

On a related note, I finally know what's wrong with my knees. Bilateral patella femoral syndrome. My kneecaps are out of alignment. I should be able to drive for short sessions but with only a week to put down a time, I'm at a huge disadvantage.

Disappointment for me. I don't follow the ghost cars, but I do use them for split times.

+1 ^^^^^. Using them for split times is also what I used them for. I always "remove them from sight."

we certainly got what we asked for. The penalty system is nicely draconian. Seems like they also have "real" grass turned on. 👍

I'm done for the night. I think I made some decent progress at both track tonight. I know there is some more time to find at each track.

1.40.361 & 2.18.307

im pretty sure my gamepad isnt gonna get me to orlando, that hasnt stopped me from trying, but im just going to wish you all the best of luck.

15minutes and a half a Mountain Dew got me to a 17.7 :D
lol i was struggling to crack the 18.2 mark for the past hour and a half and suddenly FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
good job tho, thats gonna be a tricky time to beat

Wow. I am simply at a loss this time... Set a 41.8 @ Indy on my first lap and will "tune it" later because Eifel seems to be my nemesis - I'm so far off the pace it's not funny(in the 23's or 4's), I seem to consistently miss every apex and would be doing well if it was a "drift" competition.... Or as a pace car driver if there were full course cautions........ :yuck: 👎

I just printed the track layout to try and "burn it into my head" so I can try to find speed rather than learn the track(since I seem to not be able to).

Props to the "quick learners" and please don't go any faster for 2 days or so :)

PSA: If APPALACHIAN_KRIS could magic over some knowledge on the line/driving technique used to set that most recent lap, that'd be great.. Holy bird, nice lap man!!

Goal: 17's by the end the time I go to sleep tonight.

EDIT:

New goal: 17.5xx by the time I go to sleep tonight! I accidentally missed the bus this morning and did 20 laps at eiger instead of going to my EE lecture. End result was a 17.795 coming across the top of the screen!

If that isn't a typo, then I worship you.

I turn it off and turn the map scale to 2. It lets me see where I'm gaining/losing time without being a distraction.

Turned off for me, I just go off the split times. Works great for tight technical tracks cuz it's easy to pinpoint where I'm losing time....longer tracks I haven't been able to come up with a good method yet....

On another note, the top 3 overall are from one region. :dopey:

Nice work E 👍

And welcome to club 357
