I love how we both made a race, and I think that you also used Matejs outline.
And with the coin toss for lap tiebreaker, it should be the lowest time if there is a tie.

This might be the excuse I've always looked for to buy the Panoz. Must emphasize the might part though, as it's the slowest and costs $4500000.

Worth mentioning even though I don't really care, (Because I'm awesome as heads Vs Tails) but there could be up to 1:00.000 (I'm just guessing that's about how long a lap in these cars takes?) difference between two people with the same lap count.

Unauthorized exploitation of Matej's outline!!

Ahhhh, I would be really happy to participate in this but 165 min of racing is a bit too much for me since I also study for the college (:ouch:), so anything above 90-120 min is a gamble that I can't afford to lose. Too bad, because I love difficult circuits like Infieon and I have perfect setups both for AMG and Panoz :( . Well, I'll be watching this for sure.

Just out of curiosity, what is an "Infieon"?

Does it by any chance have anything to do with Sears Point?

Unauthorized exploitation of Matej's outline!!

Evil Laugh!!! (Which came first the outline or the race.)

In case anyone doesn't get the inside joke between Matej and myself, he asked permission months ago to use my race series outline as a starting place. So it only seemed fair to use his modified version too. :)

P.S. I doubt there will be any ties, unless somehow we get 32 or greater entries.

I'm taking a BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car ('97).

Ok perfect, I don't want to fork out 4.5 mil for a new car, (I didn't even buy the Panoz for testing. :scared:, It might be quickest by 3 seconds.)

With all bar the Merc picked, you can put me down to use it, even though my previous experience with it was far from positive. (though in this comp I can fondle with the settings so hopefully it will be better)

If you'd rather have the Panoz, you can take it. I did kinda swoop in and grab it up. It doesn't matter one way or the other to me, I based my choice on which headlights I liked better. No reason to double up on cars if we don't have to.

None of the cars are exclusive, just imagine you have a different livery and race number.

Besides it will give one of you something to compare your setup to.

I don't care either, but the Merc is 4500000 cheaper, which (for me) outweighs the less striking headlights, so I'll use it, for now.

Shotamagee your switching to the BMW? If I understood you correctly.

Now that I've done the race I'll clarify, by Merc I meant the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK-GTR Race Car ('98).

Semi report of sorts;
My CLK-GTR hasn't been touched since I used it to complete the Sarthe II 24 hour race, so first things first, a chassis refresh and oil change, then off to the track.
You definitely notice these cars have less downforce than their Group C, predecessors (having just done the Nurb 50 Mile challenge), and are also less well behaved than the newer, LM GTP/P cars as well. I set the car up to have a bit more understeer than normal for stability and to hopefully give the rear tyres a bit more life. The race itself featured a multitude of off track excursions, due to pushing hard with a twitchy car on a challenging track for 2:45.000, still I'm happy enough with my lap count; Time Submitted.

No it's ok. 👍
I'm lucky that the due date is on the Monday, because as always I left it late,:ouch: and with an almost 3 hour long race I can't just fit it in between dinner and going to bed.

I'll get back from Mosport on Sunday night, and will then be able to complete the race the following afternoon.

Oh, I didn't see GMT on the rules list so I assumed that it was the 20th for everyone, regardless of time zone. That will be a challenge to get in by 7:30, but still possible.

Every series I have done in the last year or so has ended on the day specified and always at 7:30ish AM. If you really need a GMT time its 1:30 pm GMT.

Ok, one hour and ten minutes in with 50 laps completed so far.
I was up early this morning for bike racing, and after an eventful day this is very difficult.
I've spun the car several times, and a general lack of concentration has probably cost me 2-3 laps. :ouch:

💡
Maybe I should do the races a bit before the deadline instead of 12 hours from it...

Edit: 1 hour left to go. :D

Results are in. We did have a tie for the lead afterall. Flipping a US quarter, Shotamagee won the coin toss with heads. Congradulations Shotamagee!

I want to thank all participants. This was a fairly close race despite my poor lap count. I made several errors and bad tire choices. I know I could have made it a closer race. THC118 threatened, but Shotamagee and Bopop4 pulled ahead dueling for first place.

I think the cars in this series are pretty closely matched.

Not bad for pulling an all nighter and screwing up for the first hour.
What were the 2 times?
I had a 45'06.957?

Congratulations to everyone who raced. 👍

My total time was something like 2:45:40.xxx, I remember that I was halfway towards getting another lap done, but I did say I was good at heads V tails, so I'll happily take the win.

My strategy was 9 lap stints on R2 tyres, with a couple of 10 lappers at the end. I probably cost myself that half a lap in mistakes early in the runs with cold tyres and then late in the runs with worn ones, but like I've said earlier, I'm still happy enough with my consistency & lap count. From memory my best lap was a 1:18.9xx. Congrats to everyone who persisted and made it to the finish line.

Hmm..
I still don't think that it's right to to a coin toss when there was over 30 seconds between cars, but BH-21 kept the rules that way so congrats.

My best was a 1'17.800-900 but I was very very tired and I made a lot of errors, I was going to be 2 seconds away from getting another lap in but a small excursion trying to close the gap added a few seconds.
